This is purely from a take-out perspective. We were so excited to see that the renos at Tech ridge included a drive thru bbq place. I have to clarify that the HEB team members have always been polite and helpful when interacting with you one on one, but there is definite room for operational improvement.
Food wise we have picked up from here a good amount of times, our household is a fan of the stuffed potato with pulled pork, collard greens, heart of Texas sandwich, and fried okra. The meats by themselves to me are fine, a bit on the drier side to me - even for that to be the nature of a couple of the cuts (turkey, and lean brisket). But for this being the closest and most convenient place for us to get bbq and sides for a reasonable price, I don’t mind adding it to our take out rotation.
Operationally I feel like there are some improvements to be made. Quality checks for packing up food to go needs to get better. I have had to ask for a missing item every time we have placed an order here, or the quantity has been incorrect. And for a bbq place why are you not automatically including sauces (at least one per main order) in the bag, ESPECIALLY if the sauces are added to the cart? Also can I recommend if you are going to offer drive thru pick up, that you direct those who are just picking up to the right and someone bring it or the car (at least if there is a line of people waiting for their drive thru order that they made onsite)? I get it, I could just walk in, and we still do the majority of the time! But if you offer drive thru pick up as a service, then I think it’s only fair that you take that into consideration . I know the drive thru just recently opened up but just wanted to share a thought as you guys get your...
Read moretoday is june 4, 2025 i came in today as normal for grandmaother to get her weekly bbq sandwich .i ordered a slice brisket sandwich, i received a chop brisket sandwich .i made the employee aware of the mistake, and asked is there a difference in price ,illl pay the rest i owe if it more .he told me no you ok and went to fix problem, only for the manager Rosa come the window demanding,we pay difference, witch i was fine with but she wantted to refund the first sandwich and recharge me for the new oder ,i really believe this was very wrong and she had no compassion or understanding when her employee took the order wrong . picking up on her energy i got the impression if i did not let her recharge my card she wld have happily sent me away without my grandmas order, i completely shocked to be treated like this from an heb establishment who my entire family holds in hi regruards and been a customer for years.. as a manger my self .i think having compassion and a having knowledge on how to keep the customer coming back is important... being that im black women i let her recharge me for the order because of principal,i felt she was ready to do the sandwich stand off as if i was looking for an handout.not case i just feel the 2.80 cent was not worth losing a customer.and sending my 80 year old grandma into an anger..i really hate to be the one who has to call in on this matter and write an review ,but this is unacceptable,i really hope this is a teachable moment for Rosa to handle...
Read moreI will start off by saying the ribs are great! However, double check your order. Lived in New Braunfels for years and had True Texas all the time. Was excited that it was finally in Austin. However, this location failed greatly. Placed an online order, was the only customer here upon pick up. Gallon of tea is missing, I show the receipt and for whatever reason they couldn’t remember NOT handing over a gallon of tea, yet I'm standing in front of you without it. Ordered lean brisket, yet received fatty cut. One slice of bread given for a 3 meat plate. The kicker is the associates arguing with me this is lean… So I spent $33 on a 3 meat plate & gallon of sweet tea. Not given my sweet tea & not the meat cut I requested... Then for them to argue with me this is lean when clearly it’s not is a joke. Please don’t have people cutting or working a bar b q place that don’t know the difference. I understand mistakes can happen, but to not correct the issue and give me what I paid for is very upsetting. They would not correct the order. Yes even with the young manager getting involved. True Texas has great food, just avoid this location. You will not get a good representation of what...
