Okay so it’s almost 3 o’clock in the morning and I couldn’t help but write a review for the terrible experience I had at Hills of Herat last night for dinner. It was my little brother’s birthday and seeing the reviews and the tik toks about this place really made us curious to try it for the first time. From the jump you can tell that the operations of this restaurant was not smooth. We called and made a reservation for 8 people for 7:30pm and the table was not ready. It was clear that they overbooked the restaurant. Because we came on time. The restaurant was hot and extremely congested no where to stand and even wait. We waited and then we were sat at a table that only fit 6 people. 2 of us stood and waited for another table to finish their food to all be sat together after another 20 minutes. We finally ordered food. Drinks. The service was extremely inconsistent. Everyone got their drinks and my one friend didn’t receive hers until after the entrees came to the table. We ordered appetizers and they did not hit the table in a timely fashion, one side got an app while the other waited for the same app to come to the table. We were trying to eat together. We were not stingy we ordered the lamb shanks and lamb chops and the kabob trio etc and a few apps in hopes that the food will blow us away, My sister found a hair cooked in the manto dumpling. My friend and sister both spit up the appetizer and we complained. Showed them the hair in the filling of the dumpling. Then as the entrees hit my friend got her meal and the shrimp skewer she had found another hair cooked into the shrimp sticking out of it. My friend was visibly upset and showed one of the owners the hair. He took it back to the kitchen and we noticed them looking at it under the lamp where they have the open kitchen area. She didn’t even want a replacement, that friend of mine that spit up her food for the second time because there was a hair in her food twice just did not eat anything for dinner because of how disgusted she was. By this time, we ALL became wary about eating the food. This is a higher end restaurant, as someone who comes from the restaurant industry I know what the standards should be for hospitality and cleanliness. Especially if the price point is high. The food was not anything breathtaking nor was it actually sanitary to eat. We didn’t even end up ordering desert or cutting the cake we brough at the restaurant because of how upset we were. My husband ended up vomiting later in the night and my brother felt sick with a stomach ache on his BIRTHDAY. We drove 1 hour and 55 minutes for this!?!? I eat out pretty frequently and this was by far the worst experience I’ve had at a restaurant in a long time. The check came to almost 500$. I don’t want our server to get penalized because you could see he was trying his best and he solely deserves the gratuity for his back and forth. But for the overall experience due to the fact that my husband puked and I’m up at 3 o’clock in the morning, I will do everything in my power to dispute this charge. My husband is actually a food blogger and we bought a camera to review the food. I like to support Muslim owned businesses but this was such a disappointment. And I won’t be posting because the experience was actually that terrible and I wouldn’t want to sway anyone to come here and get cheated. I don’t feel that the owner/manager did what they should have to redeem us for this experience. They lost not only 8 customers who will all be writing reviews with pictures of the hair in the food but also lost a following of people and consistent business through each and every one of us and...
