It's a perfect beer/pub experience/food night out! We were booked for 6pm on a Sunday which is the unwritten last sitting for a Sunday so (understandably) there were waitresses standing close to where we were sitting quietly in 'ushering us along' mode ..but - as I said, it was Sunday and we've all got homes to go to and lives to lead ...So, we arrived at 1645 and all 7 of us had several drinks at the very well stocked bar (at least 12 different ales, ipa's & ciders) at prices commensurate with the local area which is affluent. The bar has recently had THE MOST thoughtful refit which makes one think that you are drinking in a brewery tap room 🙂👍..which I think does encourage you to imbibe freely? 🤪🤭 anyhow - we had looked at the menu before moving in to the separate dining area where the waitresses did well to get our order as I think by then we were 'pleasantly confused'. Shout out to our dedicated waitress who delicately and respectfully handled my Wife who loudly ordered for me 🤨💘😠 ..and after 28 years is annoyingly correct about my appetite. I ordered the 6oz burger which is surprisingly filling, 2 diners ordered 1 of 2 dedicated vegetarian choices, 3 ordered the fish & chips (ACE 10/10), and 1 ordered the roast ..nobody complained about anything, the entire service was befitting an establishment rated much higher than this one ...onto dessert, I'd already decided on my choice ..which unfortunately is not what I would have wanted - the dessert menu, which offers a good level of choice exceeding that of a pub serving food, again serving ample portions ..but unbeknownst to me, we'd already brought our own birthday cake .. The Spirit Vaults did not insist on a service charge for this, despite losing £30+ in dessert revenue. FINALLY... a personal request ..please, please, please ..consider adding a Sundae range to your dessert choices - if you had a banoffee sundae, a strawberry sundae or God help me, a chocolate sundae, I would have thrown myself under the bus and took my wife's wrath .. despite having the birthday cake, and had the chocolate sundae. From a business point of view, you can charge £5.95-£7.95 all day long for a banoffee sundae 🍨 😀 👌 and get away with it ...so, please consider it, and if you do ..please advertise it! All in all, a fabulous evening with family..one of which we will repeat with friends very soon. Thank you for...
Read moreAbout time I gave my local a review, based on the fact I visit often for drinks and at least once a month for food. ||The range of beer and other drinks is incredible. None of your terrible mass produced nonsense badged up to make it look like it comes from Spain, when in fact it's made in Burton, instead real ale brewed in the pub's own brewery, amazing craft beers, great wine and a very interesting range of spirits from small batch businesses. ||The food is amazing. We try and eat there at least once a month. I've loved everything I've tried from the ever changing menus, catering for my Vegan partner is never a problem with several options on the menu. The restaurant is a great area away from what can be at times a busy bar and perfect for conversation over dinner. The rib eye steak is probably the best I've ever had, and I've travelled the world with my job over the years.||The staff are excellent, have a great knowledge of all they sell and always happy to accommodate the odd unusual request! ||Overall the pub is beautiful, The attention to detail in all areas speaks volumes about the owners. Everywhere is spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. I've not seen the bedrooms (I live 5 minutes away!) but I would expect they are amazing.||There does seem to be a couple of very peculiar reviews from others on here, I would very much advise that they are disregarded as being from those that maybe visited once and a small niggle had them over-reacting.||Easily the best pub and restaurant in Melbourne, by a country mile. We love the Spirit Vaults and look forward to our visits for food, I enjoy visiting without my partner for some great food and conversation with...
Read moreHad a lunch today was charged £12 for a trout starter which was miniscule. When asked by the waitress on clearing the plates I reported that I expected a normal portion for £12 she reported trout is expensive.I stated I know exactly how much trout is, and received no response at the end of our main I repeated how I was unhappy about the potion size of the starter literally 4 mouthfulls to the waitress she said you complained to another waitress not me, so I asked to speak to the manager who nether presented herself. I decided to try at the bar and asked who the manager was, a women stated its me and I came to your table.i said yes you came to the table and she said are these glasses empty. I had asked to see the manager do you just ignore your customers. She replied I spoke to the kitchen and they said this is the price we charge.I asked why she didn't give any feedback to her customers, another waitress told me I didn't have to be so rude. I left flummoxed that I was the one being rude.Really what has happened to the customer being king or a least the customer being respected. I am really surprised that I was not provided the customer service you expect as a paying customer. I have eaten here several times in the past and always been happy with the food and the service.Such a shame! I expected better customer to address the £12 starter, bear in mind the...
