I can't believe that after my experience that this hotel is rated a 4.5 out of 5. I used that when choosing and booking this the room. I even read a large amount of reviews. So I am here to say that was not my experience and I am very displeased with how my experience went. I was told that I could have a rollaway for my daughter when I checked in but when I went to the front counter, I was told that it had already been given to someone else because she had forgot that I had requested it and that was honeslty my 2nd sentence after saying that I was there to check in. After I talked with her at the front desk she then changed her reasoning to our room wouldn't even fit the in our room. We had a full conversation about the rollaway at the time of check in and if that were the case then I could have gotten an air mattress for my daughter. Then when I went to shower the next morning there was no shower curtain on the shower and there was hair from a previous guest in the shower on the shower wall. Dark hairs that I took photos of and my daughter is blonde. I am very displeased because I should not have to inspect the room to make sure it's been cleaned. That's kinda why I picked a 4.5 star rated place! When I tried to politely bring this up while at the front desk. I was appalled to see that nothing other then a "well I'm so sorry about that" as the response to my concerns. I wasn't even offered a different option for showering. It's the middle of my vacation in iowa summer muggy heat and I couldn't even shower!? I am here trying to warn the next person. At least check the room because I made that mistake, to believe that this hotel was a bit more high end. At least enough to clean the shower and provide adequate accommodations. Also if you look at my other reviews I am not an "angry reviewer" I love to leave good reviews with lots of stars when I am satisfied. The breakfast was very good with a pretty decent variety I just wish I had an better experience but I didn't an I think it's only fair to let the next...
Read moreRooms were great. Hotel very clean. No one was ever at the front desk. They chose to sit in a room behind the front desk. They did have a sign directing you to pick up the phone for service. While I was checking in my daughter was gathering her belongings at the car. She came in crying and laughing ( she does this as she is uncofortable showing emotions)with her cheek cut open and bleeding. She stated she slipped on the ice and hit her face on the car. The desk clerk never offered concern or help. We grabbed a tissue and applied pressure to her face. The clerk stated that her daughter is clumsy too and thats it. I asked for a bag for ice and directions to the ice machine. She again did not offer help only that we could walk into the kitchen and grab a baggie and where to find the baggie. She then stated the ice machine was all the way down the hall and was a long walk. This was around 1pm. We went to the room and got my daughter situated. Around 4pm I went out to the parking lot, it was very icey and no salt what so ever. Went back inside to ask the ckerk if they were planning on taking care of the ice. She stated the plow guy was there and working on it. I went outside a few hours later and there was some ice melt but very sparse. It is one thing to have ice in the parking lot but the driveway and sidewalks were very icey and should have been taken care of and scraped. The other businesses in town had ice free sidewalks and parking lots. The clerk did ask the next day how my daughters eye was doing and thanked her for that. Overall very nice hotel but an accident ready to happen with staff that did not...

We stayed at this hotel 2 consecutive nights for a wedding. We made a gift bag for the newlyweds as a surprise. We asked the front desk staff to place the bag in the newlyweds’ hotel room, and were assured they would deliver the gift bag. They did NOT place the gift bag in the newlyweds’ room. They did NOT give the gift bag to the newlyweds as they entered the hotel after the wedding (It should have been easy to spot a bride and groom walking in the front door of a 40-room hotel). They did NOT even give the gift back to the newlyweds the following morning when they checked out of the hotel. They completely forgot to give the gift bag to the bride and groom. Only after we asked the newlyweds if they liked our gift, did we discover it was never delivered. The newlyweds had to drive 70 minutes round trip to retrieve their gift the day after they checked out. And on top of everything, THE MOST EXPENSIVE ITEM IN THE GIFT BAG WAS MISSING. The manager said she reviewed the security camera footage and did not see the missing item anywhere.
This hotel would have gotten a 3/5 rating before the gift bag fiasco. There were large holes in the drywall in the bathroom like someone ripped a fixture out of the wall and did not repair the hole. And the breakfast ended earlier than advertised on the sign in the lobby and the website.
After the gift bag not being delivered, having to drive 70 minutes round trip to retrieve it, and having at least one item missing, this hotel has lost our trust. We would never consider staying...
