Cute spot for those traveling on I-35. The cafe boasts engaging decor with fun facts on the table, as well as questions to play 'I spy'. I indulged in an Italian Panini, while my wife opted for a BLT. Both dishes were nothing short of excellent. We complemented our meals with Italian sodas, and couldn’t resist grabbing a chocolate chip cookie to go. Highly recommended!

On your drive between Duluth and the cities you might consider passing by Hinkley, skipping the McDonalds at Moose Lake and stopping at the Chickadee for a coffee, treat, or sandwich. It’s a happy little deli and coffee oasis in the midst of the great coffee desert along Hwy35. Really pleasant local deli with a good interior and outside deck. Huge parking lot.

Stopped by for a quick lunch. Ordered their turkey sandwich with their well made french fries. It was delicious😋. Likely coming back when driving on i36 from Duluth. Follow up - went back today. Still good food; service a bit cold. Likely will do another follow up later this summer to check for consistency- an important criterion for us all.

Service was horrible. We ordered an Italian sandwich and a teriyaki chicken wrap. She said it'll be 5 to 10 minutes.

After about 15 minutes, they came out with an order. Unfortunately, it was not our order, it was for the couple that came in AFTER us. Waited some more, watched a couple of orders come for pickup. Finally, after 42 minutes, we got our order. They explained that they had gotten some phone orders in after ours, and had to take care of them. They would have been better off lying. Plus, 42 minutes to make maybe 8-10 sandwiches?

Perhaps what we should have done is sat at a table and phoned our order in? Then we wouldn't have had to wait so long.

Worst thing is, the food was excellent. Maybe it's because we were so hungry after waiting so long. Would have loved to go back for the food, but don't want to wait.

This is my 2nd negative in 20 years for anything.

UPDATE We returned today with my grandson. Service was much better, we received our meals within a few minutes. My wife loved her burger, my teriyaki wrap was good (not as great as my turkey Italian sandwich the last time). Teriyaki flavor was somewhat hidden by the sauce, but still good. My grandson loved his French toast fingers - I had one, and it was delicious. He told me I have to make his French toast this way from now on.

UPDATE 2 Have stopped here several more times and had great food and service. Stopped today with my ol' bud of 52 years, and had a great turkey bacon cranberry sandwich. After eating, we went to the back porch, and since there were no non-smoking signs, we smoked cigars well away from other customers. We were there for 4 hours. The owner came out a few times, and just smiled at us old guys. Was a great reunion...

On our way back from the north shore (headed to cities) we saw a billboard for this and were drawn to it - coffee shop (not a gas station, fast food, or big restaurant) with soups, salads, and sandwiches, yum! When we got there we were a little hesitant because the place is so small, in a small town, and there was only one other car there. We are so happy we stopped though. The place is so cozy and beautiful with quite a bit of seating (we didn't even go downstairs but saw the seating outside and on the main level). We ordered two wraps, teriyaki and chicken bacon ranch, and loved them both. The wraps were like panini pressed which was a pleasant surprise and had this amazing sauce (probably the garlic basil mayo). Plus, they were bigger than we expected. I've already told two people about this place and plan to go back whenever I'm back...

Just a delightful spot to stop for lunch off 35. The staff was helpful and friendly. You order at the counter, and they give you a pager if you want to wait for your order at a table. Very reasonable prices for the size of portions you get. Food is good, the french fries are huge and well seasoned while the ketchup packets are novel as they're not one of the major brands so it was a unique flavor experience. The atmosphere is where it really shines. There's indoor seating as well as patios on 2 sides. I was there in early September, and the 'back' patio seating is situated under eaves absolutely covered in what seemed like wild grape vines. It cut any afternoon heat, provided lovely shade, and cut down on any highway noise while looking lovely and still letting...
