My experience stems from a business-trip in which the Sheraton Hotel was the designated lodging venue. However, regardless of choice, the Sheraton Pentagon City hotel provided great accommodations and amenities arguable to both those traveling to the Arlington/D.C. area for work or leisure.||Traffic patterns and the highway infrastructure is a bit hectic (in the most generous terms), but getting to the Sheraton Pentagon City was fairly straight forward. Whether you're coming from I-395 (North or South directions) and onto Washington Boulevard, there is a quick off-ramp from Washington that is easy to miss if you're not paying attention. After that, the off-ramp literally leads you straight to the hotel.||The Sheraton Pentagon City hotel a parking garage that goes underground; make sure you check-in first so that you can use your hotel room card to access the parking garage. There is a convenient pull-through/valet lane (wide enough to fit 2 cars) that offers direct access to the reception in the main lobby. The design of this lane was thoughtful in that it provides overhead cover from any inclimate weather such as rain or snow once you step out of the vehicle. ||As you enter the main lobby, there is a sense of grandeur and class as these areas are decorated and maintained with fairly well. The reception clerks were more than friendly and helpful throughout the check-in process. For my particular trip, parking and breakfast were included in the fee (not sure if this is standard with the average accomodation reservation) to which the receptionist gratefully explained and provided vouchers for, respectively.||The parking garage is very intuitive and was seemingly secure - in terms of accessibility and location. From the parking garage, there is a singular elevator that provides return access to the hotel lobby, while a set of stairs are on either ends of the parking structure to offer access points to the hotel. Despite the elevator breaking down on the last day that I was there, the parking garage was very convenient and spacious. ||The room accommodations themselves are a bit dated, admittedly, however served their purpose. My room had a king bed. Additional room amenities included a mini-refrigerator and a round table-desk with 4-outlets built onto the surface of the table that was very convenient. Some reviewers mentioned the view once you get into the higher-floors; my room happened to be on the 11th floor facing to the southwest which gave a decent vantage of Colombia Pike as it entered through the residential portions of Arlington.||The breakfast was significantly better than the usual continental breakfasts. There quite a pleasant and delightful spread that were served on heated trays and pots. The service that complimented the breakfast meal was a nicely added touch even though the food was self-serve. ||I have to emphasize the one major perk of staying at the Sheraton Pentagon City Hotel which is the access to Fort Myer. From South Orme Street, you can easily leave Sheraton Pentagon City Hotel and get onto post through the Southgate Road (which brings you in through the Henderson Hall-Marine Corps side of post). Although not 24 hours, the gate opens and closes on all 7 days of the week (with exceptions of course). This makes the Sheraton an ideal lodging accommodation for those that have business on post.||Overall, great stay and experience at...
Read moreI must say, this was by far the worst experience I have ever had a Sheraton, and probably the worst stay I have ever had at a Mariott property. The first issue was that I always book through the Bonvoy app and instead of calling prefer to use the chat to communicate with the staff of the property. However, upon asking about a shuttle from the airport in the chat, I never received any information or a reply. So, then I resorted to calling the front desk about the complimentary shuttle. The first lady who answered seemed to rush me as she was explaining the times the shuttle runs to DCA. She then explained that it runs every 30 minutes and that it should be there shortly. I continue to wait at the airport for another 45 minutes and the shuttle still is not there. I call back and another very friendly front desk worker answers and explains that at the time I arrived, the shuttle actually makes a run at the top of every hour and not every 30 minutes. She then tells me that the shuttle will be leaving shortly and that she apologized for the inconvenience. After waiting another 15 minutes and seeing the large group of customers that are waiting for the shuttle, I then decided to just purchase an Uber to ensure that I make it, assuming that some of the other large numbers of passengers are waiting on the same shuttle and it may be full. Once I arrived, I was able to speak to the very friendly staff member at the front desk and she apologized once again for the long wait time and was able to check me in to my room. Unfortunately, it appears she is the only staff member at this hotel that actually believes in customer service. The rest