The Moxy London Heathrow Airport certainly delivers on its modern and stylish aesthetic. The hotel's interior is very contemporary, particularly the lobby and communal areas. The lounge is a definite highlight, featuring eye-catching neon lights and a vibrant atmosphere. There are different, cleverly designed areas for seating—perfect whether you want to eat, drink, or just relax—making it a very modern-looking hotel inside.
However, the experience was significantly marred by several major operational issues, which made for a frustrating stay, especially as a family with a young child.
🚗 Parking Nightmare (Zero Stars for Parking): We arrived a full hour before the official check-in time, yet the hotel car park was completely full. The core problem appears to be that the hotel allows the general public to park there, leaving no spaces for paying guests. This forced us to drive around looking for street parking down side roads that were frankly shady-looking and felt unsafe. With a one-year-old baby, this situation was unacceptable. My partner had to stay in the room with the baby while I had to make numerous, long trips alone from the street to the hotel to carry all of our luggage and baby items. This was a terrible start to our stay.
🍳 The Slow & Empty Breakfast: The next morning, breakfast was a letdown due to the excruciatingly slow service. The hot food section was constantly running out. We were presented with empty serving bowls where the sausages, bacon, and hash browns should have been. Only scrambled eggs were consistently available. Adding to the chaos, there was only one toaster, which led to an excruciatingly long queue of guests waiting for toast.
🥵 Sweltering Hot Room: To top off the poor experience, the air-conditioning in our room simply did not work. The room was swelteringly hot, with the AC unit seeming to pump out nothing but more warm air. If you've stayed here and experienced this, you will know exactly what I mean. Opening the windows is not a viable option as the hotel is directly under the Heathrow flight path, making the noise from overhead planes absolutely deafening.
The Verdict: While the hotel looks great, the fundamental guest experience was deeply flawed. I absolutely would not recommend this hotel if you require on-site parking, expect an efficient and well-stocked breakfast, or if you are a family. The operational issues and lack of functional AC severely overshadow the...
Read moreBefore I get into the hotel review, I would like to give credit to three people who made my stay at this location extra special. First off was Fedja, who works at the front desk, he always took tome to come over and say hello and ask how my stay was going, which made me feel like I was a valued customer at the hotel. Then there was the dynamic duo Karina and Sydan, who always took time to talk with me about my day and my photography. All three of them are great assets to the hotel! They made me want to come back to stay again!
Now for the hotel, which is a nice place to stay, especially if you are looking for someplace under £100 per night. I stayed for 20 nights, which had more up’s than down's, which I will discuss in my review.
Let’s start with something good. The rooms are a good size, with all of the amenities you would expect from such a hotel. The room was cleaned everyday, unless I requested the room to not be cleaned for a day or two.
Only two problems with the room, and they were part of the design of the hotel, and Management really can't do much about them without a total hotel remodel. The first thing, there are no dressers in the room to unpack clothing from your bags. I had packing cubes that allowed me to unpack and stack everything, but a dresser would be nice, otherwise it is a place I would recommend for only a few nights. The other issue is the heating and air conditioning system. I arrived after the hotel switched to heating as opposed to cooling. The room would often be over 26C during the day and cool a bit at night. Signs on the wall instructed me to open a window to let cooler air into the room. Leaving the window open allowed insects into the room, as there are no screens on the windows.
The hotel restaurant has good food for lunch and dinner (I didn't have the breakfast), but for people on a budget it is quite expensive. A small pepperoni pizza and a pint of Diet Pepsi came to over £20.50 (£16.50 for the pizza and £4.00 for a pint of Diet Pepsi). Those prices made eating at the restaurant hard to do when there's cheaper local alternatives near the hotel.
The hotel is in a great location for public transportation as multiple buses going to different places are just outside the hotel or a stop is a short walk down the street.
Overall, I like this hotel, and I plan to stay here when I come back to visit in the...
Read moreThis is a minimal budget hotel near the airport. The parking is available within the hotel but needs to be paid for separately. There is no service in the hotel, aka porter, nor there is room service. Which is understandable as i guess it ia a budget hotel. The location is good from Heathrow and also is a few stops away from a bus to hounslow West tube station or you can get an uber for around £7. Overall, I personally won't visit this hotel, but if you don't mind small rooms and minimal service, then go for it.
The room I ordered was with two single beds. The room had no locker or cupboard, nor were there any toiletries. However, to be fair, you can get them from the reception for free. My main complaint is with regards to the single bed and the service. Each of which I will address below.
The single beds were unusually small width wise and are surely for the kids or hobbits, as there is no way one can turn over and not fallover. If one wants to change side they will have to move to the centre at the same time. You don't want to be sleeping with attentive mind as you will wake up tired and exhausted. We did not get a good night sleep over two days. Please avoid single bed and go for double. I told this at the reception and also advised them to try sleeping on the single bed, to which they stated the bed are ok. However, the manager did accept that they were small later when checking out.
There is no phone in the rooms and all is self-service. My specific grievance was regarding the breakfast service. I paid for breakfast for two at 1004am. and started to get the breakfast. Noticed that the breakfast section had a few things missing and some items were being taken away. Spoke to the person taking things away and was told breakfast finishes at 1000. My question then was why charge £15/person at 1004 when breakfast finishes at 1000. Told the manager or the person at the desk, and he stated that do you want it and tried to take all in one go. I stated that why charge at 1004 instead of stating breakfast has finished. This was quite unacceptable service and borderline dishonest. If they had told me breakfast has finished I would have gone outside to have breakfast and probably would have had a proper relaxed breakfast.
Overall, I will not visit the hotel again and instead pay a few pounds more to get a hotel with good rooms and...
