Our stay at Gurt Yurt was amazing. We had a 4 & 6 year old who loved it. It is a back to nature experience with little luxuries to make it very special.||Tim & Sara couldnt have been more accommodating. They responded to messages immediately and were very flexible. We were greeted, and luggage taken to the Yurt while we made our way down the magical steps.||The Yurt is much larger than I thought and impeccably clean. There is a dining table to pull out to have a meal inside (this was great for the spot of rain we had) and to enjoy breakfast together. The lovely hot shower is fantastic and a very clean compost loo.||The garden is huge, with a hammock, two tire swings and a badminton net with rackets. We also played cricket!||I would really recommend pre- ordering a bbq – it was delicious.||We were also given complimentary prosecco, apple juice and marshmallows to toast on the open fire which was a lovely touch.||The whole place felt really secluded and private with loads of space for the kids to run around. Once we had put them to bed, we sat out and looked up at the stars which was so peaceful and relaxing. ||It was lovely to walk out in the morning to see the chickens roaming around. Tim kindly let the kids go and collect eggs and ride on the tractor which was a real highlight.||The location is perfect with loads of lovely pubs around and lots of things to do. Tim and Sara cannot do enough and are on hand to help with anything. We stayed for two nights, and it really wasn’t long enough. I am planning my next...
Read moreMe and my partner fancied a last minute night away from the city of Bristol, we found this campsite and it was perfect for a night away. The toilets were a bit more basic than we were expecting but they were always stocked with toilet roll, had hand soap, they were clean and being inside stables they were full of character and suited the style of camping. You’re surrounded by views of the rolling fields and coast line. They have built individual firepits for each pitch so you can all have your own fire and cook your food, we took a bag of logs with us but tue owner gave us a load of newspaper, kindling and fire lighters. They also have plenty of spare cooking utensils if you need them and camping chairs. They owner was so lovely and hospitable. He brought everyone that was camping eggs in the morning for breakfast from their chicken coup. They have an orchard wear you can sit and read a book or look out at the view. They have plenty of space for kids to run about and things for them to do. It’s a small campsite with only 6 pitches so it was intimate and quiet. It’s safe to say we will now be regulars at this campsite...
Read moreA small (maybe room for 10 big family tents?), out of the way campsite. Camping area was flat and nicely sheltered by a steep bank. Campsite owner was friendly and provided logs for the firepits. Do come here if you want somewhere to pitch up and then go off to do other things and generally be left alone to get on with it. This is a 'nearly wild' campsite so don't come here if you want a site shop and luxury facilities, toilets were very basic but clean. There's a local pub about a 5min walk away. It's a great location to go off and do outward boundy type stuff, we went potholing in Swildons Hole which was great fun.👍 The problem with giving a star rating for places like these is if you were expecting a glampsite you would give 1 star but if you come here knowing what to expect and you just need somewhere to pitch a tent you could give 5 stars coz it is what it is. This is more like proper camping. As I said the actual site was quite small but the farmer seemed happy enough for the kids to run around the fields ( with a cool tyre swing) so it didn't...
