I went with a good friend and we were both SO pleased with the outlay of the bus - it’s not ACTUALLY Skoolie, as this is a replacement, but there was a shower & toilet on board this one. The problem was, the toilet wasn’t working, so we were told not to use it, which was fine as the outdoor toilet and shower are really close and there’s one per vehicle, so we didn’t have to share. The site itself is small, but perfect and SO quiet and peaceful. There were games and a small welcome pack when we arrived, which was a lovely touch - but no option for dietary requirements (my friend is Coeliac) but we weren’t expecting it so hadn’t let them know. The there was a fridge/freezer, but the fridge was broken - they provided an alternative fridge, which was vital as I have medication that needs to be kept in the fridge and it was SO hot in the bus that anything fresh would have gone off straight away. We went as this heat wave hit and on the first night we both noticed a “background” smell from the toilet. As the heat increased, the smell became overwhelming and even though we kept the toilet door shut, there were holes drilled in to stop condensation, so the smell was awful! It permeated everything, we smelt it on our skin and in our clothes (probably not as bad as we thought but it was so strong in the bus that it felt like it clung to us) There is a number to call for Cheryl - the site manager - but it felt “petty” at first, then, by the second day, as it got stronger, we thought we’d just deal with it as we were leaving the next day. But, if this weather continues, we thought we should let Cheryl know as the guests after us might not be as easy going. |It was such a shame as I booked this after watching the show, so had waited some time for the break, and we were both excited to actually see it and live in one. To be left with such a negative memory - NOT due to the accommodation or site, but due to something we would never have thought would have tainted the whole experience, is not a reflection on how brilliant the site is and how much attention to detail has gone into it. I would STILL recommend anyone who is thinking of booking to go ahead, as they won’t be disappointed, and if the toilet is removed (it’s not necessary as the outdoor toilet and shower are perfect) then I/we really...
Read moreWe really enjoyed our stay on Mahala, the little boat. Quirky, full of love and lots of attention to detail. Also an amazing amount of extra outside space for cosying up near the fire. An added bonus that we were not expecting was the extra personal gert that acted as a sitting room. We lit the fire and played board games in there one evening. Melbourne is a great town. So many pubs and restaurants to choose from if you don't want to cater for yourself. Location - I loved it. Tucked away down a little track in an open sunny field. The site provides fire pits, an abundance of fuel, loads of outside games etc. The vehicles are quite close together, but really well organised so that every one has its own space. Some people have commented about the flight path. The site is on the flight path, which will be more of an issue depending what time of evening you go to bed. I think that they must stop at a certain time of night because it didn't interrupt my sleep, but I guess it might affect some if you ate especially sensitive to it. Cheryl was very helpful, also the staff in the Brewhouse were very approachable and provide directions to the site. It is possibly some of Cheryl's art work that you will see in the vehicles. You should ask her about it.
We were only there for two nights, but if we had stayed longer it looked like there were a lot of walking trails and cycle paths nearby to explore. We would...
Read moreI’d booked our stay from 19th till 22nd April arriving on the Friday with a warm welcome from Cheryl. I booked to stay on Patricia, Maltese public transport bus,she can host for up to four people.
This bus was AMAZING, she has been lovingly designed by Johnny Vegas, and this is clear to see from the sign wringing, tiles designs, fabrics as it all reflects his wonderful creativity. Patricia is named in memory of his much loved late mum. Patricia has a fixed double bed (I’m 6ft 1 and my daughter and I had plenty of room) The seating area also converts easily into a double bed. The fully kitted kitchen was wonderful and even has a WC, and a shower unlike any other, you will never find a shower like this one as this shower has tiles hand-made by Johnny. We loved sitting outdoors enjoying the outdoor seating area, we played cards (a deck from the bus, from Malta 🇲🇹) the outdoor space has outdoor bench seating, a table, and Lol’s Bar, named after Johnny’s Dad. We also had an individual outdoor fire pit, ideal for BBQs; and our own beautifully converted horse trailer bathroom. We enjoyed the communal areas too playing scrabble with neighbours and toasting marsh mallows one evening around the communal fire pit and sharing birthday cake with others who joined us x
