The River House — Restaurant in Mentor Township

Food was fantastic and the waiting staff was great. I went on two different nights, on Monday the 30th and Tuesday the 1st. Monday was a great experience, great staff and accommodating even though we walked in with 12 people which I know can be overwhelming. Special shoutout to the waitress that night because despite the odds, she was able to fulfill every single persons request in a timely manner and she did not seem bothered. Tuesday night, however, I had asked for a bag of ice from the bartender and he seemed like he could not be bothered. Sunday night we did a glow golf thing with the family and it turned wrong, resulting in me flying to through the front of the cart and hitting my whole face on the cart. I had a very good sized laceration on the inside of my lip and in order for he to actually keep the swelling down to chew, I needed a bag of ice. Monday night I asked for this and the waitress got it in a minute with no problem and was actually a little sympathetic which was very nice. Tuesday night I asked for the same thing and the young bartender initially agreed. Only after 20 minutes of standing at the bar did I get the ice pack. The mannerisms indicated that he was obviously ignoring the situation and was also telling the other staff to do the same. The young, fair, blonde waitress, the young, dark haired hostess and the fat blonde hair waitress were all culprits as well. All knowing the request and intentionally ignoring. I genuinely do not understand this. I even showed this young kid the huge laceration on my lip but he was so overwhelmed by his simple task of filling orders. Anyways. The table had the following. Cod fish and chips with coleslaw, chicken tenders with fries and coleslaw, create your own burger (medium well) with fries, and a create your own burger (medium rare) with fries. The fries were good, they have a seasoned coating. The coleslaw according to the table was good. I personally did not try it. The cod was moist, beer batter dipped that stayed on the fish. Please keep in mind you get two fair size pieces of Cod. I think they could have added a 3rd piece but it was good. The chicken tenders were good with a lite flavorful batter. They were not thick pieces of chicken but you get plenty of them. The chicken was also juicy. Now for the burgers. Both burgers were cooked spot on. They were not just cooked correctly but the patties were clearly seasoned. If you want a good burger come here for they did a great job. The only thing I would say needed adjusting was how thick the onion slice was for the burger. It was almost as thick as the patty. I would cut them a bit thinner so they do not over power the burger. Can’t remember what this restaurant was called before, but I can tell you nothing has changed in service or quality of food, both of which sucks. Ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with ranch minusing everything but the chicken and cheese with fries and a side of ranch To ey brought the sandwich out right however, no ranch no seasoning on the chicken which was overcooked, stringy, and you go to cut and eat. I ate 3 bites and said forget this. My my server, but another came over to see if everything was alright explained what was wrong and she asked if I wanted her to do something about it. Ha! Let me out of here. Finally my server who is training a New employee brings the bill and processes my check and claims she brought out the additional sauces I said yes after I had to remind you to bring the ranch for my sandwich and ketchup for the fries. She never bothered to ask about my meal nor did she care I didn’t eat it but paid for it. Don’t bother with this place because no one ever apologized for the touch chicken because they don’t care what the customer expects or wants. The trainee should have gotten the tip I left as she is the one that listened and brought the ranch and ketchup...
