quick review of the motel we stayed in. I linked it for you guys. super super cozy and locally owned and operated. has way better ratings then the big chain competitors in town. if you ever have to travel through the northern part of nevada go show them some love ❤️ #fypシ゚viral #traveltiktok #nevada

I asked the ladies in the local grocery shop and they did me two massive favors, they sent me to The Big Chief Motel and also El Aguila Real, an authentic Mexican restaurant about halfway between the grocery shop and the Big Chief. If you're passing through Battle Mountain, a remote town in the spectacular Great Basin desert of Nevada, then aim your preferred mode of traveling, bicycle, motorbike, motorhome, etc, directly at these two exceptional businesses. The Big Chief Motel is fairly priced, super clean, and full of benefits including a generous continental breakfast and a palatial swimming pool. I stayed a night and wished I could have stayed much longer!

Comfortable mattress!!! (I say this first, because it's the most important thing to me in a hotel. That's what I'm paying for; a bed.) Soft, yet supportive King size bed with nice, clean bedding that had a high end feel. Fridge worked excellent. Microwave Large flat screen TV with DirecTv Room is a little "cozy", and some furniture is dated, but the room was very clean. Good water pressure and quality towels. Air Conditioner unit blew cold. I'll definitely stay here again when traveling through Nevada.

well lets see first the handle for the tub drain is missing a screw so it wont drain right . also they charge extra for a kitchenet when its only a two burner stove top with a large sink slapped into what used to be a closet if you wanna call it that . house keeping complains about every little thing they can possibly think of. and when they dont make your bed the way head of housekeeping wants them to , they try to blame the tenants for it .because some one else would not close the laundry room door it was locked on us early while our belonging were still inside.and locked before the time it was due to be closed ,with the excuse that it was going to get cold that night. when simply they could put a sign on the door asking it stay closed durring the winter months so not to freeze the pipes. house keeping personel do not speak english while cleaning your room with you present of wich they could be talking about you infront of you and if you didnt know spanish you would never know. if you live in america please speak english after all we are nice enough to let you live here too.and yes continental break fast could be much better then cold cereal if i wanted that i would go buy some and have it in my pretend kitchenet. and if you have noisy tenants next to you dont count on any one doing anything about it . even if your there cause of having to be in the area on a job and realy need sleep. we had to rent a room else where on the weekend due to excessive noise at all hours of the night on our days off . just to get enough rest to continue to work the rest of the week .theyer wifi is no good. it either says no access or limited most of the time due to not having had ordered the proper inter net package for a motel establishment . and if you plan to rent weekly for awhile and you let them know this they are still demanding that you pay first thing in th morning for all the hassels and rundown room you are renting from them. over all i would not recomend it there are no pictures on the walls there are holes in the walls that are not patched up beds are good but thats about it. i wouldnt let my dying father inlaw stay here and yes he realy is dying right now as i write this . we are having to buy a used motor home to stay in cause this place is out right obsurd thanks for letting writ this .1 being the worst 10 being the best i rate this place at a 1 and a...

I stayed at this motel while on Permanent Change of Station travel status for the federal government. I called and asked if they would accept the government travel rate, and they confirmed that they did and booked me a king room. I affirmed with them over the phone that I had an emotional support animal and my partner with me and they stated that they understood. Upon arrival, I checked in with no problems and the worker at the desk was kind. My room had 2 sets of towels in it, like any normal king room. It was a wet, snowy day and I wanted to protect the motels new floors, so I used one bath towel as a floor mat. I went to the desk to ask for an additional bath towel, and they said they would ask housekeeping and have one when I returned from dinner. When I returned for the towel, apparently the manager had told the front desk worker that they had to charge me an "extra person fee" for my room. I was completely confused as to why this was necessary. The front desk worker was obviously confused as well and it seemed like she never had to do this before. I asked why, and she stated something along the lines of "uh because...you use more towels and things..." I was in a king room with my partner. They give you 2 sets of towels for a king room. I told them upon booking that it was 2 people. So I paid the fee because I needed another towel because I used one to protect their floor and felt awkward when they asked. The girl at the front desk couldn't elaborate as to why this fee was necessary. This felt like an absolute money grab by the manager. Were you mad that I had a government rate? Were you mad I had an emotional support animal? Were you mad I had a partner? It was completely wrong to not disclose an "extra person fee" upon booking a room for 2 people, and it was even worse to suddenly spring it on me after I had checked in and paid for the room because I asked for ONE extra towel to protect YOUR new floors. I have never been treated so poorly by a hotel or felt so unvalued as a guest. They said they receive government workers all the time so they know how a government rate works. I will certainly never stay here again and will tell those in my office to also...

Great place, fairly inexpensive. Some stuff was shut down due to COVID-19, but honestly it was stuff I wasn't gonna use anyways, so no biggie. Staff was friendly, TV was newer and a good size, sheets were very comfortable, I really didn't want to get out of bed in the mornings.

Breakfast is from 6-9, so if you're normally a late sleeper on vacations like I am, you may want to keep that in mind. I finally set an alarm so I could see what they had the morning before I left, and the selection was fairly standard, but still good.

When I got there, I found a waffle maker with the mix ready to go, apple and orange juice, a selection of several bagels and muffins, as well as some pre-packaged "Little Debbie" types of pastries. There was coffee, a few types of cereal with milk, half&half, and hard boiled eggs in the fridge. I'm forgetting a few things, but I've been gone a couple days now and that's what I can remember.

I asked the receptionist for advice on where to eat, she recommended a Mexican place called Aguila Real down the road, which turned out to be a solid recommendation. I also ordered a pizza from Mama's Pizza and Deli while I was here, and frankly it was probably the best pizza I've had in like a year.

For checkout I just left my card at the front and I was all set. Nice inexpensive (but not bottom of the barrel) hotel, nice little town, will definitely make this one of my stops if I'm traveling through this area on...
