Very pleasant experience. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was the standard hotel breakfast. Eggs, meats, breads, yogurts, hot oatmeal with all the fixins,, fresh fruit , coffee bar. Even local newspaper available. Nice touch. Our room was clean and comfortable. (We had the suite.). There is a nice little station with microwave, refrigerator and a single-use coffee pot with basket for coffee and tea. The adjoining sitting room was nice. There was a love seat that opened up to bed, TV, coffee tables, desk and lamp and there was the ability to have an attached room if we so chose. The bedroom area was nice as well. The bed was very comfortable, there was the TV in the room with the dresser, closet, a bench, and a small armchair. I only Downer was being older with bad knees.. the toilet were low. Which would have been fine but there was no grab bar near commode. There was a grab bar to get into the tub but nothing to hang on to while showering. Shower head was extremely high which would be good for normal person height, but if someone 5'5 or shorter they would not be able to reach to just it. That being said there was plenty of water pressure ; we were on the second floor and the water was good and hot. The room had NO offensive odors. There is a workout area with one treadmill and one elliptical. There is also free weights. There was no water dispenser in there but they did have a package of Lysol wipes to wipe down equipment after use. The pool area is very small. The pool is only 4 ft deep. But we were thankful to have the ability to swim. There is no hot tub. There was a special needs chair but it had a sign on saying it was not functioning. They did have a corner of the small pool with stairs so if you did have a special needs person you could step into the pool. There were plenty of towels on the rack.. however the pool area was a bit cold. And the water was temperate. All in all I highly recommend the Fairfield inn. Also there were plenty of restaurants and gas stations...
Read moreMy daughter and 3-year-old granddaughter and I were caught in the snowstorm returning from a funeral in NY to our homes in MD and WV. 99 South was awful so we decided to get off the highway. When i researched hotels in Bedford PA, the Fairfield looked most promising for us because it had a pool for my granddaughter and a continental breakfast in case we could not get out. Due to so many people pulling off the highway, the hotel was almost full, and we were lucky enough to get a handicapped suite, which was perfect for us. Traveling with a 3-year-old can be trying, and the suite gave her enough room to push the "rolly car/chair" back and forth to go home, to the store, to school, and the bouncy park. She would put it in the closet, which was her home. We had 2 TV's, one in the bedroom and a 2nd by a small sofa, which made it possible to put the child to bed and the adults to still watch TV without disturbing her. Beds were super comfortable. Room was warm. The pool was terrific. The breakfast was fantastic, and there was coffee and bananas and apples available all day. Great coffee too! Plenty of fast food and a decent steak restaurant within walking distance. All staff were so kind and welcoming. Had to stay 2 days, but must say what could have been misery seemed like a mini vacation. Thank...
Read moreTraveling more than I used to, I've come to count on Fairfield Inns in my travels and I was not disappointed.
From the newspaper in the lobby with hot and cold beverages readily available to relax if I couldn't sleep - to the banana I grabbed on my way out the door in the morning... There's something just peaceful and restful that's staying in a Fairfield.
On this day in Bedford the staff particularly stood out. "I'll make sure the pool door is open for you." "I will confirm..." and a few other phrases from staff are indicative of how instead of a simple answer, staff members went out of their way to ensure I had a good experience without being intrusive. They just seem to take that extra step when I did have a need ... With a calm, practical underlying asurance.
You took care of things so I could concentrate on what I needed to get done and on taking care of me. As a mom there's a subtle difference I noticed.... That goes above and beyond politely meeting requests, smiling and wishing me a good day to actually paussing a moment before you get back to working hard... Just to make sure in your mind that I'm good.
Thank you.
From late night check ins to those sharing a cup & ideas at computers or just having a relaxing breakfast with a college kid, I think you made it a great stay for more...
