I've stayed at @Sun Outdoors Frontier Town ever since I was a little girl. I want my kids to experience it too. #sunoutdoors #sunoutdoorsfrontiertown #frontiertown #ocmd #oceancitymd #Waterpark #summer #fyp #summervibes #campinglife #campground

We had a wonderful time at this campground. We were lucky enough to get a corner lot up against the woods so it was very peaceful and private with our camper parked next to our only neighbor. Other sites were not so private. The only downfall to all that privacy was the distance to the bathroom. There are only two and while they are very busy places, they are constantly cleaning throughout the day and are kept very clean. I had to drive to the bathroom every morning though because my bladder would never have waited for me to stumble that far. Most people use golf carts but I did not make a reservation and there were none available by the time I realized how vital they are here. My dad and my brother were disappointed that they were not allowed to use their bicycles because they had been converted to electric. This rule seems unreasonable when you have hundreds of golf carts and little motorbikes and bicycles and scooters already sharing the same space. My dad is a disabled veteran and he can’t pedal and my brother is an epileptic who uses his bicycle to get around on a daily basis, neither were happy with the discrimination against ebikes. The water park is an awesome amenity and a great place to take the kids. They have plenty of lifeguards and it’s a pretty secure environment where I was able to watch the little ones in the kiddie area and let the 11 year old go to the big slides on his own. They even had smaller ones that the 6 year olds could go down. The mini golf, ice cream parlor and arcade were all big hits with the kids. We did the golf once and the kids got their video game fix at the arcade a couple of times. A man came around and gave us tickets for free skeeball so that kept us going back. By the end of the week my kids had earned enough tickets to get a few cool things, the 11 year old is particularly pleased with his glow in the dark glass dolphin. The crabbing dock was another big hit with my family. You can buy all the supplies right at the cantina but we saved quite a bit buying our collapsible baskets at Walmart for less than $5 each, it’s only a few minutes away. We did not keep any but we caught quite a few “keepers” and the kids were ecstatic about how easy it was. I bought bait at the cantina and it was only $2.50 a day for a new pack of chicken necks so that wasn’t so bad. The cantina is actually very well stocked with camping supplies and we were in there every morning for coffee. Pro tip: buy a refillable coffee cup and fill it for a dollar. You can also refill the cardboard ones but they don’t hold up for very many cups. If you like frozen coffee drinks like I do you have two choices: the F’real shake maker in the cantina has a coffee flavor with lots of caffeine and I got by on those most mornings, or you can get a coffee chocolate chip ice cream shake at the ice cream parlor. This campground is also really close to Ocean City and the boardwalk if that is your thing or you can go the other way and hang out on Assateague with the ponies. We tried all the beaches, Ocean City, Assateague, and we even drove all the way down to Chincoteague to visit the southern end of the island and take a picture with Misty. Our favorite beach is the northern end of Assateague because you get to see a ton of wildlife and the beach is so less congested. I have three wild animals myself who tend to run over top of people’s stuff on a crowded beach, but Assateague on the northern end is the place to go if you want some space. The trails are great and easy for young children and the views are amazing. Overall this is a great campground for families. It is on the pricier side of most campgrounds but the amenities make up for it. The only reason I am taking away one star is because I think they should change the ebike rule and because I think the water park should be open later. Six o’clock in that heat is still brutal.

