I heard about this new restaurant from several Kings Dominion insiders and locals that have recently visited the park since this Places located in a newly refurbished hotel conveniently located outside the park gates all saying that I really need to go here so I decided to go in May and I was absolutely blown away. From the host, opening the door for me and giving me a grand welcome and then seating me right away, To the absolutely amazing staff that go above and beyond with every single thing, to the amazing amazing atmosphere with all the decorations and loud Mexican music blaring over the speakers, and to some of the best Mexican food I have ever had in my entire life. The owner always comes to peoples tables to sit with them to chat and he even takes pictures of customers enjoying their amazing food and he posts them to the restaurantās Facebook page and he cares so much about his customers. I decided to just order a sweet tea since Iām not much of a Alcoholic drinker but my server decided to put my sweet tea in a giant margarita mug and garnish it with lemons and cherries, to make it look like a cocktail instead of just serving it to me in a cup with ice since he really tried to encourage me to order some sort of cocktails and yes, he still gave me free refills. He also recommended several dishes and told me to try their Signature dish, however It was too expensive and I also ordered an appetizer so I decided to get the super burrito El Toro, which was A massive burrito smothered in white cheese sauce filled with beef tongue, chicken steak, shrimp and all kinds of stuff topped with sour cream, pico de gallo, and guacamole And the price was extremely reasonable. $19 for a 2 1/2 pound burrito full of 4 kinds of meats, and toppings. The free chips and salsa was really good and then for an appetizer I ordered their table side guacamole and added pineapple to it. The owner came to my table with the cart and made the guacamole perfectly. Extremely good and extremely affordable. Most food portions here are massive and filling as well as Being extremely flavorful and delicious. The owner and entire staff actually care about your enjoyment here rather than just doing their job to make money and they always go above and beyond my 2 visits here.
If you ever visit Kings Dominion and you have the time for a nice sit down meal, then please eat at this amazing Mexican restaurant right outside the park gates because you will be absolutely blown away...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe were there last night with a party of 6 after a very full day at King's Dominion. After being shell-shocked by the price of a single slice of mediocre (at best) pizza at KD, finding this place was a godsend. Every single thing about our experience was great.
The hostess and wait staff were friendly, accommodating and attentive. The drinks were generous in proportions, artful in their preparation, and very reasonably priced for what you were getting. There was a refreshingly wide selection of vegetarian options on the menu as well as a sizable variety of non-vegetarian dishes that you might expect from a really good Mexican restaurant.
Our food arrived quickly and everything was hot, fresh and delicious. The presentation would have warranted a pic or two, but we were hungry and the food smelled and tasted wonderful.
Another review that I saw characterized the music as loud and festive, but that was not our experience. There was background music with a distinctly Latin flavor, but it was very tasteful and muted so as to be conducive to dinner conversation. The overall atmosphere was very comfortable for a family dinner - clean and pleasant, but not fancy or garish. And the prices were quite reasonable, too.
If we lived in the area, this place would certainly be one of our regular haunts. If people figure out that you can walk there in about 5 min. from the KD front gate I'm sure the place will be mobbed. Should you find yourself in the neighborhood and you like Mexican food, be sure to pay these folks a visit. I hope a lot of people do find them and wish them...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreEmployees had good energy and great vibes. Felt very welcomed when I came in (even though they were closing in 45 minutes). Server brought me chips and salsa. Then, I placed my order to go ( I didn't want to be that a$$h0|e that sits there past closing time).
The super burrito and fried ice cream were pretty damn good. My issues with food were the crab dip and the chips. Forgive me for thinking crab dip meant CRAB dip and not Krab dip. The chips?? They tasted like old kitchen air and were SO stale. I mean, TERRIBLY stale. The ones they brought to the table as well as the 3 bags they gave me with the multiple dips I ordered. None of them were warm and all bags were stale chips. That hurt.
Chips and salsa are the staple for most Mexican restaurants. So to have a total of 3 bags PLUS a basket not have 1 warm or fresh chip is insane to me.
Not a local, was on a 3 hour drive and decided to stop here. Would give 3.5 š. As stated, the other items were š and staff was great. But they have to do something about those chips (in...
