What an amazing set of staff at this hotel. The hotel is a little older, sure, but it was incredibly clean. You can smell the cleanliness of the sheets the moment you walk into a room, and not a spot or hair in the bathrooms. The pool is great, location is great, I can't say nice enough things about this place.
I was a little skeptical of some of the reviews speaking of the musty odors, as I have sensitive senses, but it really didn't bother me. There was a slight older hotel room smell, but I mostly smelt the cleaning products (in a good way). The air conditioner didn't have an odor, which I find most hotels do, the hallways didn't have an outstanding smell one way or another, and the lobby just smelt like pool and the buffet area.
The rooms had some minor issues: yes, some stains on the floor, some of the lampshades and curtains were not in great shape, but the rest of the room was so well kept, it really didn't bother me. Most hotels have carpet stains of some type...it's a hotel. Whether you see them or not, you don't want to know what's really there. The curtains, same. I've stayed in Fairmont's with stained/holey curtains. What does it really matter? It was only the blackout curtains that had this issue in our room anyway, and it was a few marks which could have come from a dryer to be honest. Overall, the bed and pillows were not of my personal preference in terms of softness (they were too soft for me), but still super clean and comfortable, and high quality.
The buffet was a relief. The meal is served to you with a few self-service stations, but I was really impressed with the quality for a free buffet. Usually, you don't get the greatest options and the food is less than edible, but this was not the case here. The staff were outstanding.
Staff at the front desk were great. They were super helpful with reassurance of area go-to's for restaurants and the ART bus option for Disney.
I heard from others that the area was not great and a little rough, but I didn't find this at all. I felt safe enough to walk to and from the hotel at night, coming from a restaurant area to the east, but I was with my husband. Don't think I would walk around alone at night, but that could be said about any city. The area was so close to Disney, walking back to the hotel one night, we stopped at the Honda center parking lot to view the fireworks. If you're on the west side of the hotel and a higher floor, you can probably get a great view of the show. In addition, if you have a car, there's everything from an In N Out to Trader Joes about 10 mins away from the hotel to the NE.
The pool had a great little area and hot tub that was welcoming after a long day of walking. It has trees around it to catch some needed shade as well. It's small, but if you go during non-peak hours/days, you can grab it all to yourself and have a great time.
I highly recommend this hotel, will be returning and I didn't want to leave. Anaheim is awesome and this hotel really improved...
ย ย ย Read moreMy roommate and I came to the Ayres hotel this weekend for the SGI-USA's 50K Lions of Justice event at the Honda Center! We were surprised by how close the Hotel was to the Center (right across the street), despite having googled it several days before. The room we stayed in was on the second floor and had 2 queen sized beds. The room was clean, spacious, as well as comfortable. The bathroom was to the right of the door and was also clean and spacious. The bathroom sink was separated from the shower and toilet, and there were plenty of towels provided both in the sink area as well as in the bathroom itself!! They do have signs about reusing the items, and if you have a longer stay than we did, what to do with items you did not wish to reuse but reuse and recycle was encouraged (which I appreciated very much). There was also another sink, a mini fridge, microwave, coffee machine, tea & coffee products as well as an ice bucket. There was also complimentary breakfast provided which featured pancakes, eggs, bacon, country style potatoes, pastries, donuts, cereal options, juice, milk, coffee, hot chocolate, toast and fruit. Now, we were under the impression, from having read quite a few reviews, that there would be some sort of refreshments offered upon check-in and there were not so perhaps that is only for those who get a larger more expensive suite and there were also no bottles of water. I did not take away stars for these missing features as I am not accustomed to them being provided anyways. Also, parking at the hotel is not free and is an additional $10. Another feature that we found very interesting and modern is that upon entering the room there is a key holder on the wall and inside of it is one of the 2 room keys that would normally have been given at check-in. The purpose of this is energy conservation. Once you remove the key from the holder over a certain amount of time, of whoch we did not calculate, the lights in the room cut off and are not able to be turned on again until the room key is placed back in the holder. While the key is in the holder the lights are manual so they can be turned off and on as desired. But if you and your oarty leave and take the key with you the lights cut off even if you did not turn them off as it is presumed that you are no longer inside the room. Their beds are one of the best features as they were very soft, comfy and amazing!! On the corners of the beds were lights that were adjustable and were specifically designed for readers, a feature that I personally found amazing and made me very happy. They were just the right brightness so as not to disturb the others in the room! Overall we were very happy with our stay and would most definitely stay in an ayres hotel again if given the...
ย ย ย Read moreThis hotel is gorgeous on the inside and outside! It is beautifully designed and maintained, and from the outside it looks like a nice luxury apartment or condominium complex. The inside of the building is very clean and well taken care of. Staff members are friendly and helpful as well.
Our room was a suite-style and was huge! It had everything we needed including a microwave, mini fridge, ironing board, hair dryer, couch, TV, coffee table, extra sink outside of the bathroom, desk, toiletries, etc.
The complimentary continental breakfast went above and beyond my expectations. The hot foods are prepared and served by a staff member right in front of you, and the selections can vary from day to day. They served homestyle potatoes and scrambled eggs both mornings I visited for breakfast, and on each day there was a different type of breakfast meat (sausage patties one morning and Kielbasa the next). There is also a variety of cereals, pastries, toast, bagels, donuts, fruit, yogurt, oatmeal, juice, coffee, milk, etc. Breakfast is served from 6am-10am each morning.
There is an extra cost for parking, but I am unsure of how much it costs as I didn't keep a car at the hotel during my stay. I will say that I wish the hotel had an onsite restaurant or bar, as there are not many options for food and drinks within walking distance of the hotel. I read some older reviews stating that the hotel offered a complimentary cocktail hour on weeknights, but I was not told anything about that when I checked into the hotel, so I am assuming they don't offer that anymore.
The location of the hotel is decent, as it is easy to get into and out of, and it is right across the street from the ARTIC train & metro station. It is also right across the street from the Honda Center and about a 14-minute walk to the Angels stadium, which was very convenient. Otherwise, there isn't much within walking distance in terms of food, drinks, or entertainment. If you aren't going to the Honda Center, transportation center, or the Angels ballpark, you will likely need to drive or Uber to wherever you're going.
I would also advise not staying at the end of the hallway on the first floor, as you will hear lots of traffic all night long. We stayed in room 101 and I could hear lots of noise from outside. Otherwise, I was very pleased with my stay and would...
