This is a fantastic little place tucked into a busy urban area of Liverpool. Got quite the surprise when we found the place.
There is a small farm with some well cared for animals including, a rabbit which was having the run of the place at the time, pygmy goats, and I think a pig or two. There are enough animals there to keep you entertained for a half hour. Then nearby there's a small park area with a climbing frame and beyond that a unique brick built church / Chapel.
Beyond this is a network of fields and woodland crisscrossed with paths which make fire a really interesting and fun walk. This is also linked with the church graveyards, among which there are commonwealth war graves. There is even a grave remembering someone who lost their life in the sinking of the titanic.
A very unique and interesting site to while away a...
Read moreThe city farm holds a lot of dear memories from my own childhood, and I never miss an opportunity to take my own kids, for them to create wonderful memories of their own.
It's not a big farm, and not a fancy adventure farm, but it has so much heart. The animals love to be stroked and hand fed, and at 50p for a bag of feed, you'd be daft not to! The staff are all wonderfully friendly, have all the time in the world to chat about the animals whilst they work away on their chores, and are always willing to help if they can. They hold lots of fun events for the local community here too. The farm has a lovely woodland walk to offer, as well as the farmyard and the animal fields. They sell fresh eggs for crazy cheap prices, and it's free to enter (though I'd always advise leaving a donation...

You're not going to get a day of entertainment with kids, but it's a very nice place to spend an hour or two.
The rest of the area is a graveyard slowly being reclaimed by nature. It might seem a bit odd to have sheep grazing around weathered old gravestones, but it works, and is a lovely place to take a wander.
Hard to believe there's a little slice of woodland and a farm right in the middle of Walton, but I guess that's testament to the work of the volunteers who keep the...