Frontier Town? More like Shanty Town. This isn’t a campsite, it’s an RV trailer park for both short- and long-term stays. The fact that there are signs that read "Respect your neighbors. No Confederate flags" tells you plenty, and yet red “Jesus is King” and Blue Lives Matter flags still fly proudly from the back of golf carts that drive around the campground. The clientele defines the experience, and unfortunately that’s not something management can fix. Permanent and seasonal trailers seem to dominate. The site next to us had an established shed on their plot and their trailer was propped by cement blocks - clearly there for the long haul not a weekend under the stars. The vibe is less camping, more “low-class free-for-all.” My spouse summed it up best: this place sucks. Noise is constant. A chorus of barking dogs around the clock, kids screaming at sunrise, music blaring until “quiet hours” at 11 p.m., and golf carts buzzing endlessly. It didn't feel safe to let my young children ride their bikes because there were too many trucks and golf carts haphazardly driving around. On the first full day we were there, we couldn't even sit outside our camper in any peace. The neighbor immediately next to us mowed their tiny patch of grass for nearly an hour (yes, the camper or rather tenant was mowing their own plot of land, not the facility) while another person across the way hammer-drilled their lifted truck. Directly across from our site, golf carts pulled in all night, their 3 dogs aggressively barked at every passerby, and trucks were crammed in so tightly it was nearly impossible to back into our site. Bathrooms are dated but clean, showers warm, and the camp store is surprisingly well-stocked with essentials and a large selection of RV gear. The Sun Outdoors campwide WiFi? Useless. It didn't work at all. Most people seemed to have brought their own hotspots. A nearby private network was named "ICE Surveillance" in a campground packed with families of every background, but somehow the loudest and most visible were the self-proclaimed “proud white guys.” The staff were kind. I watched a young clerk impressively keep her cool while refusing to sell beer to a man with an expired ID. He started to grow loud in front of his kids until another guest thankfully intervened. The waterpark and pool are fine. But it's full of shrieking kids while parents shout back or parent from behind their phone screens. My kids bailed on the playground after older children filled the slides with swamp mud and mulch while their father looked on and then left them unsupervised to continue. Other “highlights” included: Bible verses chalked across the road in our loop while a saggy-diaper toddler from the same site ran around shirtless and barefoot; overhearing a husband berate his wife while they packed their truck with covered license plates; and in the bathhouse, a mom telling her toddler to just pee while mid-shower instead of leaving the shower stall to use the toilet stall. We were supposed to stay a long weekend but left early. It was the least relaxing campsite we’ve ever visited. If I could, I'd ask for my refund. I'm so disappointed that my family wasted an otherwise lovely long weekend here. I thought given the proximity to OC and the waterpark feature, it would be a fun stay. But between the noise, lack of personal accountability from the other "campers", and chaotic environment, this felt more like living in a shanty town than camping. Expensive RVs, big expensive trucks and individual golf carts don’t buy class.

21 years of camping here. 21 years of making memories and this summer was the one that will be our families last summer. The worst experience ever. From the reception, to checking in , to trying to sleep to leaving. Worst trip ever. First of all calling to make a reservation so there are no problems is a joke. Getting here thinking I had piece of mind that everything was in order. Getting here when told by the receptionist, to pay a early fee(which was never the problem) then getting to our sites that they changed last minute that we had pad a lock fee on due to our unique situation the sites had to be side by side. Hence paying the lock fee. Had family and friends also camping this trip with us on sites right near us as well. To resolve this issue they moved us to premium (nothing premium about it) there where special medical reasons why we wanted to be where we made our reservation for. Fast forward… finally get to our site to have one problem after after. Young children on the site behind us up until 4:12 in the morning blaring music and drinking and throwing glass by the bathrooms that they put us right next to. Early check in fee and lock fee was to be refunded but never was $160 just lost. Asked front office about it but they said no they discounted our premium sites. WHAT???? No no no they made a mistake, they gave our locked sites away. Fast forward to day two.. anyone heard of a dog leash and cleaning up after your dogs?? Disgusting! Fast forward to second night. NO QUIET HOURS !!!! They had a bus rv piece of crap coming in after 11 to set up directly behind our one sight. Literally up all night until 5:42am keeping all 8 of us awake all night. As they are not having a clue how to set up their rv yellow bus. They having their music on, yelling and carrying on and using awful profanity. Then scaring the crap out of my younger children in the middle of the night. Our three day mini vacation turned into a nightmare. No sleeping. No where near our friends and family and oh wait putting our family in harmful situations with the underage drinking and throwing glass on the concrete. Which found its way into my heel slicing it open. No water park for me. This place has gone downhill. Promising at 20% refund from my original reservation then promising a refund for my $60 early check in and refunding $100 lock fee. Receptionist said we’d be getting back $380 in total and that was not the case. This situation is far from being resolved. My disappointment that my family had to go through was heartbreaking. Wait they did find us a magical four seater golf cart that meant nothing when I reserved a 6 seater and had to make trip after trip instead of quality time with my family I was playing chauffeur. I can’t even put into words my frustration. Don’t come here. One more thing their cafe used to be open until 8 and now closed at 2. I had spoken to their park manager who makes empty promises. I did pay a late check out fee only fee I should be charged $30 due to the lies, miscommunication and under educated staff. I’m so saddened by this. Lessened learned. Frontier town , shame on you. Do better, be better. You have a opportunity for greatness. Two days two nights. Only thing we got to partially enjoy was the water park and they only had half opened. Making all my little ones not have anywhere to play or enjoy. If I could give a negative star I would maybe someone will read this and give me my refund that I was professed if not I guess other measures will need to be taken.. I remember a better water park, better hours better food better hours for the camp store. Better children activities. Very sad that the western frontier town is only half was functioning. Repair the things or have them removed. The train ride and bandits was a family favorite, the children activities were engaging and affordable. Have night time security to protect us and keep us safe. 8/18 they refunded the amount owed to be returned then this morning the refunded amount was with drawn back from campground. Bank verified. Guess I have to...

