Balmoral Guest House Liverpool — Hotel in Liverpool

Booked this room because of its positive reviews and it’s close vicinity to Aintree Hospital. Staying Monday to Friday while my daughter has an operation. I walk it in about 25 minutes but, by Uber, it’s only around £7. ||The rooms are quite small but are perfect and have everything you need. TV, really comfy beds, hairdryer, iron, fan and storage for clothes. The place is spotless and there is a communal kitchen where you can cook yourself a meal or help yourself to toast/tea/coffee/croissants/yoghurts and fresh fruit. There is only one shower room but, no matter when you use it, it’s clean with fresh bath mats and towels. Next to the kitchen there is a laundry room with washer and dryer. The property is secure and you access it with a key left in a box outside (you are sent the code when booking) and I have felt really safe here as a female staying alone. There is a Tesco Express, Iceland and an Aldi really close by plus lots of places you can eat.||It’s about £20 for an Uber into Liverpool centre but there are trains (and buses) available within two minutes walk.||The host sends you her mobile number if you have any questions and there is free Wi-Fi ||All in all five stars. Upon booking the property for new years eve on booking.com I was messaged by property owner Sarah who promptly asked of the groups ages to which i replied all members are either 20 or 21 - this shouldn’t of been an issue as the only age restriction mentioned was that the person booking the property was 21, which I am. She then stated that she’s apparently not accepting bookings by people under 25 which was not mentioned anywhere upon booking. I politely stated that all members of the group are paying adults and it is discrimination to refuse our stay on ageist grounds and kindly asked her to rethink her last statement- she proceeded to tell us to cancel the booking and continued with the discriminatory nature of her comments. After being appalled by the abysmal customer service, i decided not to fight for our rights any longer as it became clear this wasn’t a good place to stay- I cancelled my booking however i will be taking matters further as this is downright disgusting to refuse service to somebody because of outdated stereotypes. If i could give 0 stars, i would. Definitely not recommend, please save your time and money- avoid...

Arrived tonight 19/01/20. After the liverpool v utd game. The accommodation is first class. Room is clean and tidy with fresh towels. Kitchen is very nice with fresh milk in the fridge fresh bread and boxes of cereal. There is also a separate laundry room off the kitchen with washing machine and tumble drier. The shared bathroom is fabulous. I have already recommended it to lads that also come over from ireland for matches. High recommended Sarah. Spoke to her on the phone when we arrived.
