First time customers. We were very confused when they set down the waiter's notepad to write down your own order. The service was excruciatingly slow, we were there for over an hour and a half, and an hour of that time was spent waiting for service & food.
We ordered miso soups, a basic salmon & avocado roll, a poke bowl, and a teriyaki sushi burrito. Everything was fantastic except for the burrito. My partner & I took 1 bite each and it was just not good at all.
The waiter never came to check how our food was. We had to stop her and ask for utensils to eat our food, and for the bill later on. I mentioned to her that the burrito wasn't good, and she was surprised and told us it's their #1 most popular item, but sometimes it just doesn't come out right. The $18 burrito was still on our bill, which only had 2 bites taken from it. I went to the front to talk to them about it, and the owner blamed us because we ordered raw sushi with our cooked burrito and that we "ruined our taste" and it was OUR fault for not liking it.
I asked for the burrito to be taken off of our bill, and made it clear that everything else was very delicious, especially the miso soup. He said "all sales are final" but we never paid for anything yet? I've never heard of a restaurant doing that. Sometimes food just doesn't work out for people, but they shouldn't be stuck with the burden of paying for it. He finally offered 50% off of the burrito so we just took that and left since I wasn't trying to argue with him, I just didn't want to pay for something that was expensive and uneaten. I wanted to love the place, even with the slow service, but left with much disappointment. I hope this changes.
Edit after owner's response: We were not expecting VIP status. Everyone had a long wait, not just us, but I cannot speak on their behalf, only ours.
We were also charged for the miso soups, they were not complimentary as it was on the menu with a price next to it.
As for all restaurants having "all sales are final" policies, that is just not true. If food doesn't come out the way it should, most restaurants will remove it from your bill, or offer another dish. Even places like Starbucks will remake your drink if you aren't satisfied. Please reconsider posting your response next time you are responding to a negative review, and consider taking constructive feedback instead of calling customers "picky"...
Read moreUsually the saying goes âif it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then itâs probably a duck.â Shiro Ninja Boba - Poke - Ramen Bar (lol. What a name. It has to be written out in its entirety.) has all the traits that would normally be an at best, Americanized, Asian-esque fast food restaurant: the name itself, the usage of the stereotypical âChinese bambooâ font, mismatched decor of all sorts of Asian (and non-Asian) things sprinkled without rhyme or reason inside. And yet, curiosity got the better of me, and so I went in with friends for dinner on the way back from the Sierra Nevadas.
It'sâŚ.surprisingly, a good, solid ramen stop. The broth is flavorful. The noodles are the right amount of firmness. There js a good mixture of toppings. If this shop was opened in the Bay, it would be above average. since we're two hours out from San Jose in a town with a few thousand people max, it's worth the five star rating. It's worth making a stop here for food, and not just for its name.
The milk tea didn't quite hit the same way, unfortunately, but it's still pretty good. My friendâs teriyaki chicken and rice wasâŚwell, very standard teriyaki chicken so that was that. Stick to the ramen. Itâs what the Shiro Ninja would...
Read moreI am so happy that this place opened! Hear it opened last month and it it family owned. My college years thrived off Boba so I tend to be picky, and I was pleased with the quality of the boba and milk tea! The honey Boba is so soft! Plus the quantity was so much! Definitely a bang for your buck! I got the Thai tea with honey Boba, my mom got the Taro milk tea with Mango popping Boba, and my friend got Strawberry tea with honey Boba. We also got the Avocado wrap and it was very fresh and they gave us free miso soup with our order! The miso soup was great! The silk tofu was soft and the nori tasted so fresh. I've had bad experiences with fishy miso at other places but THIS miso was so fresh and had an amazing flavor! I didn't try the Ramen, sushi or Poke but I would definitely come again to try their other menu items! I really hope this place takes flight! My only advice: there are 3 menus so it does feel a little overwhelming to look through them all but I hope that once it's clear what items are best sellers that Shiro Ninja will consolidate their menu, I've seen a lot of great mom and pop shops go under due to...
