Worst hotel experience I've ever had in my life at La Quinta by Wyndham (Richmond-King's Dominion).
We arrived Sunday and went to King's Dominion for the day. It stormed, so we left the park and checked in at this hotel around 8:00 pm. We get to our room and it already didn't seem like the nicest place (from the hallways/the smell), but we were tired and soaked from the storm and just wanted to shower and rest.
Once we got in the room I went to the AC (to turn it on and try to get the musty smell out of the room) and that's when I noticed the bugs all over the window ledge... dead bugs everywhere.
After that I checked the rest of the room, because obviously it wasn't cleaned well... I then noticed a smear of God only knows what on the headboard of the bed and red stuff smeared on the bathroom walls. I was upset but, decided I will just call the front desk and ask for cleaning products (At least if I clean it, I know it's clean & I'm not letting my daughter sleep somwhere like that.) I went to the front desk and the girl gave me lysol wipes. I did tell her I think it's a little ridiculous that I'm paying for a room that I have to clean. She said she was sorry and could move us into a new room. I was fine with that, hoping for better accommodations, we went to the next room which hadn't been cleaned AT ALL... dirty bedding, trash, etc... So i snapped another pic and went back to the front desk to show her, explaining that room hadn't been touched at all.
The response I got at that point shocked me... she said she checked us out and I would get my money back. I said ok... but... what do you expect us to do we still need a place to stay? She says I don't want to keep bouncing you from room to room (insinuating that is is my issue that their rooms are filthy 🤔)... I asked if there was a manager. She says "he's not here til 11 am". I asked if he can be called because this is just ridiculous... and some other girl (not in a uniform) that was unloading suitcases with who i assume to be her boyfriend starts telling me when the manager comes and that there is really nothing more they can do. I don't know if that girl worked there/lived there or what...🙄 So again i ask what we are supposed to do since she just took the liberty of checking us out rather than cleaning a room... the girl at the desk calls over to the Country Inn and Suites to check their rates and availability. Then tells me to stay there because it's "nicer and cleaner" 😂 wow... So, we trudged across in the rain to the Country Inn (It was MUCH nicer and cleaner...and the staff was friendly and professional).
I decided to call Wyndham due to my disgust. I called them because I couldn't believe that they weren't going to follow up with the property manager themselves. I was basically told this wasn't their problem because it's a franchise. Clearly I understand what a franchise is, but thanks, Kim (at wyndham customer service)for explaining it to me like I have no idea how that works!
I would just assume that since it is La Quinta "By Wyndham" & has the Wyndham name attached they might care about quality, cleanliness and customer service but I guess my assumption was wrong. Beware of this chain of hotels (especially this location) and don't expect any resolution from customer service. #hotelnightmare #tonightlaquinta 🤔🤢 #terriblecustomerservice...
