It was a very disappointing visit for my son's birthday last Tuesday. I had booked a table for six but we were slightly late. We were met with an unhelpful front of house who told us our table had been cancelled and could not be found. I explained we were part of a bigger party and that it was for my son's birthday. We were told we could eat in the bar. The lady disappeared, and we were left in the reception. Then we noticed three of our party, who had arrived on time, had been seated at our table. Why this was not explained, I have no idea. Then we were seated at a small table (two small tables pushed together) and told to go to the counter when we were ready. When we got there, the gammon was not available and nor were peas, crackling, and some other selections. It's a shame as my son only eats the gammon. It was not late as it was only about 7.50. The waiter (Mario) was kind and helpful, but the entire evening was ruined by a poor greeting and an unwillingness to help. The table booked the day before looked like an afterthought. See the picture attached. I've been to this Toby many, many times, but I have never had such a bad experience. Over a hundred pounds spent without starters or puddings and only one alcoholic drink. We left feeling very short-changed as we rarely get out as a family. I would not recommend based on my most recent experience. There was no apology from anyone. As we left we noticed a puncture in the wheel of my car caused by debris in the car park. Another £160! All in all, it's not a good experience at all.

Our server GOSIA was so very nice & helpful but the young lady at the front of house at 3pm was very abrupt when we asked her about todays Toby special offers linked with the App. There was nobody behind us and she had little interest / compassion to help navigate us to understand the Rewards and brushed us off to our table in a very LOUD indignant manner. Her attitude didn't change when we asked for her to visit our table and pointed out 25% off Mains which GOSIA had activated. 2wks away for wife's 73rd B/day Staying at Elmers Court SO41 5ZB. Recent visits to Toby, Poole on Tue 4th Feb. Hinton on Sun 9th Feb & again Hinton today Tue 11th Feb Everyone has been so kind & considerate towards my wife who is on 2 walking sticks. One bad apple has spoilt our Toby experience but we will still frequent the one @Snaresbrook when in London, where i held my Mum's wake after her funeral in Nov 2022. Your food was impeccable, hot fresh & tasty and we look forward to trying other Toby establishments. Thank you.

This was my first trip to a Toby Restaurant and was so excited to visit for a friendly warm welcome and delicious food according to the reviews, but sadly I had neither. From the moment I got in the door, I felt everyone's eyes were on me because I was alone, especially the customers who appeared so angry towards me, but the staff unbelievable, firstly, the young lady was so miserable to take me to a table, then the chef who begrudgingly gave me my meat & wouldn't talk to me when i tried to ask for certain meats, & ended up with the standard slice of each, i will not be visiting again, and didn't enjoy my meal in the slightest, the food was tepid & tasted days old, so disappointing! Follow up - What is the Owner trying to say in his/her feedback to me, why bother replying to my feedback if they can't be bothered to give me anything other than a predefined text reply, I don't understand??

I dont often write nad reveiws as I dont generally think that a place should be judged or brought down based on 1 bad experience, but last night was genuinly the worst service i have recieved in a restaurant.

We pre-booked our table in advance from a choice of timeslots provided on the website and arrived a few mins early, however, throughout the whole meal, my grandparents and I were being rushed by the carvery staff and made to feel extremely unwelcome. The lady who 'greeted' us at the door was scowling at us the entire time and when she walked us to our table, she barely pointed and grunted before walking away. My grandparents are usually very cheery people but we started to get a bad vibe at this point which dampened their moods.

We were told that we would have to go up to get our food quickly because they were taking the food away soon (which was untrue as they did not take the food away for another hour) and of the 4 meat options, only 2 were present, one of which had about only half a portion left which meant that that only meat option was beef. This was very disapointing as my nan doesnt like beef and the website specifically says that there will always be at least 3 meat options available. Not only that, but my grandad (who was the only one to get meat in the end) had half of his beef be grissle and fat, so the quality was lacking too.

To their credit, the vegetables and sauces were very good and well stocked.

