This is a NO FUN ZONE hotel that offers little to the customer, the fact that rooms were pricey(okay to pay if the service adds up), in this case, it did not. You could not take anything into the pool area, so you cannot even enjoy a weekend getaway with drinks and food-NOT ALLOWED, just look at all the signs on the pool door!!! the breakfast??? Super 8 Quality, seriously it was legit ridiculous! the biscuits? hard and cold, no way to warm them, the sausage gravy? what little was in there was not worth bothering with, very little effort went into this poor excuse for breakfast, especially for the room prices. When I went to the front desk and let the staff know there was no coffee, I got asked if I was sure and then asked me both pots? I said yes, and he walked away. The staff? well, Zero personality, one lady said when I asked about drinks in the pool area(hoping she would say yes) since there were hardly any other customers, she said, 'Well if you are really nice, I might let you sneak in a small bottle of water'. Seriously???? The hotel room itself was normal, the bed was quite comfortable, the TVs set too low on the dresser to really enjoy, if you have an issue with hearing, forget about hearing these televisions, they are set at a pre-determined volume! the refrigerator worked very well as did the microwave, no complaints there. the room overall was clean. the bathroom is a different matter, the paint is peeling off the walls and there are stains on the ceiling above the shower. the bathroom floors were not very clean. I never saw one hotel guest in that pool area, as I went in and walked around, the pool itself did not look clean. I'm extremely disappointed in this Baymont, we've stayed at others and never had any issues or were suppressed from having a fun-filled weekend. We will not stay at this location again. Just so you know there are other hotels in the area that are...

Solid 4/5 hotel. Rooms were clean. Bathroom was clean. Sink area was clean. The amenities are good. The only downside was the smell of the room. We did come here during the humid summer. Could be corn sweat but the room had a slight musty smell to it. It went away when the AC was turned on but when it's turning off and on, the smell does faintly come back.

Breakfast: typical breakfast goodies, waffles, bagels, cereal, orange juice, milk, apple juice and water. Didn't eat breakfast but they have it if you needed it. Coffee is subpar but it's coffee if you need it on the go.

Room quality: Good room minus the slight musty smell that smelled like musty moist hay. The bed was well made and clean. Didn't find anything alarming or dirty on the bedsheets and pillows. Would highly recommend wearing slippers as the carpet felt moist on some parts but the carpet was in decent condition.

Location: 15-20 minute drive to Ames depending on how you drive. You're in farmland, don't expect an amazing view. It is located right next to Walmart and a gas station. You could walk 5 minutes to Walmart or about a 8-10 minute walk to the gas station.

Pool and gym: you need to ask the front desk for access to the gym and pool area.

Overall, a good hotel to stay at. Front desk employee is helpful and kind. If they're not there, there is a sign to notify them via phone and they came to help...

We were so disappointed by the service as well as the overall hotel experience that we ended up not even staying. The first thing we noticed upon entering our room was the queen beds were definitely not a queen bed, but much smaller. We got there and went right to the pool for the kids to swim. We had a group of about 15 people coming for the night. There is absolutely no food or drinks allowed in the pool area, which is the only area in the hotel for a group to gather together. There was no compromise on this and stated would be charged a fine to our room and asked to leave if it occurred. There was no place the group could even order in pizza and eat together. The pool was freezing and the kids didn’t enjoy it because it was too cold. Bottom of the pool needs a lot of work as our daughter cut the entire side is her foot upon entering the pool. The seating area in the breakfast area was not available to even sit and eat food brought in for dinner. When we went to leave and expressed our disappointment the front desk clerk didn’t have a care in the world and just kept saying ok as I voiced concerns. Would NOT recommend as this was the worst hotel experience we have...

Friendly check in, lots of parking, close to Walmart. Nice pool and exercise room. Enjoyable room, fast wifi, plenty of TV channels. Alarm clock next to bed runs 45 min slow and I couldn't find a way to set the time Also, alarm was set to go off (not by me) which wasn't appreciated. Oddly, While there was lots of very hot water available from the sink, there was very little hot water from the tub/shower. Barely lukewarm. Tried three times over a 16 hour stay. Breakfast was so-so Bread products, hot/cold cereal, biscuits and gravy, yogurt and hard-boiled eggs. There was something very wrong with the OJ dispenser (tasted like cleaning chemical) and the coffee ran out in the breakfast room. Had a very good quiet sleep with comfy pillows blanket and bed
