Northwoods Inn & Cottages — Hotel in Barnum

We stayed here due to a reunion in Moose Lake, and it was close by, no availability anywhere else...I’m not sure where the other reviewers stayed, but our #17 room was not updated, had an old musty smell, no view, old carpeting, only one coffee packet, office gal didn’t know how to check us in, and I would never recommend it. We checked into the office which was small, dirty, stuffed with office supplies everywhere, laundry right off the office was small and overflowing with laundry. We paid $129 a night, again, the parking lot had old vehicles, and equipment, but again, we didn’t have a choice....I don’t think it is worth even $59 a night, really felt they take advantage of travelers. The only reason we did stay after opening the door was the fact that the bathroom and bed looked clean at least. I will never ever...

I stayed in many hotels and this for $120 a night for room was definitely not worth it this is more like a $40 a night hotelI room! The parking lot was glare ice they didn't even try salting it I can't even mention the amount of times I almost fell over trying to walk from my vehicle to my room this place is definitely not trailer friendly. The rooms are very dark with not much lighting and they have a stench to them. At least the 2 rooms I had. There was no sidewalk to walk to the lower rooms so we had to walk through the snow or the icy driveway down the Hill. The walls were as if they were paper thin. I could hear my neighbors TV on all night. And dogs barking all night. I definitely will not ever be staying...

I had car trouble and asked for the nearest motel which turned out to be the Northwoods Inn. I went over and asked if they accept pets since I had a dog with me. Yes they did and so I signed in. I found that the room was very clean, simple, and just what I needed. The lady was very cordial and told me where I could find a mechanic the next morning. I got to the mechanic and the repairs took a little longer than my 11am check out time but no problem as far as the owner was concerned. I was so impressed with her helpfulness and concern I just may look for a reason to stay there again since I go up north...
