So I visited last night and paid for an order around £29 on the kiosk, the money was taken but order apparently didn’t go through, I paid again at the counter and was told by shift runner AMAN that my money will come back and it’s in pending. But today the money was cleared and taken from pending, Aman had told us that if the payment is taken we can get a refund. Now I don’t live local and I called the store and explained myself and even that I’ll be going back to my city Leicester tonight but I was told that he can’t help me because the senior manager is not there and the head office is closed. But that’s not the my fault? I paid twice! What about the inconvenience of driving back and wasting my fuel and waste of my time? This is terrible and the fact that he is saying that he doesn’t have any authority to refund and I have to wait even though I have to go back to Leicester. This is honestly terrible. Even worse the order is not even showing on my history. I believe my friend has received the money back. (He paid for the order) so we don’t need the money back again but this is now feedback. The manager Amaan doesn’t have a clue about managing. When asked to reprint my receipt, he said he doesn’t know how to do it and has to call his senior manager Rowland to find out how to print a receipt who didn’t even answer the calls. Secondly when asked that if he gives us a food reference, will that work anywhere, again he said he doesn’t know and has to ask his senior, he kept saying come in the morning, we have work morning how inconvenient is that? Why can’t the manager who is responsible for that shift help us with his own mistake even though he had said with full confidence that if payment is taken from the statement then he will be there to refund and when asked for a refund with proof, he says he has no authority. There were several customers there who were also complaining about the service being slow (too slow, I work as a manager in McDonald’s myself so I can tell it was actually very poorly slow) I offered him many solutions which I would provide as a manager but his ego couldn’t take it and he decided to walk away in anger and said “I’m not dealing with you anymore go to head office” even though we spoke calmly and only wanted our money back because we paid twice, he kept asking us for the receipt even though he himself had taken the second payment in cash from us. I had a previous issue and gave them the benefit of the doubt, but the problems are clearly systemic and a serious health risk. My most recent order was a catastrophe. For the SECOND time, I found a hair in my food—this time, embedded in both the baked beans and the burger. This is beyond a simple mistake; it is a critical failure in basic food hygiene and safety protocols. The issues don't stop there:
Food Quality & Temperature: The buns are consistently ice cold in the middle, while the chicken is scalding hot, suggesting a complete lack of care in assembly. The chicken and hot wings have a rubbery, chewy texture and a stale taste, strongly indicating they are being left out and re-fried, not cooked fresh.
Staff Hygiene & Appearance: The staff preparing the food are visibly unclean. I have witnessed dirty uniforms on multiple occasions, which is utterly unappetizing and reinforces the lack of hygiene standards.
Poor Service: The drive-through experience is frustrating. There is a significant language barrier that makes ordering difficult, leading to errors and confusion. In a customer-facing role at a major international airport, clear communication should be a minimum requirement. Furthermore, staff at the collection window are unwelcoming, never offer a smile, and leave you with a sense of dread about the meal you're about to eat.
The overall atmosphere is one of neglect and apathy. It is clear that this branch is severely mismanaged and has no pride in its product or service.
Recommendation: DO NOT EAT HERE. We will certainly never be returning. I strongly recommend that local food health and safety authorities pay this location an unannounced visit. One significant downside was that all of the bins in the restaurant were full and overflowing, which detracted from the otherwise clean and pleasant environment. There seemed to be little to no signal, which could be inconvenient for those who need to stay connected while enjoying their meal.
