If hell ever freezes over, I guarantee you it will be inside the Dimond Center Hotel. I have stayed in some questionable places before—gas station parking lots, the floor of an airport, a tent in a bear-infested forest—but never in my life have I experienced the sheer, unapologetic absurdity of this place. It all started when I checked in, and the front desk staff greeted me with the enthusiasm of a DMV employee who just stubbed their toe. They took one look at me and decided, “Yes, this one belongs in the dungeon.” So they assigned me to what I can only describe as a haunted shoebox—no heat, no space, just an icy void where my soul went to die. This wasn’t a hotel room; it was a meat locker with furniture. I half expected to find a frozen woolly mammoth under the bed. When I dared to ask for a room that didn’t double as an arctic survival challenge, they basically told me, “Tough luck, buddy. Embrace the frost.” They were fully prepared to let me turn into a human icicle and display me in the lobby like some kind of cautionary tale for future guests. With no other options, I did what any desperate, shivering traveler would do: I left and found shelter in a manger. That’s right, a literal manger. I spent the night curled up in hay, sharing warmth with a reindeer who seemed genuinely concerned for my well-being. When a wild animal shows more hospitality than a hotel, you know something has gone terribly wrong. At checkout (which I assume they expected me to do posthumously), they still had the audacity to charge me as if they hadn’t just tried to reenact the Titanic iceberg scene with my actual body. I walked out feeling like Jack Dawson before he sank. If you’re into frostbite, emotional trauma, and a free trip to the afterlife, by all means, book a room. Otherwise, save yourself and sleep in a Denny’s booth. Would I stay here again? Only if my other option was a snowbank—and even then, it’d be a tough call.

It is hard to give a good review when the day(s) weren’t good. Got weathered in at Anchorage airport for 3 days and had to overnight at this hotel twice. Friday when I got to the room the window had been left open in 17 degree weather and it took a while to get the room warmed then at 3 am a couple got drunk and loud. Still the room(s) both nights had clean comfortable beds, big soaking tubs, lots of towels, and the staff were super nice and efficient. The airport shuttle leaves the hotel on the hour 24/7. Breakfast was a cut above normal, with eggs and potatoes, hot oatmeal, pancakes, along with the usual fruit and cereal and breads. The bar restaurant had really nice fish and chips and there is a mall, Walmart, Sam’s Club, and loads of restaurants. I walked 1/2 mile to the Texas Roadhouse and the food was worth every step.

This property looks for all the world like it used to be either a car dealership or a bank. Breakfast was included on our stay. The surprise was my coffee aficionado husband choosing their coffee over Starbucks (his main ride) for the drive. Personnel are friendly and helpful. Some rooms can be a bit noisy depending on location. Word to the wise: wear earplugs to sleep & you won’t notice. 😉

We booked a room with a king size bed and a tub that had jets in it online. Upon arriving and being met by the most unfriendly front desk person we have ever come across we were told that neither of those were available. From here things just went more downhill with situations consisting of: No room service available Room included free wifi, but rather then just supplying us with the information to use it, the same unfriendly front desk person made it a point to ask if we were going to be using it before she would even supply the information. If its included in the room it should just be supplied whether we are going to be using it or not. Asked what time checkout was and was told noon. However, on the website and on our confirmation notice it says 12 - 1 Asked about having a later checkout and was told we would have to come down in the morning and ask, when we called down the following morning we were told very bluntly "No, not today". Bartender where we ordered food and had to come back down to get didn't have any plates or glasses we could use, we were told that if we folded the boxes down very carefully we could just eat our meals out of the box. When we came down to go across the parking lot to Dave and Busters and realized it was pouring down rain we asked if they had a shuttle and the same unfriendly desk person plainly said "No" but the shuttle driver happened to be standing right there and said he would be more then happy to drive us across the parking lot so we wouldn't get drenched in the rain. Kudos to him he was very nice! At 10a.m housekeeping was in the room above us cleaning but it could of easily been mistaken as serious construction going on up there with the degree of banging and loud noises for nearly an hour. Complimentary breakfast was included, which was a nice bonus, however, while standing directly in front of the counter where the potatoes, eggs, and sausage were layed out, just as we were about to dish up our plates, a staff worker grabs 3 of trays and takes them away without saying anything. I eventually realized they were just taking them back to add more food to the trays but it could of at least been said rather then them just taking the trays and walking away leaving us standing here. The fridge was missing pieces so we couldn't store anything on the door shelves unless it would fall out.

