This JUST HAPPENED TODAY! We are relocating from the Midwest to New Mexico. We decided to spend Labor Day weekend at the KOA in Alamogordo. The grounds are well maintained and it’s easy to navigate. However…. Watch out for the grounds keeper.
We have a large Class A motor home and had rented their premium site in front of the office. As we were getting ready to leave, I pulled into a vacant spot in front of our site so my husband could pull out. As I wait for him to maneuver, I get an aggressive knock on my window. I role down my window and the grounds keeper said in an aggressive tone “HEY don’t pull through MY empty sites. Now I have to re-rake!” He then proceeds to tap on his head as to notion that I need to think. I apologized and backed out of the site. As we pulled around, I see him proceed to a resident site and witness him badmouthing us to him. As my husband waved to the him, he motioned to “Get Out”. So once I told my husband what had just happened, he promptly went into the office to inform the office personnel what had just happened. My husband told me that they were very understanding and apologized for his behavior. This behavior sends a very clear message to me that WE are not welcome here.
If public humiliation and shit talking employees is your thing, then I would highly recommend this place. However, if you expect a certain level of professionalism from staff, and want to feel that you are welcome and invited to return, I would steer clear of this place. This...
Read moreThis is an older park and like most older parks it is a bit tight for big rigs although doable. We were here 2 weeks in site #16, a pull through with a cement picnic table and a privacy wall made of cinder block. The space was a bit tight for our 5th wheel with slides on both sides due to the power box and water hookups in the site. They are not at the edge of the site which reduces the size of the space by about 3 to 4 feet in width. In addition, the cinderblock wall on the other side and large cement picnic table gave us little room for our right slide and steps leaving us with a very narrow walkway to our door. If the power was moved there would have been no problem. There are trees in the park as well, but not an obstacle and were well groomed. The staff here were very friendly and constantly grooming and working on the park. They also lead you to your site which is very helpful especially in a big rig in a park that is tight. ||Note… |* The pool is seasonal and it was closed in April.|* Going to White Sands? They have sleds to borrow for free! |* You can get mail and packages delivered here. |* Internet - average typical RV better at night with wineguard booster.|* Noise - Quiet park with train occasionally in the distant. The whistle might wake a light sleeper but train traffic is light.|* Verizon - Worked fine and I...
