I have been coming here forever. Over the past year or so this place has gone way down hill. My wife and I ordered takeout on Christmas Day. I showed up 5 minutes before the time. The soup was stone cold, the dumplings were undercooked and cold, the bokchoy was overcooked and my wife ordered brown rice instead of white rice. That did not happen. Only white was in the bag. Nothing had any flavor Tonight my wife wanted to give them another shot. I told her to let them know on the phone what had happened with the last order. The woman that answered the phone said that she only answers the phone and she is not responsible for the food. She said that she would go in the back and make sure it got bagged properly. When I went to pick it up, I spoke to the only women there and she told me exactly the same thing she told my wife. She is only an employee answering the phone and she is not responsible. I asked her what does that have to do with the quality of the food when you make sure the order is packaged properly. She told me I have to talk to the manage/owner. I said to bring him out, I would love too. Said he was busy cooking without even asking for him. But also told me that he doesn’t want her talking about this anymore without even talking to him. Obviously she didn’t want other customers listening to me. She told me I was making her feel bad and responsible. I said I just wanted to make sure she understood that there is a difference between packing an order and quality of food. Told her she could have offered me a discount. Her response was the boss said I could have one next time I come in. How that conversation happened without her talking to anyone is a mystery to me. Truth is, I think she is the owner. Upon leaving she again stated she only works their and I replied that I don’t and she quickly responded with it is a good thing you don’t. When she ran my card she said I had to fill in the part for the tip. I said I DID AND NO TIP FOR YOU! She was very rude. YOU WON’T SEE ME AGAIN. I never write reviews. This is a first. They certainly do not appreciate business and should not be in it. IF I COULD HAVE GIVEN THEM NO STARS FOR THIS REVIEW...
Read moreMyself and a colleague met here for a quick dinner meeting.. The moment we walked-in the woman rudely asked if we were going to eat something, I said yes I am going to order. We sat and began talking while reviewing the menu. The woman then asked us the same question, I told her that we weren't quite ready. After 3min or so, she approached us and told us in a very rude and confrontational manner saying, " you have to leave, because you're conducting your business and not ordering food, (we had probably been sitting there about 7min), then said and you don't have on a mask, I said that is correct, but I am sitting and you did not mention a mask requirement when we initially walked in. I then said I would go and get a mask. She then said I want you to leave because you're being rude, doing your business here... she went on and on in such a nasty and disrespectful manner. It was so unwarranted that I couldn't grasp what was happening at the moment. I just said, "no problem, we're leaving and she continued being verbally aggressive. I never want to make things about race, but I can't help but wonder if my skin color was different, would her approach be the same...sadly I do not think so. My colleague is from African and I am a mixed race African American. He is a doctor, I am a nurse. Both of us professional, polite and respectful; even while she was being unnecessarily disrespectful. I live in Basking Ridge and have for many years and have never experienced anything like this. I love my town and enjoy living here. I support most of my local businesses as often as I can, but I will NEVER go back to Ling Ling. DEAR LING-LING- As an essential service agent, it reflects poorly on your commitment to the urgently needed patience, consideration and kindness that is required to get through times like this together. My encouragement would be to deeply reflect on the role you truly desire to play in these difficult times and how you would like to be remembered when we look back with reverence to honor the people who got...
Read morePicked up 1 small chicken and broccoli, 1 egg roll, and 1 small chicken lo-mein. Geesh, over $30. Totally overpriced. I was ready to cancel and walk out, but did not regrettably. I was hoping they would be quart sized, but NOT. Guess the snobby area supports this price? Food was nasty. And they included no dry noodles, guess you had to order and pay extra for that. That is a first for me. Very disappointing. No clue how this place is in business. The rice looked old and re-heated. Tasted as they added water to old rice and re-heated. I NEVER had such bad rice. Chinese restaurants always nail their rice and it is always spot on white and fluffy and fresh. This was not fluffy and was not pure white, grayish looking. The chicken was tiny stringy over sauced up mystery meat. Was not a fan. Last time for me. The only positive comment is that the kitchen looked very clean on the side I could see....not a grease pit from what I could see on the one exposed side on the right. I could not see the left side which has the cooking burners because it was partitioned off. A recommendation would be to remove that partition. It is nice to see the cooking taking place as a customer...
