Weekday evening visit. Hearing of the Refurb, it was a good excuse to go and try out the food. Starter: Garlic Mushrooms The mushrooms on this were plentiful and nicely cooked, the bread was nicely toasted and crispy and enjoyable. The Garlic flavouring was lacking a bit though and I couldn't taste it to be honest. Main: Full Monty This was a very nice plate of food with a good portion size! The steak was done exactly how I asked and the other meats were cooked nicely too without being dried out. My only criticisms for this were there were a couple of chips that needed another 30 seconds in the fryer and the onions rings were a bit rubbery. While these two points were a negative, they weren't enough to spoil the meal as a whole. Dessert: Cheesecake I love a cheesecake, and always get one if its on the menu so have eaten a few! This one was the firmest cheesecake I've had and it seemed a bit odd, not sure why it was so firm. The base was quite thin too. Having said that, it was nice to eat. Overall, the visit was pleasant and the atmosphere is what you would expect from a pub. The staff are friendly, even while being rushed around so no fault there. Orders must be placed at the bar or from a QR code on the table. Cutlery/sauces are self service beyond the optional menu ones (big shelf opposite the bar) I would go again,

Staff were lovely, food 🫤, rather disappointing, but they're only working with what they have, so can't blame the chef, think hungry house should leave the jerk chicken to the Jamaicans chicken was far from any jerk flavour and very dry, wings were the same style as everything else except with a different sauce on, one dipping sauce that came with the jerk dish tasted like custard and was inedible. The rice had way to many peas in and tasted like it had been over cooked, corn on the cob was good tho, and the tandoori sizzler aside from the salad looking like it had seen better days was OK, overall its a lovely pub with a lovely beer garden nice atmosphere staff were so friendly, my partner didn't like to say the food wasn't good as he felt bad 😂, anyway we would return but stick to the mixed grill in future, worth a visit for sports as they have a big screen TV outside aswell, prices were very reasonable also.

Possibly worst really roast/meal I've had, had the big plate special roast beef which is suppose to be extra veg lashings of gravy and extra meat. As by the picture this did not meet expectations with 3 dry left over small bits of meat with hardly any gravy that could be cut with a knife. Ordered more gravy which took 20 minutes to come out and tasted burnt? Partners lasagne came out cold and sent back, and took 20 minutes before a Luke warm replacement came out. The 2 staff who served us looked rushed off their feet with other staff just chatting and uninterested playing loud music behind the bar, so felt guilty complaining to our servers about the meal. I shall be messaging direct with a complaint. I will be fair an say the burgers which were coming out for other customers did look ok, so not sure what happened to our meals?

First time attending to an 'event' which was Breakfast with Santa (2 adults and a 2 year old)... 100% would NOT recommend.

The hour we was there went a little like this... was escorted to our table with no instruction on the process, luckily by chance we randomly overheard that we needed to go to the bar to order and that the £10 deposit we paid would come off that bill.

Just before our food was to arrive a waitress came our to advise that there was no strawberries for the child's pancakes and asked to be substituted with raspberry, which was fine.

Food was served, the Santa pancakes are meant to be 'snowmen and Christmas tree shaped', they're were round. The sausages on the adults breakfast were undercooked, the bacon was burnt but not around the edges (reheated) and the toast was cold and the 'breakfast texas sloppy jo' had mushrooms and beans on it which was not on the menu description (and both of which is not liked by the person that has ordered and couldnt. E eaten) on the menu it only mentions ground sausage and cheese (this is new to the menu and not currently on the website at point of this review). Went to the bar to check the menu and was asked if I was okay I said I didn't realised that the sloppy jo had mushrooms and beans in which was just politely laughed at as I returned to my table, no concern or consideration given.

Bare in mind we wasnt aware of the process we didn't know when we was to see Santa. On route to taking the child to the toilet we happened to see him and the cat so we took our chance to get the interaction over with just to be provided in a small stuffed toy that everyone was getting which looked something from a McDonalds happy meal.

They had prebookings, they had deposits and this was the best they could do? Completely disorganised, disappointing, waste of a booking, waste of an hour and money for one of the adults to have to eat at home due to...

Hadn't been here for years and glad we picked this place as the food was really nice. As far as pub food goes it was well cooked, I had the mixed grill and the steak came out perfectly rare. It was quite busy but seemed to all running smoothly and guests were served pretty quickly with a conveyor belt consistency. I have a picky ten year old who devoured the Mac and cheese (impressive anywhere if he eats a lot). Customer service was decent but can't say there was anything that stood out as exceptional or in the realms of excellence but good I think fairly sums it up. Lacks a good front of house person if anything, someone to guide customers / manage diners etc. Atmosphere wasn't great but the venue can only control so much. Parents not parenting their kids and lots of screams and loud outbursts did affect the atmosphere to some extent. As a parent I don't feel bad for saying this as manners and respect seemed to of failed with the family we were sat opposite to. The outdoor area looks like a great spot for days with better weather and had a few heated seating areas / huts for the colder evenings as well as an outdoor bar area for a quicker service . I'll definitely return here for the garden next summer if not before. Nice and clean on the whole, can't complain about plates , glasses or cutlery or any horizontal surface but lots of food marks on the wood panelling next to the tables that could do with a clean. For somewhere that seems pretty decent otherwise it is a bit of a letdown that could easily be got on top of with a quick wipe up. I'll definitely return here in future and would recommend to anyone looking for a decent steak and a pint or just a bit of your...
