Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Doswell (Kings Dominion), VA — Hotel in Ashland

I actually wrote a review and they deleted it! This hotel is very deceiving and misleading! First of all, we arrived early and I wasn’t able to check in which was fine. A young lady was working the desk, I asked since I couldn’t check in early, could she please make sure that my rooms were side by side because I had kids with me( a church youth group). She states she couldn’t promise because the rooms were first come first serve at 4pm. I then asked if she could at least put us away from the train tracks in the back so the kids wouldn’t be disturbed. That wasn’t possible either. Well, we walked to Kings dominion and was back at approximately 3:45om. The parking lot was empty and I was sure we got there in time to honor my request because no one was there. This lady was more concerned about getting my card in case we smoked in the room and:or damaged the rooms. I said ma’am we don’t smoke and my kids definitely are loud or wild(and they wasn’t). Well, she put our rooms on the same floor but 10 doors down from each other and on the side of the tracks and would not budge! The sad thing about it is there wasn’t anyone in the rooms across from us. This young lady did this to us on purpose and that was evident and then she watch us bring our bags in and stared so hard I ask were we ok in bringing our bags in and she snapped out of her stare. Well, we entered the rooms and when I tell you these rooms were VERY NASTY and I mean filthy! The floors wasn’t vacuumed as trash from the previous occupants were still on the floor, the towels were neatly folded but still had dirty on them from being used and WAS STILL WET FROM BEING USED BEFORE! The room smelled moldy, wet and nasty! You had to turn the AC down low to make it cool in there so it would help with the smell. Now when I asked the young lady for more towels I was told there wasn’t anymore! The bathrooms were filthy, the tubs were not cleaned, the commode was absolutely filthy and uncleaned. DO NOT STAY HERE! Sleep in your car if this hotel is your only choice! I always bring supplies to clean the rooms but when I tell you I had to clean these rooms, it just didn’t make any sense. The young lady at the desk needs to be fired PERIOD! It’s too many complaints about this hotel and nothing’s being done! The health department definitely is going to get my pictures and complaints about this hotel. I frequent the Country Inn and Suites, I have never stayed in a nasty dirty and filthy room and have never encountered someone so arrogant unwilling to help and accommodate as the young lady at the desk. June 30, 2025 To Whomever It May Concern I am writing in regards to the hotel stay on Friday, June 27 at the Country Inn and Suites located at 16250 International St, Doswell, VA 23047. I paid at total of $171.64 per room for a one night stay (for TWO rooms) and this was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. To say I spent almost $200 per room to stay in this place is extremely sad. The hotel needs serious attention. The cleaning staff should have some quality checks to ensure they are properly cleaning rooms. The cleaning staff should also have a checklist to document missing or broken items so they can be replaced or repaired.

1. The room itself obviously did not have any extra attention put toward ensuring it was cleaned, especially the bathroom. It appeared to be wiped over at most.
2. The door to the bathroom did not close completely, nor would it open completely. The bottom of the door appeared to be dragging against the floor so you could not open/close properly.
3. There was no hair dryer in the room. I assumed there would be one in the room, so, I did not check for one until after I showered and washed my hair. When I reached for the phone to call the front desk to request one, the phone did not work properly. I then physically walked to the front desk with wet hair to request one and was informed someone would bring one up to me in about 5 minutes. I understand that guests may take items such as hair dryers from the room; however, this should be on the list of items that housekeeping checks and ensures is in each room when cleaning. a. The gentleman I spoke with (who I believe may have been a manager) was not the most customer friendly individual. Yes, he told me he would have someone bring me another hair dryer; however, there was no apologies for not having one in the room. I would think being a manager, one would at least extend an apology.
4. The coffee pot in the room was absolutely disgusting. There was coffee burnt all on the bottom of the machine.
5. The drawers in the room were ALL falling apart.
6. The woman who checked us in and the woman who maintained the breakfast area was both very pleasant and accommodating.

I mostly stay at Marriott’s; however, because of the location and proximity of the concert venue, I chose to reserve two rooms with Country Inn and Suites. Based on this experience, I am not sure I will do so again when visiting the area. Paula Ann...

Would not recommend to anyone. For the price you pay it is not worth it. Online it says they have a hot tub but when I went to look at the pool and hot tub the hot tub was not there. It is concreted in. They said they took it out due to covid. We weren't notified there was no hot tub. When you walk in the property reeked of mold and when you look up in the lobby you can see water damage. When I got to the room it also reeked of mold and even in the hallway. The beds were uncomfortable as well making it an unpleasant stay. Outside the building ypu can clearly see water damage which is not good. This property should be condemned and rebuilt somewhere not next to train tracks. It is right across the street to Kings dominion but for your safety and until they do major updates do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. The TV and phone to call the front desk didn't work. When I called the front desk kept getting busy signal from the room phone. Then I tried with my cell phone to call the front desk and it kept ringing then hung up. When I went to the front desk there was no one there and waited for 20 minutes for someone to come back to the desk. She had an attitude like she didnt want to be there. Don't even get me started about the outside of the building. As you can see in the pictures, the screens on the windows need repair as well due to being torn and not on there correctly. When I opened the door to go to the pool, it smelled so strong like chemical that it made my nose burn and couldn't breathe. It literally took my breath away. The water was really cloudy like they dont maintain it properly. For my safety and health i didn't swim. From our room there are old windows that have the screen broken and you can see mold. Do yourself a favor and do not stay here or you'll be very disappointed. The elevator stopped mid floor and it was not inspected because there should have been a sign.