The rooms were very nice and clean, and the layout of them were very appealing. The shuttle driver was the nicest staff person we came across. I wish the rest of the staff would learn more from him, it would make the stay here much more...

Wow... this place has gone downhill tremendously in the past year or so. I've been staying at Dimond Center for nearly 7 years now, and have always raved about the place to my friends. I've always loved the jacuzzi tubs and big, comfy beds.

During this last trip through Anchorage, it was like I was staying at a totally different hotel. I called for an airport pickup and was told by a very annoyed-sounding young lady that the driver couldn't fit me in the shuttle because he'd just picked up 11 people. I was told it would be at least 30 minutes before I could expect the shuttle to return. No big deal, I passed the time by chatting up some other gals who were waiting for their own ride.

The shuttle driver seemed pretty nice, but the shuttle itself was pretty rundown and had numerous giant cracks on the front window.

Arriving at the front desk, the gal running it seemed rather annoyed and not particularly friendly. I don't know if it was because she was manning the desk by herself or what, but I felt like a bit of a nuisance, which isn't what one should feel when they've just dropped $200 on a room for the night.

All this would have been totally acceptable if it weren't for the fact that my room didn't even remotely resemble the ones I had stayed in all these years prior. The once-magnificent bed appeared flat and the sheets had a hair on them. The comforter, which used to be a big fluffy down one, was now the kind of thing you'd find in a motel 6.

I paid extra for a jetted tub, which I couldn't even bring myself to use. It had a thick level of scum around it, and there was a dirty footprint that was easily visible from across the bathroom. The walls of the bathroom had giant smears of what looked like toothpaste or soap or lotion that had dropped down them and dried. Helen Keller could've seen these stains.

The conclusion I've come to is that this place must be under new management, or something else drastic must have occurred since my last visit. Dimond Center Hotel used to have a reputation for luxury, but that is the absolute last word I would use to describe it now. It appears to be seedy and unkept and I've read that a shooting occurred here only 5 months ago, which was drug-related.

From now on, I'll be staying at the Sheraton when I come to Anchorage, where the bathrooms are clean and the sheets...

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for several weeks doing jobs from out of town. During the stay someone took our do not disturb sign and after this on two occasions our food was taken from our refrigerator. One of the times was all our food for lunches . The staff was notified and noting was done about it. Then we were told our card was declined and we had to leave. I went down stairs and personally ran several cards which the really rude lady said all my cards were declined which all cards were active and had plenty of money I transferred to assure they would be fine. So I was told I had to leave. I was treated like I was a homeless person trying to get a free room So as I packed my wife called our bank to find out they ran each card for $2500.00 I've never heard of a room costing that much per night. So we brought this to thier attention that we knew what they had done and tried to keep it quiet for others to not hear. The really rude woman got in an argument with my wife because of her attitude and lack of experience. So they allowed us to stay. I missed hours of work over this. This was not a mistake. Was offered nothing for stolen food and fraud to my bank. Then later charged another card for 2 nights and put my account in the negative which caused me fees. They also tried to charge a 35 dollar fee with no explanation. That fee disappeared from my account still with no explanation. The main reason I stayed there was the convenience of being close to job. About a week after this they told us there was no rooms available. You can hear all the walking and talking from the neighbors. This is the worst experience I've had and I'm not done getting to the bottom of fraudulent charges and I'm sure I'll get some fake apology and how they are so sorry. I will continue to notify all contractors and friends and family to not stay at this hotel. They are racist. They took this way to far. If I have to contact my lawyer over staying in a hotel it has to be bad. There are plenty other hotels in anchorage vs this cheaply constructed hotel. If you stay here watch your bank account they will try to pull...