When we were barely half way through our meal, we were asked if we wanted to order desert. Again, this made us feel very rushed and unwanted. The waiter then kept on walking past our table every 2 minutes and staring at us as he did, even lurking behind us and watching at certain points. I would like to mention that there were other guests eating, and not just us, so we do not understand the reason why we were being targeted by this weird behaviour.

After we finished our meal and paid the bill, we moved to the pub area - when we looked up the closing time, it wasnt closing for over 2 hours so we moved to the pub area to finish our drinks and get out of the way, hoping that that would be the end of the hostility. After we had been sitting for about 15 mins, the music was turned off, and the staff kept staring at us. We eventually left, very disheartened by what was supposed to be our last meal on our little get away trip to the New Forest.

My grandparents and I only get to see each other 2-3 times a year as we live so far away, and it feels that our trip has been ruined by this incident.

I really hope that this was a one-off incident and hasn't/doesn't happen to anyone else, but it was still not nice experince to pay for a meal and be...

We have visited here on many occasions. There is ample parking, disabled spaces out the front, and many spaces to the side. This location can get very busy, especially on a Sunday lunchtime. It is in an old style building with low beams at the entrance, so watch your head! When the weather is nice, there is also outside seating. The bar area is large enough to accommodate approx 30 people, again with overflow to the outside seating. This is where people tend to wait for their table if it is busy. The staff are fab, and one worthy mention is a waiter caller Mario, who goes above and beyond when you have young people with you. The food is super at this carvery, I know some can be hit or moss, but this location is defo a hit, the children love the mac and cheese, the roast potatoes are great, 2 varieties, and they veg goes down well. Their meat is great, turkey, pork, gammon beef and sometimes lamb. Another thing to mention is the takeaway service, not alot of people know this, we had it last Sunday. You turn up and pay at the bar, think it was £14.95 ish per meal. For that you get given a ticket, you queue up as normal, when you get to the chef at the meat, tell him its a takeaway and give them the ticket, in return you get bags and pots. One bag is filled with a Yorkshire pudding per person, then in the larger pots, you get the meat carved into, you can then proceed to fill a bag with roast potatoes and the veg goes into the meat pot, these are quite large and you can fit alot in. Then you get given a smaller pot per person for the gravy and if you want, sauces. We got 2 takeaways and not only had enough for 2 adults, a teenager and a 10 Yr old, but also then had enough potatoes and veg for the following evenings meal. The takeaway is defo worth it if you don't fancy cooking. Also another thing to note, they are also on the too good to go app, so if they do not sell all the food, they offer carverys for collection to purchase at a few pounds so it doesn't...

Firstly I think the front of house manageress should be sacked, secondly I think the waiters should be retrained properly to maintain the service of what appears to be a very busy eating establishment. Tonight 26/8/25 @ 6:30 after booking we had to wait 20 mins to have my name bellowed across the entrance and then presented to a table that was just laid with napkins only and surfaced wet, after waiting a further 10 mins and eventually calling someone over we placed our order, from queuing for the carvery (no problem) and returning to our table still no cutlery! So my wife went hunting only to be told we would have to wait until a waiter would bring it to us, some 5 minutes later, needless to say by then our dinner that started off hot was now only luke warm, however with our treat to our Grandson we carried on, finished our meal short and asked for the bill, that never came so we went to the nearest till and asked to pay, the waiter got the wrong table charged ! after a few minutes and realised what he had got wrong decided he would walk off !! the then wonderful front of house manger stepped in and supposedly sorted the error but didn’t let on, I was left standing and after they sorted four other customers finally said that I would receive a credit in 3-5 days !! I asked for proof of the forthcoming credit and immediately confronted and accused of bad behaviour, all I asked was how much and can I have a credit proof slip, this promoted a verbal explosion to include the ‘F’ word from the front of house manager !! Please, I ask what or who is responsible for taking on these people to carry out , what I think is probably the most or one of the most responsible positions in any establishment. Sack that woman, she is no good for ‘Toby Carvery’ Regards Kevin...
