My fiancé and I arrived. He went in and I stayed with the car to finish pumping the gas. He is oftentimes stereotyped and very clearly not from the area. He came out distraught saying that this older blonde lady employee was rude and disrespectful. As a person of color it’s often difficult to explain covert racism and microagressions to those that don’t receive it regularly. Suffice it to say, there were those. I went in to assess the situation and the lady was nowhere to be seen. The man that served me was stand offish until I deliberately engaged in cordial conversation & then begrudgingly interacted. In any case, just a heads up. Closed minds close by. Which is weird to me, being that the restaurant next door receives lots of out of town customers and has been nothing but nice to us. The point of a gas station is the same. Most patrons aren’t locals and as a good business model one would want to have repeat customers.
