🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 A Joyful Stay at avid Hotel Tech Ridge – Hospitality Done Right
I have traveled overseas and stayed at luxury hotels, but sometimes you just need a place to lay your head. I traveled to Austin this weekend to see my daughter who had been in a car accident and I turned to AVID for my stay. This was my second stay at an AVID hotel, and once again, I am beyond pleased. The Tech Ridge location in Austin, Texas offered everything I needed and more: a clean, peaceful environment, cheerful decor, and a staff that made me feel genuinely welcome from the moment I walked in.
The hotel itself is spotless. The color palette and design are bright, modern, and uplifting—it feels like walking into a place that wants you to feel good. And that’s exactly how I felt from Friday to Sunday.
What truly made this stay memorable, however, was Tish, the front desk clerk who greeted me with a warm smile and gracious energy each morning. During breakfast hours, the lobby filled with guests grabbing their morning bites, and Tish made it a point to walk around, engage with everyone, and spark conversation. She didn’t just do her job—she brought the space to life. The atmosphere became less like a hotel lobby and more like a community breakfast table. We laughed, chatted, and started each day with joy, thanks to her presence.
Speaking of breakfast—though I was initially unsure about the grab-and-go style, it completely won me over. The vegetarian omelette was flavorful, the bagels fresh, the coffee hot and ready, and the selection perfect for travelers like me who are mindful of health and weight. Everything was clean, well-stocked, and thoughtfully presented.
The exercise room was another highlight: quiet, clean, and just what I needed for a morning recharge. It’s rare to find a hotel gym that doesn’t feel like an afterthought, but this one was clearly maintained with care.
Every part of my stay was infused with comfort and kindness. Whether I was relaxing in my room or grabbing breakfast with other guests, I felt surrounded by a quiet kind of hospitality that’s increasingly rare these days.
To Tish and the rest of the amazing staff at AVID Hotel Tech Ridge—thank you. Your professionalism, friendliness, and warmth turned a standard hotel stay into a truly joyful experience. I will absolutely be seeking out avid hotels as I travel throughout Texas, because if this is the standard, I know I’m in good hands.

Parking was ample, and the property was clean and had nice curb appeal. Upon walking through the sliding doors of the lobby, I was met with a pleasant breeze which indicated the air conditioning was working perfectly. We were greeted with an enthusiastic smile from the front receptionist. He quickly located our keys from an organized pile of cards. He gave us clear instruction on breakfast/checkout times and location of elevators. Our room was even better than what I was expecting. I loved the smell and the cleanly feeling right off the bat. The layout had a good flow and I appreciated the shelf spaces and unique design. The bed was absolutely the best thing about the whole room. I haven’t had rest like that in what feels like ages. The room had a cool modern feel to it! The bathroom was nice it did have a hairdryer. The only downside in my opinion was the positioning of the bathroom and shower door. It was awkward, but it didn’t take away from the experience at all. Breakfast was pretty good. I appreciated and understood the concept of what the breakfast was all about. Don’t here if a lavish hotel breakfast is a must for you. The variety was ok-good , and what they did have was warmed well, kept cold, and well stocked. I didn’t interact went the front desk much, but if a staff member saw me, they would smile. Hallways were quiet for the most part, the view outside the hotel was peaceful. I felt that my car was safe over night and I liked that you had to get a keycard to get in the back of the hotel, otherwise you’d have to walk past someone. Over all this is one of the “cream of the crop of budget hotels for me.” I was relieved to find out there was ice and buckets for free, mini fridge in the room as well as an iron/board, mounted toiletries the bathroom. All the essentials you need. I look forward to...
Read moreThievery at this hotel ‼️ Last week we stayed here for two nights and checked out on Friday at 1pm (late checkout authorized by my brother being a rewards member). Around 2pm, I recall that I forgot my Nintendo switch on the bed of our hotel room. Around 2:15, my brother called the hotel and was told that no game console was turned in by the cleaning staff. At 2:30pm, we arrived to the hotel so we could look ourselves. We were brought to the room and found no Ninendo Switch, however, the room was cleaned and the beds were made. We then asked the cleaning staff (that were still cleaning on the floor of our stay!!) if they came across the switch, however, they said no. Mind you, not even a full 2 hours had passed since we left the hotel and I left the switch right! on! the! bed!! Bright blue and red controllers. They didn't let us look in their cleaning carts.
The hotel supervisor checked in the laundry room for us but didn't recover anything. However, they didn't spend much time looking in the big carts full of bed sheets (of course it's a lot of laundry! I acknowledge that, which is why we gave our number so that if the Switch was recovered sometime throughout the week, they could give us a call). Surprise surprise, no call because it was already stolen.
When we asked the cleaning staff, they were NOT giving us straight answers, even when the lady at the hotel desk was asking on our behalf. In such a SHORT time span, there is absolutely NO way the Nintendo switch left the hotel room in the hands of anyone else besides the hotel staff.
I appreciate the help of an IHG team member that wrote a report for me, and I appreciate the help of the desk lady and hotel supervisor. However, you can't exactly get the lying staff member that stole my switch to fess up (they'll simply say that they didn't do it).
Anyways, at least a kid got a new switch because their parent stole it. Do NOT bring valuables...
