First off, I made a reservation months ago directly with the hotel. A while later I received a call that I was quoted the wrong price and it was going to be more. Because I had to have room I said okay. I felt this was not getting off to a good start. ||||After a hot two and a half hour drive I arrived at the motel to check in. (Be careful entering and especially exiting). I was told "the boss" cancelled my room. The woman remembered talking to me and didn't know why he cancelled it. She pulled the reservation slip out and read the notes. So now I have my $50 event ticket thinking I will be sleep in my car.||||She says she can put me in the family room but will close off two beds. Then she said the TV doesn't work (it turns out the TV is fine but the Direct TV only wants to show advertising channels like Time Life music). I said fine. The WiFi works, right? She says, no not really, because of homeschooling kids (school is out in California and it was the weekend). Mind you, the two night cost is almost $200 with tax.||||The WiFi did occasionally connect. And then disconnect. My phone was on Edge and not much help (ATT).||||Thankfully I had my e-reader.||||I see the room. Small. A door to another room (the other beds?), small, especially the bathroom, but adequate. There is a coffeemaker (dust covered and an old coffee pod still in it), a small refrigerator and a small microwave. But the bed was comfortable and there is decent wood furnishings.||||This is a non-smoking establishment. All the rooms. With tables, chairs and ash trays right outside the doors. Fortunately, the smoke did not filter into my room. The ashtrays were full. I asked and was told they try to house smokers together. I don't recall being asked. ||||The hot water faucet valve wouldn't stay on. But there was hot water and that was nice.||||It is a pretty quiet location. There is a grocery and pharmacy and food down the street. Be careful walking if you do. I was almost nailed in...
Read moreThis place is old and filthy. So filthy, that there were big bugs crawling on our bed. We left the hotel that same night. There was no place to leave the key (the motel was so old that it still used a physical key) in a early/late drop off box. So we called and left the manager a message about how we were really dissatisfied with the room condition, the bugs, and that we will be leaving immediately. We also told them that we left the key under their door mat. The next day they called to just say sorry and that was it. ||||My boyfriend then called back and said we wanted a refund because we didn't even stay. The manager said that "oh we were waiting for you to call back for a 50% refund" . If they wanted to give us the refund then why didn't they just have the courtesy of just refunding it then? Why did they have to wait for us to call? My boyfriend argued with the manager to get our full refund because he was trying to haggle the amount of refund we would get. ||||We highly recommend that you don't stay here. Even if it's just for the night like we did because we were from out of town attending a wedding. It's dirty, it has bugs, the wifi doesn't work, the bathroom looks like old dormitory bathrooms with the old school little pink and yellow tiles that fits a single skinny person (I wished a had flip flops when I showered because it was disgusting), the ac was in the back of the closet with no door, a small dinky old school tv, and the management is...
Read moreIn August, 2019, I payed $110 + to stay at this motel in Angels Camp, California, which describes itself as "budget-friendly" . It is an older motel and some would say it is "quaint," but I found it to be just run-down and lacking in good basic amenities. The water pressure in the shower was terrible and the towels were old and extremely thin. There was dirt in the corner of the bathroom. When I checked in the woman that helped me wasn't particularly friendly. On the plus side, the air-conditioning was good and the motel is convenient to many stores and restaurants.||||I stayed at this motel last year in August and was charged $79 + which made it marginally reasonable, but how can the owners justify a $30 a night price increase in one year? I definitely won't...
