The rooms were really nice. Large in size, clean and comfortable. The pool area was nice and adequate. Beyond that, the hotel was just ok. There were several things that just didn't seem "thought out" all the way.
Becky and the front desk staff were pleasant enough and helped with what was asked of them, but didn't go out of their way to accommodate. It appeared that maybe Becky was the only person able to check guests in as there was a line to do so with others just standing behind the desk. (Maybe only one computer to check in? Not sure? Quite possibly not Becky's fault)
In the evening, our group was told to leave the common area at 10:00pm both nights we were there. I found this very strange since quiet hours were not until 11:00. (We were not being overly boisterous or loud. Just socializing.) Good thing it was nice out as both nights we took our group outside to the parking lot across the street.
Breakfast in the morning was not great. It was way over crowded in the tiny area where you choose your food. The hostess was not able to keep up and seemed to hate her job. She was very unfriendly when approached. Guests were always just standing around waiting for food to get filled, or coffee, or forks, or to get the pancake machine to get refilled, etc. The overall design of the area did not seem to be well thought out. There was no flow. In example, the only two garbage cans in the area were in the small breakfast serving area, one under the coffee service and the other under the juice. Hard to throw plates away when there are people always in front of the receptacles.
Lastly, which may be a little nit-picky, while we were down to the pool in the morning, we hung the "we're busy" sign on the door trying to signify that we didn't want maid service quite yet. They came in anyway, pulled the covers up (didn't make the beds), folded the toilet paper into triangles and replaced the toiletries. It all just seemed kind of odd.
Overall, the rooms are nice and comfortable. It just seemed like the overall concept of the hotel was strange and not...
Read moreI will start by saying the the overall experience was very good. I would always recommend this hotel. I was greeted properly and overall staff was professional. The room was great. Loved the larger refrigerator. There are just a couple of things that could be improved regarding the breakfast experience. It would be nice to have a little variety on a day to day basis. I understand there are certain IHG standards that you are required to follow, however I have stayed at many Holiday Inn Express properties who have offered more variety on a day to day basis. Seven days in a row of sausage and the same egg options was just a bit much. Other properties have offered biscuits and gravy, bacon, Canadian bacon or French Toast sticks on alternative days so we are not getting the same thing everyday. In addition, the pancake machine was "out of order" a few times which was disappointing when we were tired of eggs and sausage. It seemed it just needed to be filled. Lastly, most of the tables were dirty. I feel it is critical that the tables be cleaned when each customer is done. If you were running a restaurant you would not seat people at a dirty table. The same standards should apply to the breakfast room. Even when someone did wipe down some of the tables, it was not very thorough. There were still crumbs, etc., left over on the tables. Again, I would always recommend this hotel and just providing some suggestions to enhance...
Read moreWe stayed at this location for convenience to family. The location is convenient for dining, going to the Kwik trip or getting on the interstate. From arrival, staff exceeded our expectations with superb customer service. We were assigned a handicap accessible room, for my father, on the 2nd floor. There is one elevator and 2 stairwells. The room was spacious, with 2 queen beds. It was extremely clean. There is a keurig coffee maker, microwave, small fridge in the room. The bathroom was very clean, without any stray particles on the floor. The inside of the tub was very clean. The bottom is a little slippery for a handicap room. But we had no problems. The shampoo and body wash are mounted on the wall in shower. There is a pullout couch and another side chair. The room was great! We had to wait for the elevator during some maintenance that occured while we were there. The staff was great about keeping us informed about progress since my father could not use the stairs. The pool and hottub are large and inside. There is also a fitness room had more than one treadmill and stair stepper. The breakfast was good and cooked fresh. Eggs, bacon, sausage. Choice of cereal, fruit, oatmeal, breads, muffins, juice, coffee, etc. Checkout was easy- we walked by, laid our room cards on the counter and walked out the front door. We highly recommend and will stay there again, when we are...
