Headed up north? Look no further than Shayne's Place Motel & Cabins, it will surely change your life. Don't be fooled by the old reviews... The Mio Songbird (now Shayne's Place) is under new ownership. Located in downtown Mio, Shayne's Place is the perfect spot to launch your adventures in one of Michigan's most beautiful and scenic areas. At Shayne's Place, you are a stone's throw from the supermarket, outfitter, saloon, and Au Sable River, a nationally recognized waterway and arguably the best river to fish and canoe in the entire Midwest. My family and I were fortunate enough to stay in Cabin #14, which was absolutely perfect. This little cabin was clean, cozy, and fully equipped with a tiny loft, kitchenette, queen bed, full bath with shower/tub, smart TV, and MORE! Additionally, my family and I spent a healthy amount of time outside; grilling food, tossing the football around, and tending the fire. The owners, Karrie and Lance, have plenty of fun activities to keep you and your family entertained. They are the best, most accommodating hosts one could ask for. We will continue supporting this small business for years to...
Read moreWe have been coming up here for years. Very disappointed in our stay this past weekend. The place has recently changed owners and our experience was horrible.
No hot water in both the cabins our group stayed in, so they gave us a key to a regular room, which smelled like pee. Low water pressure. Spider webs in the cabin we stayed in. Just seemed extremely dirty. The atmosphere made us feel very uncomfortable. When we observed the staff cleaning the rooms, never saw them take old bedding out or put new bedding in. Way over priced for being so outdated. Management didn’t even offer to take money off of our bill for our troubles.
Don’t waste your money, go somewhere else. It’s sad, but unfortunately we will probably not...
Read moreA little gem of a place. Very happy with our motel room. It was very clean with a microwave, fridge & small coffee maker. Shower was hot with good pressure.. beds were comfy. The owner started a fire in the bonfire pit each night we were there and both were very sweet and accommodating when we needed something or just info on the area. It's within walking distance to most everything in Mio and there is a 24hr gas station next door for midnight munchies or forgotten items. I would definitely recommend. (When reading the reviews, make sure you adjust for newest. The new owners have renovated everything in the last...
