Alamo Pancake & Steakhouse Grill — Restaurant in Alamogordo

We went here for breakfast this morning. We ordered and while we were waiting, a young man came in asked how long it would take to get a meal. He was in a hurry. She said not long at all, so he waited. When the food finally came, about 25 minutes later, he asked for a to go box. He was upset. Heyelled he needed to pay now or he was going to walk out. The waitress slowly made her way to the register. I told you this story so that you understand slow to non existent is a theme here. We asked for extra napkins, which we never got. Some things, (ketchup, toast) took a while to get. During the previous ruckus decribe, the yelling rattled my husband and he spilled his tea. Since we did not have napkins, it went everywhere. The waitress came by, saw tea going all over the table, and said not to worry. They cleaned them with rags. I explained I would not like more tea dripping in my lap, so she proceeded to bring us three napkins, AFTER she made her coffee refill rounds. Along with this, we asked to pay for another genteman's meal, anonymously (we do this often and do NOT want the person to know we did it. We don't want the thanks for it...just to make people who might need a hand or encouragement feel better). He got up and went to the rest room as we were leaving, and the waitress told him we paid for his meal. We had asked twice not for him to know. Needless to say I was not happy. The food was ok. But I've found as I grow older, it's not just about food, it's about an enjoyable experience in life, or a negative experience. This breakfast was negative. I try not to let the negative get to me. Not a steak house. Steak is an afterthought. Wait time was extraordinarily long. Food served was not what was on the menu. We were greeted when we entered, told to sit where we wanted, all of the tables were either dirty or taken. The one empty one we were going to go to was blocked by another customers chair and they had their personal items on it. Then when a table was cleared, we were sat without menus. We waited an additional 10 min for menus. Ordered Jalepeno poppers with cheddar, (per menu) they were served with cream cheese inside, not cheddar. 30 min later we finally got our meals. Steak and eggs, and pancakes, eggs, bacon. We ordered food to go. Steak burrito and california Ckn salad. (It came with the wrong dressing and missing the guac, tortillas and sourcream as stated on the menu.) I asked for tomatoes and cucumber otherwise it would have just been lettuce. Steak burrito was so small, only 3 small pieces of steak, some beans and rice. Not worth $11. When I ordered the waitress asked if I wanted the beans and rice inside of the burrito, after seeing what I got, was the burrito going to just be meat? The small 3 pieces of meat? It was apparent that the restaurant employees (cook sat at a table chatting for about 20 min while the place was behind) one waitress stood at the cash register trying to figure out how to use it for 15 min or so.) My first clue was that there was only one other customer in the restaurant when we arrived at 4 PM. My son ordered a Bacon Avacado Cheeseburger. I got a thing I read as chorizo and hashbrowns mixed together with my choice of egg. I asked for my eggs over medium and red sauce after finding out the green was quite a bit spicier. While we waited I checked reviews because I was concerned about the lack of customers. I was relieved to see 4 stars. The burger arrived first which was missing the avacado. The thing I got came as a scramble of egg, chorizo and apparently hashbrowns, topped in almost as much green sauce as food and 4 sprinkles of cheese (very modest portion size). The waitress offered to have her remake because of the green sauce. I asked about the eggs and was told that wasn't an option when she put it in. I accept that I may have read it wrong, but why didn't she tell me that. The cook had disappeared when the waitress took the burger back to get the avacado so it took several more minutes. I feel bad giving a negative review. This is my first for a restaurant. My husband always says never to go to a restaurant that doesn't have any cars in the parking lot. I guess he's right.
