Elements Modern Poconos Resort — Hotel in Barrett Township

Travelers and potential patrons – BEWARE! I am an avid traveler, having explored the world for over 30 years. I’ve stayed everywhere—tents, caves, yurts, Victorian mansions, medieval castles, even in Iraq and Afghanistan. None of those experiences compare to how filthy and disappointing this stay was.

The moment you enter, you’re hit with a nauseating stench—a mix of stale cigarettes, wet dog, urine, and other bodily fluids. The so-called “ambience” is revolting.

Customer service was equally underwhelming. After staying here, I cannot imagine how this property has accumulated so many five-star reviews—something feels dishonest about them.

Despite Jonathan Thomas’s repeated claims that “cleanliness is a top priority,” the reality is shocking. I presented him with undeniable evidence: • Human nails on the floor • Piles of dog hair and dirt • Trash and food remnants scattered about • Sticky, smeared refrigerator and mirrors • Urine stains • A couch so filthy and stained it should have been thrown out years ago

His response? Weak, dismissive, and far from what any guest deserves.

I have stayed in remote, developing regions of the world with far higher standards than this so-called “resort.”

Save your money. Protect your sanity. Do not book this place....

This was one of the most disappointing Airbnb stays. The place was dirty: floor covered with sand and stones, table full of food crumbs, and black hair in the bathroom definitely not mine, I have blonde hair. Cobwebs were everywhere, inside and outside by the entrance very unpleasant to even walk in. White walls were scratched, dented, and not maintained. Even the broom was disgusting, full of hair, clearly never cleaned.

I had also asked the host about checking out one day earlier and was told they would discuss it with the co-host — but I never received any answer. In other hotels this is never a problem, but here they just ignore you once they’ve received their money. Zero customer care.

No soundproofing at all, you hear everything from outside and other rooms. Photos are misleading, the place looks much bigger and nicer online than in reality, which felt like false advertising. Overall, neglected, uncomfortable, and not worth the money. I regret booking here and strongly do not recommend...

We had a great experience here. Clean room with nice amenities and attentive service through air b&b. Reasonable drive away from many great hikes and sites in the Poconos/Delaware Valley Water Gap....
