It was a quiet and fairly dull Friday night, I had just spent the best part of 3 hours crawling through traffic on the motorway as we approached the hotel. As we got closer we couldn’t find anywhere to park, which is the last thing you want after a 3 hour drive right? Wrong. We called the hotel and the lovely gentleman expertly guided us to a lovely hidden parking space! First impressions are huge, and this certainly started off well. The gentleman came out to greet us and walked us into the hotel where you are met with a powerful blend of delight and dark colours, marble floors, fantastic lighting and a very calm and sophisticated aroma.
Within a few minutes we were checked into our room which we were simply stunned by.
You are first hit by a beautiful warm fragrance as you enter the room, and as you walk through you see the work of a superior interior designer who’s managed to make you feel like you’re in a top spot in Dubai. The colours and little touches do not go unnoticed and when you walk in the bathroom you’re left speechless from the beautiful walls, floors and overall design!
The bed was extremely comfortable, and who doesn’t like a lotus biscuit with a late night cuppa eh?
The next morning we were woke by the chef to a BEAUTIFUL and well presented breakfast, that satisfied both your stomach and your eyes.
All in all. I would recommend this hotel for ANYONE as it absolute value for money and the hospitality is top notch. A massive gem in Oldbury away from the hustle and bustle of the Birmingham...
Read moreExceptional service! The lady at the front desk was incredibly friendly, and I haven’t experienced such courtesy in quite some time. She took the time to show us around, explained every detail thoroughly, followed up on enquiries, and truly went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience.
The hotel itself is housed in an old building, but it’s been beautifully refurbished and tastefully decorated. Our room matched the photos online, though it was slightly smaller than expected – but that’s often the case, isn’t it? My only gripe, especially during the winter, was the bathroom. It was absolutely freezing, with no heating, and in our case, there wasn’t even a floor mat, which made it quite uncomfortable.
Unfortunately, we didn’t get a chance to try the breakfast, as we had to cut our stay short due to a family emergency. That said, it looked promising, and the fact that the desk lady followed up with us by phone was such a thoughtful touch.
All in all, though our stay was brief, it was very pleasant, and I’d definitely return. There’s parking available right outside the building, though it’s half-kerb parking. We were lucky to find plenty of space on arrival, but I can imagine it might be a bit tricky during busier times.
The price is about double what you’d pay for a Premier Inn or Travelodge, but the exceptional service and overall atmosphere make it worth the premium. I’d much rather pay a bit extra for this kind of experience than skimp and end up...
Read moreI have mixed feelings about this place. The staff is helpful and friendly—perhaps a bit overly attentive at times, which might not suit everyone. The property is well-decorated in a sort of “luxury gypsy tent” style and, to be fair, it’s clean. I understand why most reviews refer to the hotel as a “gem.” There was a sense of relief when stepping inside, away from the rough surroundings outside. But unfortunately, that’s where most of the charm ends.
This is NOT a boutique hotel, no matter how desperately it wants to be. There are no coffee-making facilities in the room—a basic expectation in any establishment claiming to be upscale. The shower, while stylish, is an absolute disaster: cold, doorless, and profoundly uncomfortable. It becomes an exercise in frustration, especially when waiting ages for hot water that never seems to arrive. Worse still, the temperature and water pressure are wildly inconsistent, depending on whether anyone else in the building dares to use a hot tap.
The food was a bit odd. Fish on a bed of ravioli, drowning in a puddle of melted butter—it was freshly cooked, sure, but tasted like something just picked off the shelf at a local supermarket. For a place charging these prices, I expected a culinary experience, not a poorly executed experiment.
The entire stay—both the accommodations and the meals—was overpriced for what was offered. Style without substance, and comfort without consistency....
