We came here as part of our 7 day holiday in Cornwall. We only came here due to our friends (who we met in Tenerife last year) who live in Newquay and come here often. We saw how nice the food looked and checked the reviews on TripAdvisor. We booked a table for 1pm before we even left our house, due to the high demand for tables for Sunday lunch. We are staying very local, so it's very convenient for us to drive down. Well, can I just say, that the food and drink served here is absolutely amazing and did NOT disappoint us. Amazing presentation, extremely tasty food and superb customer service. The staff are very friendly as well as efficient/quick. We had the Sunday Roast and had desert too. I had the Eton Mess and my fiancée had the Rocky Road Sundae. Both courses were to die for. We would recommend this pub to everyone staying close by/in the area to book a table well in advance and see for themselves. The interior is very classy, yet very warm and welcoming. My advice is to arrive before your booking to ensure that you can park as there are limited parking spaces due to how popular it is.

Very strange, little pub situated on A VERY busy road. At first glance, from the carpark it looks closed and being disabled I am always loathe to make the walk... unless I'm certain of gaining entry. However, on this visit I did get inside and it's a very nice venue. They offer several Cornish beers and lagers and a couple of choices from beyond their borders. I chose a pint of Staropramen and it was cold and tasty...at £5.50 it was a little steep in value...my local neighbouring village in Hampshire, sells it at £4.79!!! They have a dedicated restaurant area, a small collection of tables and chairs in the pub proper, and a huge inglenook fireplace to welcome you on those chillier days. Unfortunately this pub is very dog friendly and I fail to understand why pubs with restaurants allow this? But on this visit the restaurant was empty and the dogs were free to roam. Friendly staff and locals.

Fantastic food, atmosphere, and friendly staff. We ordered the baked camembert with crostini to start, seafood pasta and rump steak for main, and sticky toffee pudding for dessert. We had our 18 month old daughter with us and she was looked after beautifully, with the waitress offering to send her food or with our starter. Food arrived quickly, nothing was too much trouble, service was quick and attentive. If I was being really picky, the food lacked some seasoning but we remedied this ourselves. All in all, it's so nice to find a pub with a relaxed atmosphere that serves up great quality food and has super friendly service. So glad we found this gem on our holiday.

Where to start..... Ordered satai stir fry with prawns. The stir fry consisted of almost uncooked peppers with pasta and prawns swimming in a sauce, no veg, and hard prawns. The waitress said the pasta was noodles, but it wasn't. I've had enough pasta and Tai food in my life to know it was pasta!! My husband had lamb in red wine sauce. It was more like a hot pot without much meat. Red wine sauce is reduced to a thick sauce, this was runny like a watery salty gravy, and the veg was harder than Al Dante if that's to your taste you're fine, but we won't be eating there again!!

Firstly, we are horrified we left without paying for our second drink and will be phoning with card details as we always pay our way !!

Secondly, a stir fry indicates more than just Peppers !! If your menu had said stick rice noodles I could possibly have been prepared for something that resembled pasta, and the prawns, well they were just tough.

Finally. Your menu states ' Braised Lamb cooked in a rich red wine gravy, topped with boulangere potatoes, honey roasted Carrots and buttered greens'......sounds delicious. It came out as a hot pot, with a few tiddly bits of lamb in a runny gravy. The waitress said it was a hot pot, and your interpretation of Al Dante is clearly different from most.

Perhaps our problem is that we are NOT used to eating in pub chains !!

Maybe we just got a bad batch !! I don't think we'll be eating with you again anyway. It would have left a better taste if you'd apologised, just as we apologised for the paux pas...

Been many times over the years. Food has always been good. Visited 23rd June 2019 and the menu was a bit disappointing. Everything seemed over complicated. Had we not booked. I think after looking at the menu we would have probably gone elsewhere. Couldn't find any starter that I wanted. Couldn't find any main. In the end had a pork roast dinner which was the only meat left. It was fine, good size portion reasonable price. Staff were all friendly. Place was bright and clean. No complaints. Next visit I'll check the menu online and decide. update: revisited tonight (6th june 2021), it's been a while since the last visit due to the lock downs. It was a little busier than we expected, been at the end of a school holiday, but that impression was because the beer garden was full. internally was only patrons eating, so there was actually plenty of space inside for those eating, and table service for those drinking outside. Sunday night, so the roast's has finished for the day, and there was a couple of menu items unavailable, but this is only to be expected with a later booking (7pm). They had said on the phone when we booked the week before that that roasts would prob be gone by that time. nice simple menu this time, we had fish and chips, and sirloin. All food up to the normal standards, decent portion size and great quality. Staff all as pleasant as normal, and all wearing masks etc. Nice enjoyable evening. Kudos to the team for still been happy and smiley after a busy...

My partner and I had been recommended this place with some high praises only to be left bitterly disappointed on our visit. We had ordered starters and mains, only for the starters to be forgotten and mains brought out. They brought the mains back and our starters came. The food was OK, I wouldn't say it was outstanding. When the mains came the gravy was like water amd looked like a sunday roast soup. Furthermore, what I'm assuming was supposed to be Yorkshire pudding looked like a left over bit of toad in the hole. We were going to have dessert but because of the mix up with our food and taking twice as long the kitchen closed. Whilst eating our mains a dog came and sat on the floor beside us begging the food off our plates watching every mouthful we ate. That was quite uncomfortable not being a dog lover myself, sorry to those who love them. We were offered a bottle of wine as an apology, but honestly it didn't feel apology enough. I am quite a tolerant person usually and could have put it down to error but the bar staff came and told us that they were carrying the waitress unnecessarily, they young waitress did have a sullen face anytime she was asked to do something which also made us uncomfortable. The prices of this resturant really did not justify the service. All I can say is after looking forward to the visit, I shall not be returning nor...
