What a find. I've not been to Melbourne for decades, and it's all fancy restaurants that charge £12.50 for a piece of marinated octopus that's seen a stick of asparagus. I went to the Melbourne Inn and what a find. It was Sunday and they only do Sunday lunches. Three choices of meat beef, turkey and the other I forget. I just had a main course £8.75 (ish) and it would have fed a bear. Huge portion, loads of delicious, tender meat, mash, peas and a sides of carrots, cabbage, cauliflower cheese and a huge gravy boat and a dish of horseradish sauce. The staff are friendly, attentive, and courteous, everywhere is Covid compliant. The premises are clean and airy. It appeared to have a lot of local clientele, which is usually a good sign. In a nutshell, great food, huge portions, cheap and the staff are lovely.

Came here for lunch after walking near Staunton Harold reservoir. Lovely calm pub atmosphere, nice for young families, good selection of drinks on draught and a good burger menu. We had the British lamb burger and Texas burger, food was great. As was the service, good recommend a drink and the chef personally asked how was the slaw as he was trying a new recipe, was pleased to tell him it was ace! Highly recommended if in the area

I had the most amazing Sunday lunch with my parents today. Our usual pub was fully booked so we thought we would try here and what an absolute gem of a place it was. The service was fantastic and the food simply gorgeous and very reasonably priced. I cannot fault this place and we will most definitely be back again.

we went sunday as a couple for the first time and we could not fault the food [ 5 stars ] it was friendly enough and the service was fine as it was a busy period . but please be aware if its your first time like us as the noise levels were to much given the large group near bye who had total disregards for the other dinners and were obviously regulars or local , that we just about could cope with but then 2 owners sat with dogs close by and the dogs smelled as they were very close which put us off as their was no signage or staff warning of this or giving you the option of eating in a dog free area , we have nothing against dogs it is just our personal preference . it was a shame as the food and the staff were so good but as a none dog owners it has defiantly put us off in future unless their is an area where you can eat with out a dog being 2 foot away...

This is a tough call. This Pub has been through so many tenants since I have lived close it is untrue. It could be because the Pubco tie is impossible to manage. It is very hard to turn a failing Pub in to a success without some very big changes. And the very first is that the beer has to be great. And when I visited last week, it wasn't. Big brewery cask beer and indifferent keg cider and beer. And one of the cask beers was old and stale. Nice enough decor and friendly smiley staff. But a pub is going to be judged on its drinks offering and at the moment this is not good enough. I truly don't believe that this is the landlords fault at all, it is a symptom of how the big pubcos run pubs nowadays. And why they eventually close at an...
