Okay so it’s almost 3 o’clock in the morning and I couldn’t help but write a review for the terrible experience I had at Hills of Herat last night for dinner. It was my little brother’s birthday and seeing the reviews and the tik toks about this place really made us curious to try it for the first time. From the jump you can tell that the operations of this restaurant was not smooth. We called and made a reservation for 8 people for 7:30pm and the table was not ready. It was clear that they overbooked the restaurant. Because we came on time. The restaurant was hot and extremely congested no where to stand and even wait. We waited and then we were sat at a table that only fit 6 people. 2 of us stood and waited for another table to finish their food to all be sat together after another 20 minutes. We finally ordered food. Drinks. The service was extremely inconsistent. Everyone got their drinks and my one friend didn’t receive hers until after the entrees came to the table. We ordered appetizers and they did not hit the table in a timely fashion, one side got an app while the other waited for the same app to come to the table. We were trying to eat together. We were not stingy we ordered the lamb shanks and lamb chops and the kabob trio etc and a few apps in hopes that the food will blow us away, My sister found a hair cooked in the manto dumpling. My friend and sister both spit up the appetizer and we complained. Showed them the hair in the filling of the dumpling. Then as the entrees hit my friend got her meal and the shrimp skewer she had found another hair cooked into the shrimp sticking out of it. My friend was visibly upset and showed one of the owners the hair. He took it back to the kitchen and we noticed them looking at it under the lamp where they have the open kitchen area. She didn’t even want a replacement, that friend of mine that spit up her food for the second time because there was a hair in her food twice just did not eat anything for dinner because of how disgusted she was. By this time, we ALL became wary about eating the food. This is a higher end restaurant, as someone who comes from the restaurant industry I know what the standards should be for hospitality and cleanliness. Especially if the price point is high. The food was not anything breathtaking nor was it actually sanitary to eat. We didn’t even end up ordering desert or cutting the cake we brough at the restaurant because of how upset we were. My husband ended up vomiting later in the night and my brother felt sick with a stomach ache on his BIRTHDAY. We drove 1 hour and 55 minutes for this!?!? I eat out pretty frequently and this was by far the worst experience I’ve had at a restaurant in a long time. The check came to almost 500$. I don’t want our server to get penalized because you could see he was trying his best and he solely deserves the gratuity for his back and forth. But for the overall experience due to the fact that my husband puked and I’m up at 3 o’clock in the morning, I will do everything in my power to dispute this charge. My husband is actually a food blogger and we bought a camera to review the food. I like to support Muslim owned businesses but this was such a disappointment. And I won’t be posting because the experience was actually that terrible and I wouldn’t want to sway anyone to come here and get cheated. I don’t feel that the owner/manager did what they should have to redeem us for this experience. They lost not only 8 customers who will all be writing reviews with pictures of the hair in the food but also lost a following of people and consistent business through each and every one of us and...

Title: A Journey of Delightful Flavors: Exploring Afghan Cuisine.

Introduction:

Embarking on a culinary adventure through the Hills of Herat, I encountered a tavern that came to be the most splendid Afghani surprise of my life. Nestled in the heart of the city of the Basking Ridge, this hidden gem of a restaurant introduced me to a world of aromatic spices, succulent meats, and intricate flavors. Join me as I take you through a culinary voyage filled with enchanting dishes and delightful surprises.

Ambiance: From the moment I stepped into the restaurant, I was greeted by a warm and inviting ambiance that mirrored the rich heritage of Afghanistan Traditional Afghan blended with modern opulence, the deep rich eyes lady of Afghanistan adorned the walls, setting the stage for a cultural immersion. Soft lighting and comfortable seating created an atmosphere that was both intimate and relaxed, perfect for a memorable dining experience.

Appetizers: To begin this epicurean journey, I indulged in an array of appetizers that showcased the diversity of Afghan cuisine. The mantu, delicate steamed dumplings filled with seasoned ground beef, were a true revelation. Each bite yielded a burst of flavors, complemented by a tangy tomato sauce. Equally impressive were the unique and flavorful bolani (potato squash), offering a delightful contrast of textures.

Main Courses: The main courses at this Afghan eatery transported me to a world of gastronomic delight. The kebabs, cooked to perfection over an open flame, were a testament to the artistry of the Afghan chefs. The lamb kebab, tender and succulent, melted in my mouth, leaving behind a medley of aromatic spices that lingered long after each bite. The chicken tikka, marinated in a heavenly blend of rich spices, was equally sensational, offering a tantalizing balance of flavors.

Accompaniments: No Afghan feast would be complete without the accompaniments that enhance and elevate the main dishes. The fragrant “Kabuli Norinj rice,” delicately seasoned with raisin and carrots, was a work of art in itself. Its golden hue and irresistible aroma were irresistible. Paired with the rich and creamy Afghan dal, a lentil stew with a hint of smokiness, the combination was simply divine. The warm and pillowy Afghan bread, fresh from the oven, was the perfect vessel to savor these culinary treasures.

Desserts: Just when I thought my gastronomic voyage had reached its peak, the desserts arrived, providing a sweet finale to an extraordinary meal. The firnee, a delectable Afghan rice pudding infused with rosewater and garnished with pistachios, offered a delicate and refreshing conclusion to the savory feast. The sheer decadence of the jalebi, a syrup-soaked pastry, left me in awe, with its intricate swirls of sweetness.

Conclusion: My experience at Hills of Herat was nothing short of remarkable. From the moment I entered the restaurant, I was immersed in the vibrant culture and flavors of Afghanistan. The culinary prowess displayed in each dish was a testament to the rich culinary heritage of this remarkable nation. Whether you are a connoisseur of international cuisine or an adventurous food lover, exploring the delights of Afghan food will undoubtedly be a journey...
