The hotel is situated in an easy to reach location within the Medway towns, giving you access to all of the local towns, train stations etc. via a short car/ bus ride.
The room was reasonably sized and was decorated in a modern style, but unfortunately we found our room to have hairs etc left behind from the previous occupants, so I’m not convinced that they’re being cleaned properly. Our room was located on the opposite side of the hotel entrance, so unfortunately there was a lot of noise from the traffic on the main road. This is to be expected given the hotel’s proximity to the road, but still something to bear in mind if you’re a light sleeper. In terms of noise from other guests and things though, there wasn’t any to note. One important thing to note was that the room and the hotel in general isn’t air conditioned, nor is there a way of controlling the cooling of the room, only the heating, which even when turned off left the room at 24C regardless to if it was raining outside etc. I can’t imagine what it would be like staying here in the height of summer, so that may be something to bear in mind if you suffer from the heat.
We decided to add breakfast on to our stay, which takes place in the adjoining building. This was decent enough and seemed to have a lot of options to suit everyone’s needs, including vegetarian “meat” options that could be cooked on demand. Bear in mind that this breakfast is also available to the general public too, so you may want to give it a miss on the weekend days, or show up super early to avoid the masses.
The hotel staff, particularly “AJ”, really carry this hotel. They’re all very friendly and can’t do enough for you. Some of the maintenance ladies (sorry, I didn’t get your names) were very helpful and got me a fan for the room when the heat was unbearable and that helped significantly. AJ greeted us warmly when we arrived around midnight on our first night here and gave us a nice room and told us everything we had to know about our stay, and was just a general pleasure to deal with (exactly the sort of person you need to speak to when you’ve been travelling for 10 hours and are tired). If the manager’s reading this - you’re not paying him enough, he’s great. Sadly the breakfast staff in the adjoining building could be a bit friendlier. It all seemed a bit chaotic in there if I’m honest and the staff all felt a bit standoffish, which was a bit of an odd contrast when compared with how nice all of the hotel staff were.
Overall a decent experience and one of the better priced hotels in the area, so I’d likely...
