Hmmmm... ok, so this a basic Premier Inn, so don't expect too much. Parking can be hit and miss as spaces are tight and some of them at awkward angles. Some didn't bother using a bay at all and just dumped their vehicle where they wanted, so advice to all is park considerately please to avoid inadvertent accidental damage.
Bev, covering the front desk and addressing any queries or issues we had, is a credit to the Premier Inn brand, so thank you!
Sadly, Bev is the only great thing we have to say about this Premier Inn. Bev provided two extra pillows for us, along with a couple of single duvets to soften the springs felt through the mattress adorning a put-you-up bed. The toilet pan/cistern connection leaked, which meant we not only had water seeping in from the base of the toilet cabinet, but it smelt like a sewage plant in the room. The extractor fan was old and noisy, so not an option to leave on all the time. Bev was off the next day after we arrived, so a colleague had addressed the request of resolve with the maintenance crew, who are an external company.
Nothing was fixed during our two day stay, so towels were used to block the huge gap under the toilet door and also to soak up the foul water from around the base of the toilet.
It doesn't end there! The occupants next door seemed to enjoy partying all night and wake early, screaming and shouting at one another. It was a family by all accounts, as the walls aren't the thickest to dampen hearing their every raised word. Music channels on the tv were turned up loudly too next door, so needless to say their wake up noise at 6am ruined our stay further.
Bev was great again and was mortified we had to endure not just the smell, but the unsurprising noise from the room next door. Already had complaints? Many, like us, may well be asking them to honour their "Great Night Sleep Guarantee" then.
Thank you Bev, but sadly this Premier Inn won't be hosting us again...
Read moreWe've used this hotel in the past and it was great however on this occasion it fell short for a number of reasons. Initially one of two USB charging points didn't work which I reported to reception as I did not want to be blamed for it. Bedding was definitely used and a lumpy with only one pillow each and no extras in the room like there used to be. Bath towels had a funky smell like they hadn't been dried properly. Room was 21c on a fairly hot day with no fans available, with 3 in a room this became uncomfortable going into the evening. Evening meal was had nextdoor in the Beefeater which initially was very good but when the chef burnt the salmon he was rather peeved it was sent back making us wait another twenty five minutes for our main course again. The ultimate WiFi didn't work in our room which was reported to reception. The lady put me on the phone to their IT support which told me they'd look into it and call back shortly - that never happened. The following morning I requested a refund from reception but that too never happened. We'd only traveled down for a family wedding and needed a relaxed good night's sleep which to be fair we didn't get. The wife was awake at 430am, sat in the car with aircon on to cool down because the room was to hot. In all it wasn't what we expected but as proven before when you complain you do not get a refund as they promise and you don't always get what you pay for either. But once parted with your hard earned, you're not going to see it again no matter what. I use Premier Inn for business and leisure up and down the UK but after the last few I will be trying a different chain to see how it compares even if it means a few...
Read moreBy far the worst hotel that I have ever stayed in. The WiFi does not work, if you are with O2 you can expect no phone reception whilst in the hotel. Room climate controls do not work, or do not exist and the windows have limited opening. Moreover, the TVs are not smart enabled, so no YouTube or apps available.||Currently building works are being done and although this finishes at 17:00 every day, the noise does stop. The constant noise from all the builders outside slamming work van doors and sitting in the vehicles with music and engines running carry on until late at night. ||On a positive note, the staff here have been extremely supportive and welcoming. I can honestly say that I have witnessed firsthand the patience and professionalism far above the expectations of such a run down hotel, which otherwise would have made this an unbearable experience.||Furthermore, I would like to highlight the lady at the front desk who was working the evening/ night shifts, I believe she needs recognition for her attitude and knowledge that exemplifies the best in hospitality. I honestly believe that due to the outstanding service and hospitality, this staff member has exhibited that she would not be out of place working in a...