This was our first camping trip to Frontier Town and will definitely be our last. This was our only planned vacation this year and we have left without even seeing the beach.

We came to the park knowing we'd deal with some rain from Tropical Storm Fay, but had no idea we would be COMPLETELY washed out by it. We arrived by 3pm and didn't have everything set up until about 5:40pm due to size constraints on the campsite. That means we had no time to try out the Waterpark, lazy river, etc since they close at 6pm. The camper only pool was still open, but it was so full of people that we didn't feel comfortable swimming there. While setting up, a seasoned camper stopped by our campsite and advised us that our site would most likely be under water by morning and that we should be careful. At first, we dismissed his comments as just being unnecessarily negative. We decided to play it safe, however, and speak to a park employee about the situation. Randy, a ranger on a golf cart, told us he hadn't seen our area (PA19) under water in a very long time. He said that the sites closer to the bay were the ones that flooded. His advice comforted us to the point of deciding to stay and try to camp anyway. By 11pm the rain started. It was so heavy and so loud that we could barely sleep. By 1am, the pooling water started leaking into our tent. We hastily packed up everything from the tents except our beds. The weather reports had changed again to show even more rainfall, but there wasn't much water laying anywhere near us. We decided to just sleep in the car for the rest of the night and dry everything out the next day. I woke from an on/off sleep to find our brand new canopy blown over (with our tents attached)! The water was nearly two inches deep! There was no way for the stakes to hold the canopy down from the wind. We had no choice at that point but to pack everything up. The rain was pouring so heavily into our eyes that it made all the work ten times more difficult. As we worked, we saw massive amounts of random detritus floating by us: dog feces, dirty diapers, food waste, shoes, firewood, trash...really disgusting to witness! Around 8am we had finally gotten the car packed back up. We were all soaked to the bone, freezing cold, and covered in whatever was floating in the water. Water that was now up to our knees in this area that supposedly didn't flood, I might add. We watched park employees drive by to clean out the storm drain-off canals. Very frustrating. Also, as we drove out, we noticed that other campsites near us were not anywhere near as flooded. The whole length of campsites on the side of PA19 were ALL flooded, however. I stopped at the front desk to see about being refunded since we had LITERALLY only been "utilizing" this campsite from 3pm-6am (If you can even count the time when we sat in our car!). The lady behind the desk already seemed to be in a bad mood because when she told me the amount to be refunded back to card I repeated it questioningly. She snapped, "Yes, because you've stayed one night already!" Did I want to go all Karen on her and demand the rest? You bet. But I was so exhausted from lack of sleep and survival games I hadn't in my wildest dreams imagined could happen while camping, that I just let it go. You live, you learn!

If this was MY business and I witnessed a customer dealing with such a ridiculous situation (mind you, that COULD have been prevented had they been given honest information), I would have refunded the entire amount! I was literally dripping wet on their floor and shivering because we had to leave in such a hurry!

Oh! And let's not forget how absolutely unhygienic the bathrooms are! The shower curtains and tiles are spotted with black mold, clumps of hair strewn everywhere, random gooey globs of God-knows-what (spit? Worse?), AND there was a used tampon on the floor! I understand that alot of people can be monsters when it comes to using public facilities and Frontier Town has no way of controlling that. However, don't advertise that you've "upgraded" the amount...
