We were surposed to stay here for 4 nights but left early as really couldn't stand the heat in the room anymore. Even though the temperature outside was only 17 degrees the temperature in the room never really dropped below 30. The air con unit was installed in the room but as we were told by the reception "they didn't know why as they have never worked". We know that we booked a room where there wasn't any air conditioning but I think the problem is that the rooms have been designed and built to have air conditioning but for what ever reason (money/technical) they have not been activated. This has lead to rooms that should have a system of air movement through them not having any ventilation that leads to the increased temperature within the rooms. I have read a few reviews about this very problem at this hotel (some from 2 ysars ago) so I feel that Premier Inn has known about the issue for a while but decided to do nothing about it. I would suggest that the rooms are "not fit for purpose" and Premier Inn has no "duty of care" for its customers. We have stayed at several Premier Inns over the years but have never had to cut short a holiday because the room we were staying in made us feel physically ill. I would suggest that if you were elderly or you had very young children then you would have to really consider if the the onset of heat exhaustion was really worth it. My son who is 11 felt the affects of the heat within minutes of being in the room. The hotels response to a complaint about the temperature was to offer another fan which would of course be useless as all the fan was doing was blow around the hot air which was in the room. I have asked for a response from the company through their contact form and...
Read moreThis is my second visit to this Hotel, in which my first was extremely negative due to the attitude of one staff member, but a year later, i am so pleased that i returned as i now know i will visit again and again as i found everything so much nicer.
I had requested a top floor room prior to arriving which was lovely (a new design room), everything was clean and fully functional, including the heating (last time i was freezing), the bed was firm, the pillows soft, the shower had a great pressure, the large smart TV worked perfectly as did the kettle, plus the room was at the back of the Hotel which meant no traffic noise, perfect!
Lovely Hotel with free parking in the large car-park adjacent, which also has a large Beefeater next door which unfortunately i really cannot recommend eating a main meal in there, as mine was completely inedible, overall a good stay as they even put extra beverages and bus information in the foyer, plus de-icer and scrapers for your car which i thought was fantastic.
On a critical note, i found the self check-in experience rather cold with nobody there to greet me, as i then had problems finding the room as there is also a Hotel extension and i couldn't figure out where i should be going, there was also a fire exit door underneath my window that kept slamming due to people going outside for a cigarette, other than that i had a great time, and this time i found the staff lovely and friendly, especially Harry who arranged my next booking in...
Read moreWe stayed at the Christchurch East Premier Inn Somerford on Saturday and Sunday night to visit relatives. |The Premier inn was your normal Premier inn, you know what you are getting. |Our room (36) was at the very end of a maze of corridors on the ground floor. |Lovely comfy bed so a great nights sleep, but we felt that the hotel needs a refurb. |Our room smelt a bit musty at times, there were cobwebs on the window and the net and curtains at the window looked like they had seen better days. |Everything else was fine, very clean, but definitely needs a new lease of life. |We had breakfast in the restaurant (08/09) and the staff in there were lovely. Young girl checking you in and showing you to your tables is an asset to the company. (Blonde hair had a pink and white striped top on) didn’t get her name. |The food was lovely and all the staff very helpful but the whole food area and bar area looks very tired. Paint missing off walls and on the wooden columns. The carpet looked very well used. |Overall lovely staff, comfy beds, but the hotel itself lets the staff down. Please do a refurb. ||One other comment, the car park needs a definite change. If you have a car any bigger than a mini (old style) then the length of the car parking space is not big enough. Your car hangs over the end about two feet. The spaces must of been done before all the new suv type vehicles came along. ||Would use the hotel again because of location, but only if it...
