Fairly friendly staff; some better than others. Reception bloke on nights was sound and young man in the kitchen very polite and friendly. The place was visibly short staffed. Car park was just about full up on a night, big wagons taking up multiple spaces. The site is well located but the building is becoming dated. The guttering looks ridiculous. Room was okay, no wow factor whatsoever but it was clean and suited our minimal needs, but we had low expectations to start with. Acceptable at that price point. COVID restrictions meant that a like-for-like experience could not be achieved, but the company doesn’t pass the savings on to the customer. As we stayed over two nights we were told that cleaning staff wouldn’t enter our room, “but if you need anything at all just ask at reception”-we asked for loo roll and extra refreshments half way through our several night stay but we didn’t feel welcome asking for more. We felt like we had to make do with the towels originally provided. Why not keep extra towels / refreshments / loo roll in the actual room? You must be saving a lot of time and money by scrimping in this way. Don’t even get me started on the breakfast situation. They take your order once, claiming it’s unlimited / all you can eat (WARNING: it’s not a buffet anymore) BUT they don’t revisit the table to ask if you want anything else. We became wise to this and just ordered extra to start with. Lots of menu items are tiny so you’ve got to order several. We get that when you used to do buffet service (help yourself) staff didn’t feel the need / responsibility to check-up on tables; but now you’re doing table service you forfeit the right to be lazy and should now be actively checking up on customers, because we’re now at your mercy and you can’t have it both ways. One tea bag in a large tea pot to serve two people? Hideously weak. Hot chocolate not covered by breakfast, but it’s the same price as a latte. Staff always got our orders wrong with nearby tables too; so they just ended up handing plates back and forth. Half the restaurant was empty but they hoarded everyone on tables close together; doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know you need to spread people out. Snotty eggs, anaemic sausages and sticky bacon. If it was buffet style I would reach for the items more well done/cooked more; we don’t get that luxury now. Cutlery and mugs often had dishwasher residue on them; dreadful.
How do they cope when this place is FULL with customers? I...
Read moreFriendly enough staff. Lots of information about the local area. Train station within easy access, Spar shop for basics near by. Lots of room for parking, just be careful of the company work vans as they seemed to take up 30% of the car park. Noisy road around the front. Which was fine until the morning traffic and the car horns and some local (I say local as heard it every morning) idiot on his/her motorcycle revving his/her engine outside on the main road. Between 6am-10am kept getting woken up by that or someone slamming the door as they went down the stairs nearby. ||Inside the lift needed cleaning, did tell someone in reception, but obviously went in one ear and out the other.||I get the impression that it wasn't originally a Premier Inn as the furniture in the room wasn't their normal standard.|Only the bed and carpet seamed to be theirs. The shower curtain, might as well not have it, as the water ended up on the floor. Had to be careful getting out as made the floor very slippery.||Deep breaths, sigh. The WiFi, oh my it was rubbish. When your phone signal is that bad, you should be able to have some decent WiFi. Nope! Not here. They want you to buy their premium package. As their normal WiFi was so slow. I ended up having to put my 5g iPad on the window ledge and to share the signal to my phone. Even then I only had two bars of 4g signal, and that was better than their wifi. ||The Table Table pub on site. Only ate there twice. Food was of good quality and good portions. However both times there were items missing off the menu. Not just this site, but seams to be a problem at all of on-site Premier Inn bars or restaurants.||Breakfast was good, but depending on what time you go down for it you might get stale bread and pastries. Guess if you're going to toast the bread it doesn't matter. Just check the setting on the toaster as mine came out black.|Had to put it into the bin, and try again. The breakfast team were good and attentive. Answered any...
Read more5-Star Review Despite Noise Issues – Exceptional Staff Service
I recently stayed at Quintrell Downs and was initially placed in Room 1, right by the entrance/exit door. Unfortunately, the door lacked silencers, causing a loud slamming noise every time someone entered or left the hotel. This was incredibly disruptive, especially after a long 14-hour workday.
Jason and Kelly were quick to assist and moved me to another available room. However, due to the hotel being fully booked, the only option was right next door. Sadly, the noise continued until 1 AM and resumed at 4:30 AM, making it impossible to get any rest. As a type 2 diabetic, the lack of sleep seriously affected my blood sugar levels.
The next morning, I spoke with Naomi and Millie, who were extremely understanding and moved me to a quieter room on the second floor. Their kindness and willingness to help truly stood out.
The only reason I am giving 5 stars is because of the impeccable service provided by Jason, Kelly, Naomi, and Millie. However, I strongly urge the management to install door silencers—this is a small, cost-effective fix that would greatly improve the experience for guests staying in the first few rooms. Sleep is essential, and this issue could significantly impact customers' health and comfort.
A huge thank you to the amazing staff for their...
