Utterly appalling experience – the worst customer service I have ever encountered.
We only ordered from The Brewhouse because the other vendors had run out of food. We were with a group of friends and placed our orders one after the other, within moments of each other. Everyone else’s food arrived without issue, but after half an hour ours still hadn’t appeared.
When we asked a member of staff how long it would be, we were told it would “probably be a while” and that it was because we had ordered separately – a completely ridiculous excuse considering how quickly our friends’ food had come.
We waited even longer before asking again, only to be told they would “check.” A friend then overheard staff at the bar discussing our order and implying that we had already had our food. My friend immediately corrected them, explaining that two of us were still waiting. It was only then they admitted our order had been completely missed off and said they would sort it.
The waitress came over to reassure us but bizarrely decided to tell us she was just having crisps for dinner – while eating them in front of us! At this point, we had already been waiting over an hour and a half.
When the food finally arrived, it was wrong. I had ordered a large chickpea curry with a samosa and was given a tiny portion. When I questioned this, I was bluntly told they “don’t do large portions” – despite the fact it’s clearly listed on their menu. I refused to wait any longer and asked for the refund difference. The waitress walked off, returned a few minutes later, and threw a £10 note at me without a single apology before walking away.
The whole experience was beyond disappointing – it was infuriating. The staff are clearly untrained in even basic customer service, the kitchen can’t handle the volume of orders they take, and the prices are outrageous for what you actually get. Avoid this place...
Read moreThis was our second visit based on a good experience back earlier in 2024. Booking on line was easy and the table was ready on arrival. The location and setting is lovely. Again, the selection of craft ales was a little strange and random. A selection of local real ales would be my preference. The first disappointment was that the menu has been reduced in volume compared to earlier in 2024 (no goat curry, jerk chicken) and then to compound matters we were advised that three items on the limited menu were unavailable. For starters we had the three different types of Arancini and we were delivered 7 smallish balls for a cost of £36. For the main course all choose the special of Sri Lankan fish curry. The fish was cooked perfectly as was the rice. The very thin liquid curry was bland and had us all reaching for seasoning. Overall a big disappointment compared to before. Please bring back the wider menu, get some local beers on tap and make sure you can deliver what is...
Read moreFirst time visit to the brewhouse, it's tucked away at the back of the old courtyard in a very quaint setting. Visited early evening on a weekday and wasn't very busy. They have a selection of ales on tap, various IPAs. The seating and layout is pretty unusual, with old cattle stores used as booths. The menu is simple, pizzas and sharing boards and all reasonably priced. The staff were friendly, albeit a little understaffed as it got busier. I would have given 5 stars, but where we were seat, next to the patio doors, is where all the food comes in from the kitchen, which is across the courtyard. It was like an artic wind blew in every time the staff came in. I'm sure that's no issue in the summer, but not the best setup for winter. That said would highly...