Read moreREAD SO YOU DON’T BOOK!!!: Despite the abundance of negative reviews, we went against our better judgement and booked this hotel for a last minute stay . We were coming back from va beach and needed a place to refresh, relax and prepare for kings dominion the next day. This hotel showed AVAILABILITY on all sites (Expedia, booking, hopper ) with all the same room choices: I like to get the best rate so I check different sites and have had NO ISSUES WITH ANY OF THE MENTIONED SITES . So when I booked the deluxe family suite , which best accommodated our family size (other hotels required a two room reservation which ultimately led us to this establishment ) I had no concerns about the reservation part. We arrived to laQuinta by 8:45pm and my husband went and checked in and came out with a luggage cart. No issues were relayed . My family , very tired and eager to get to the room, walked past a gentleman that I noticed kept eyeing us but I still smiled even when I felt weirded out. He didn’t smile back , he didn’t nod his head, he stated”you have too many people to stay here” . Me completely puzzled, and very upset he said this in-front of my children, I responded excuse me . He said we had a room with two queen beds that is only for two people. I said that we reserved the deluxe family suite and before I could get out the rest of my statement he interrupted and said nope you do not you can’t fit all these people in that room. I told him I have the conformation email if he’d like to step to the desk to review it to which he shook his head and said I know what room you have booked . I finally got him to the counter just for him to look at my screen and say they are completely booked and the only room they have is one he mentioned and that I had to call the third party I booked through .Then left. The parking lot was empty, and two guys walked in and asked to book a room for the night and were told yes by the lady that appeared after the aforementioned man walked away. I sat in the lobby for 25 minutes trying to sort this out with no answers from the lady at the desk. She sat at the desk and never muttered a word to us until I asked if she could please answer the phone ( the third party site called three times to try to discuss what happened ) or call the manager back to assist us. She said she was the acting manager and she would see what she could do , as she continued to ignore the phone. The representative with the third party site was appalled himself when I relayed I was in the lobby watching them ignore the phone calls. We were able to cancel the booking, Get a full refund , and fortunately grabbed a room elsewhere but the poor customer service , complete lack of professionalism, and zero attempt to work out the situation truly left me baffled. Besides being so close to an attraction like kings dominion, this place is by far the worst run hotel I’ve ever encountered. The only nice thing I can say is that the female “acting manager “ was considerate enough to bring my husbands phone that was left on the counter , to us as we were reloading our vehicle . Please read the reviews of this hotel and take them with sincere consideration.Go...
Read moreMy elderly father in law really wanted the family to have a trip to the state fair together. We live an hour away but he insisted on buying us a hotel room next to his so we could spend the weekend near him. Clearly he did not look at other reviews before booking this place. When my family of 4 arrived he was already checked in and immobile grandma was already in her room. He took us to the desk and tried to check us into the second room he had booked. There was a language barrier and so much confusion, the male staff could not find his second reservation. 😳 Apparently they had told grandpa over the phone that they had "adjoining " rooms and that he was booking rooms next to each other. That's not even possible. After almost half an hour they found us a room on the same floor and we said we'd take it, by now grandpa was very upset. The only reason he picked that hotel was because the said the had "adjoining rooms." 🤦♀️ So we visit grandma's room first to say hi, she had a nice room. Didn't smell, seemed clean. Then we opened our room. The stench hit me the moment I opened the door. It smelled like urine, someone had peed all over the carpets. I owned 2 tom cats and a dog, I've had my share of urinated carpets, but this was human pee. It was overwhelming. The walls had brown smears up them near the microwave and with the smell i was wondering if it was fecal smears. The ac was rattling so loud, there was a piece of wood tacked onto the head board like it was hiding a hole, all the walls were patched, the bathroom door lock wouldn't work and the wall was broken where a hair dryer might have been once. I immediately checked for bed bugs but didn't find any. Grandpa looked very embarrassed but after struggling for half an hour to get the room I didn't want to cause a scene, so we slept their that night. The carpet was so dirty it made the bottom of my feet sticky and i had to wash the fuzz off my feet and then wear shoes. I was completely grossed out. Between the smell and the rattling ac I couldn't sleep. The rest of the hotel was pretty rough too. The hall smelled like cigarettes, the elevator had graffiti scratched across all the metal walls and doors. They had febeze plugins everywhere trying to combat the smells. The breakfast was disappointing. I tried to make waffles 3 times but the machine wouldn't cook them all the way, they were hollow and gooy in the middle. The coffee was watery. When we came back from the fair i told my husband i wasn't staying in that room another night. A sweet young female staff member was able to help us switch rooms, and the second room was much nicer. No smell, no rattling ac, no sticky carpets. We moved all our stuff over but we should have moved the towels and toiletries too, because she said she would be right up with some and never brought them. So we just had no towels or soap. I'm never staying there again, or trusting my father in law to pick a hotel. There was a giant pallet in the lobby that looked like building materials so i imagine they are working on it, and the other rooms weren't as gross as 326, but don't stay here. The only advantage was location near the...
