If I could give 0 stars I would. Appropriately named, I might add! Our experience was one constant train wreck. My fiance told the staff he would not leave a bad review, however we had to make two restroom stops on the way home on top of continuing to "not feel well" at home, for lack of a better term, so I will be leaving one instead.

It was a seat yourself place so we walked around and there were a bunch of empty booths filled with dirty plates. No big deal. We picked the least dirty and sat down. No one came to clear the table for at least 5 minutes. No big deal. The lady that looked like some sort of a manager was just standing at the computer, rather than pitching in.

The waitress was clearly stressed out because she introduced herself to us twice. She wasn't paying attention when we were giving our drink order, then only dropped off two of three drinks. No big deal. It took an additional 10-15 minutes to get the other drink and get our orders taken, FOREVER for the food to come, and when the waitress went to set down my fiance's plate, she noticed it had a fricking hair in the eggs! Big deal!! Doesn't your kitchen staff wear gloves and hair nets or a hat???

We really should have just gotten up and went somewhere else at that point but we didn't. So now the rest of us either eat without him or wait, and eat cold food. They re-made his food, but the eggs were undercooked and super runny/snotty. His and my son's bacon, which we paid extra for, were so burned they were inedible, they re-fried the hashbrowns they originally gave him, rather than "re-making" them, and his toast was barely toasted and sopping through front to back with butter. His hand was glistening.

They add a 12% "optional" gratuity fee to the tab automatically because according to the front cover of the menu, they "split it amongst the staff because their excellent service and teamwork deserves it". Meanwhile, the lady who appeared to be a manager was pacing the store, not bussing tables, not ringing up customers so that her waitresses can focus on serving their guests, and then decides that it's time for a smoke break, while everyone else picks up her slack and runs around frazzled.

Even after they removed the charge for my fiance's meal, our bill still came to over $35 for two meals and three beverages, which is extremely overly priced for breakfast, considering our bodies have all since rejected said food.

I RARELY complain about the food/service at a restaurant and we ALWAYS tip 20-25% when we eat out/order delivery, but we refused to leave any sort of a tip because the whole dining experience was.....and continues to be......an awful experience. My fiance is in bed because he is still feeling ill from the food. I would have not left a negative review but the diarrhea that accompanied the meal put me over the edge. Needless to say, we will not be returning or recommeding this...

First, I have to say I don't usually write bad reviews and I wasn't going to but it still bothers me a month later of our terrible experience we had. My husband wanted breakfast and wanted to go to his favorite spot but I told him we should try Lazy Bear Grill! It looked so cute! He agreed. Then we order scrambled eggs, french toast, bacon, and hashbrowns. The eggs were not scrambled, they were mixed around the pan quick and were stringy white and gross. The hashbrowns were undercooked and dripping with grease. I asked for the waitress to remake the hashbrowns and she had them remade but brought back almost as bad hashbrowns as the first time. She then proceeded to tell us that there are new cooks and we might have better luck next time. In what world is that acceptable?!?!? I said thats not really acceptable when we barely ate any food except the bread, so she goes back and says she can only take 25% off. Then another waitress says she can give us oatmeal to go but then our waitress says she was gluten free too and it upset her stomach! I'm gluten free but my husband is not. I thought is she trying not to give us food to eat even though we paid for it! My husband even gave her a tip! I was so mad at this point but my husband was getting embarassed because it was his birthday so we left and we were both so upset and it totally ruined his birthday. I have to say I loved the gift shop. We went down to look before we ate and I found so many things I wanted to buy but I didn't because of our horrible experince:( The two stars is because they have a cute gift shop, but the food deserves 0 stars! Bad customer service when you tell your customers better luck next time! I hope the manager sees this review and refunds our money and asks more about this...

TL;DR - Cozy and quick stop right off of I35 that has a lot going for it, but a sub-par burger brought down my experience. Would give it another try but probably wouldn't get a burger again.

This Was Weird: They add a "voluntary service fee" that is basically a 12% tip to get shared amongst the staff, which I'm totally OK with, and added more on top of that for my server. But in looking at the bill there's no way to automatically not include this fee, nor are there any instructions on what to do if you want to increase/reduce the fee so this "voluntary" fee definitely feels more "mandatory", though it's possible one could just simply ask to have it removed.

General Experience: quick friendly service; was seated immediately and got my order taken within 5 minutes of entering the building. cozy environment, very welcoming, very clean, and number little gift shop Food took about 15min to arrive; totally reasonable.

Food Experience: I got the Brunch Burger with cranberry coleslaw as a side. coleslaw was excellent; not too saucy, and cranberries added a nice flavor. Also came with a side of house-made... pickles? Pickled zucchini? I wasn't sure exactly but as someone who doesn't like pickles I still found it pretty good! Burger was overall 'OK': Bun was very good and homemade, toppings were done nicely with the bacon being crisp, onions were nicely caramelized, good egg and cheese, etc. Really the burger was only held back by the patty being WAY overdone. The patty was super dry; all of it's juice and flavor had been cooked out and it really only served to detract (significantly) from the rest of the flavors. It's unfortunate, because so much care was put into everything else on my plate, but the burger patty itself was, frankly, a waste...

Our family stopped here on our way home from the Duluth Superior area, and I am glad we did. Everything is fresh, made and prepared in house. We had quick friendly service from a server named Jackie. She had a genuinely welcoming smile on jer face every time she would walk by and/or check on us. They have some items off menu you can still order. Price per item was great. breakfast served all day. Cafe style restaurant. There is a giftshop downstairs that does not have any merch that says Lazy Bear, they have a couple coffee mugs upstairs that do. There is a deck for outdoor seating, a large statue of a frontiersman, large wooden chair, a place to park campers, and a fenced in dog area. The restaurant is placed on top of a hill with a great view of the water. I ordered The Bigfoot Burger and this thing was delicious. 2 patties of fresh hand pattied beef, 2 types of premium sliced cheese, tons of crispy bacon, lettuce, tomato, bistro sauce and 2 beer battered onion rings. It was one of the better burgers I have had in a long time. Yes, I ate the whole thing.. and some homemade blueberry pie. Also delicious. I will gladly eat here again, and recommend to anyone passing by the stop is worth it.

We stopped here on the way back from Duluth, and chose the restaurant solely due to the large statue outside. When we arrived, we realized that all of the meals are homemade, and that the prices were EXTREMELY reasonable. (Most made-from-scratch restaurants have to charge more because they’re not ordering frozen food from a truck). The menu is very versatile, offering comfort food and all day breakfast as well! The food came out fast and was to die for. I had the small plate wild rice meatloaf with mashed potatoes, and was so full. The gift shop was very large and lined with many unique items- it wasn’t cheesy. I wish I would’ve gotten her name, but our lovely waitress (she has red hair) provided great service and was personable and friendly. 10/10 must stop here if you’re looking for an amazing dish and a dandy, cozy atmosphere!