of my stay I have had very inattentive service by the staff. I went to have food and drink at the bar, and the bartender had a very off-putting attitude, as if my presence was an issue. Despite me sitting at the bar and ordering a drink and food, he still prepared my food to go. Once I stated that I planned to sit, he did not even ask if I wanted the food on real plates and let me sit with to go plates and eat. I then saw him, and another staff member purposely go out of their way to not give another passenger her food, despite her waiting for it for quite some time. It's one thing to be inattentive, it's another to purposely attempt to make someone's experience worse than it already has been. There are a lot of other things that I just refuse to go into detail about; however, this includes an inoperable pool, a lot of broken equipment and ill maintained fitness center, a closed Sheraton Club for elite members despite nothing stating on the door that it is closed, even more terrible customer service, and rooms without normal quality amenities. I know that I am not the only one experiencing bad issues throughout my stay because when I went to downstairs to ask for a 4pm checkout, because apparently no one monitors the Bonvoy app chat, another customer explained how his fridge was inoperable in his room and all of his food went bad. He claimed that someone said that they would replace it and never did. Overall, this was the worst stay I have ever had in a Marriott property. I am a very loyal Marriott Bonvoy member, and it is usually always my first choice of a hotel both in the USA and abroad. The service makes all the difference, even if the amenities are not operable. However, it is severely lacking in this...
Read moreWe booked this hotel because it was less expensive, but still a trusted Marriott brand, and was still close enough to the city. Unfortunately, I do not think it is worth the price we paid and will not stay here again. The whole facility is dated, and as others have mentioned, some areas have bad smells. The second floor of the garage has a perpetual water pool, and it smells like trash. Elevators and doors in the garage area need cleaning and paint. They’re pretty sad looking. Same for some other common areas around the hotel. Some parts of the room seem renovated-ish, but the bathroom is not and the bathroom counters are extremely low (I’m 5’6 and find them uncomfortably low). The bed was generally comfortable and we didn’t have any major issues like bugs or dirty linens, as others have reported.
My BIGGEST complaint is the service, or lack thereof. We have stayed here 5 nights. The feather pillows in the room are too soft for a side sleeper like myself, so I requested foam pillows yesterday evening. I was told there was no housekeeping available, so I would have to wait. (I have worked in a hotel, and this is silly. They should be able to get pillows for a guest.) I waited and requested again this morning before leaving for the day. Housekeeping never came. To give benefit of the doubt, I assume they came early in the morning when we had a DND on the door, and maybe did not come back by until much much later, when we put the DND on the door while we were getting ready for dinner. When we returned from dinner, I called to ask the front desk to send pillows and fresh towels, since we did not get housekeeping. They said they would send them, but never did. I used the Bonvoy app to also request these, and I got automated responses but still have no pillows or towels. We are checking out tomorrow, so we will not receive housekeeping and are out of towels. It’s so stupid that I have to walk to the front desk to get anywhere with them.
Our first night here, we noticed one of the power outlets was loose and hanging out of the wall (see pictures). The girl at the desk (Gabby) seemed to not want to be bothered to do her job. When we approached the desk, her colleague was busy with another guest, and she was busy texting on her phone. I had to say “excuse me” to get her attention. At which point, I tried to explain and show her pictures of the issues with the room, but she continued her text message and hardly wanted to give me her attention. SO unprofessional. Anyway, we asked for engineering to fix the issues and let her know we were heading to dinner, but no one came while we were out. We checked back with the front desk the next evening (because no one came during the day to fix it) and they didn’t seem to know much about the request. Fortunately the engineering guy happened to be walking through the lobby, so they called him over. He came maybe 20-30 mins later and eventually took care of the issues we had.
So far my experience here has been disappointing…Not what I expect from a Marriott. I feel like I’m staying at a low-end hotel. Even if the facility is a little older and needs updates, I expect higher levels of customer service. This particular location should not be allowed to display the Sheraton, Marriott or Bonvoy brands. It is making such a bad impression on the...
