My husband and I stayed here for the day before our wedding and our wedding night because it was on the list of local hotels near our venue. We thought that since we've had previous good experiences in a Marriott, this would be a safe choice to have a room block for our wedding guests. However, It ended up being of the worst decisions we made pertaining to our wedding due to the stress it has caused me.
Things were okay when we checked in. When we got back from our rehearsal dinner, we found a notice on the ground stating that there would be water work done the next day (the day of our wedding and the day our wedding guests would arrive to get ready for our ceremony/reception). I'm wondering who's decision it was to not let me know of this water work being done at the hotel because it definitely would have been nice to know ahead of time. I was told the water work was planned months ahead. If this was the case, I would have chosen another hotel for myself and my wedding guests. But they chose to not even let us know at the time of check-in, but by a note slipped under our hotel door.
I spoke to the front desk personnel and they were helpless. They were unable to resolve our issues. I had to call Marriott customer care who were just as helpless because apparently the General Manager has all the power over this hotel. Anyway, only after my call with Marriott customer care, did we receive a phone call stating that the water work could be pushed to another day. Also looks like there was another wedding happening the same day as mine and that party was staying at that hotel. I'm sure all the hotel guests are grateful that I spent my night before my wedding handling this issue for them. I spent a good chunk of my night trying to figure out how to switch hotels on such short notice and how to notify my guests that were staying here to switch. My husband and I had no time to practice our first dance routine because of this issue.
We were provided a plate of cookies and fruit. But that really doesn't make up for the stress and worry I had to go through on the night before my wedding.
Overall, I felt it was very unprofessional for the hotel to withhold this information that would directly affect my wedding party and guests on the day of my wedding.
Also, do not bother with the breakfast buffet. It was about $17 for breakfast that basically is eaten super cold because the plates are not warmed up. The selection is very small and you might as well go out to a local breakfast spot for a warm meal.
There's no one to help you with bags when you check in or check out. They have a cart for you, but you have to manage all that by yourself.
There are 2 elevators for the hotel, but only 1 works.
They lock you out of your hotel room even though checkout is clearly stated to be at 12pm. So just beware, you'll have to go back to the front desk the day you are checking out to get access to your hotel door if you need to get back in.
About the room itself, the hotel was fairly clean. The window sill did have some insects on it, but far away from the bedding that I did not make a big deal about it. I expected a microwave in the king suite, but nope, no microwave.
I would never stay here again especially not for a...
Read moreI would not recommend this hotel to any wedding parties!!! The night of our wedding myself, my wife, and 20 of our guests were stranded at the venue for more then 45 minutes while the shuttle service failed to come pick us up from the event after the scheduled pickup time. There was no communication about any issues with the shuttle and no attempts at coming to get us with another shuttle. The night of the event after we were waiting for a shuttle to arrive to come pick us up no one at the front desk staff was aware of any complications with the shuttle. Weeks prior to the wedding we confirmed the shuttles, and the shuttle schedule with Katherina the group sales director and Michelle the general manager to ensure there would be no problems. Communication with Katherina has from the start has been very poor. It takes multiple emails and phone calls to get a response from her. It took phone calls to the general manager before we got an expedited response from her. To this day, a month after the wedding we have yet to be satisfied with any compensation they have given and have not gotten the points we are allotted from the group of rooms we had booked for our wedding, or the conference room we rented, or the morning after breakfast we had at the hotel. We also received complaints from our guests about difficulty checking in, unavailable rooms after an online check in was performed, and the smell of sewage in their rooms. They promised us two shuttles when we first booked the room but a month before they only said one 11 person shuttle. We had 60+ people staying at the hotel and the venue was 10 minutes away. It took multiple phone calls and emails before they finally agreed to give us 2 shuttles. They also promised us the fire pits out back but then told us they would close at 11. It took a conversation with the general manager before she agreed to keep them open. The night of the wedding my friends had to convince them to relight them after they told us they were closed. I would not recommend using this hotels, there are other hotels in the area that have much better customer service and although may be further away or a few dollars more, the aggravation they caused my wife and I for the last few months is not worth it!! We even wasted part of our honeymoon negotiating some type of compensation for our pain and suffering. Please do not...
Read moreBooked a block for my wedding. And there was disappointment all around.
Some of it is due to covid and some of it is due to hurricane Ida.
Let's get the acts of God out of the way. Covid means. No ice machines and no water fountains. We left to get ice. And only later did we find out we could ask the bar in the lobby for ice. But if you dont have water fountains you better leave bottles of water in the rooms larger than 8oz. Also the bar in the lobby is closed
Next the storm flooded the first floor. So it stank. The lobby was all closed. And so where all the rooms on the first floor. But the hallway was open. Letting all the stank and musty air out. It took 4 days for them to throw plastic across the hall. We reserved the fire pits in the patio. Which also got flooded and didnt work.
Now the really bad.
I've been to hotels with mini fridges. They state they have a fridge in the room. Its not a fridge. It's a cooling chip cold box. When I say cold box I mean that lightly. My beer got HOTTER in the fridge. I put 1 beer in the fridge. 1 on the table. And one in a home made cardboard box and garbage bag cooler. Guess which one was the warmest. Thats right the pathetic excuse for a fridge. Not to mention that we are getting ready for a wedding. And this "fridge" doesn't fit more than 2 bottle of champagne.
The air conditioning takes a degree in rocket science to figure out. Mainly because they didnt leave instructions. Or a sticky not. That tells you the unit controls dont do anything. But instead look for the thermostat. Which is wildly inconsistent.
My only good thing to say, other that it's better than a tent(not by much), is the shampoo and body wash were actually...
