I'm traveling from out of state on a construction project and needed a place to stay for an extended time (~1 month). After another co-worker booked his room, he informed me of the much better rates than the hotel I was staying at (Less than 1/3 of what I was paying). The man at the front desk was accommodating and understanding and quickly set me up with a key and a room number. The room is small but clean and well-furnished. The bed is comfortable, the bathroom is just the right size for a single person, with hot water almost on demand, something I've considered impossible for some hotels I've stayed at. The television is locked to cable only, so someone like me who brings their own devices to connect to the tv (Roku, Xbox, etc.) will be disappointed. The wifi is sub-par, with frequent disconnects and some stuttering. I've brought this to the staff's attention, and they usually attempt to fix it, which results in working wifi for a few hours, then it disconnects again. This may not be an issue for someone staying a single night, but as someone who is staying long-term, I've resorted to using the hotspot on my phone. Long story short, even though there are a few shortcomings, the place is nice, and I am recommending this place to others who are looking for a place to stay...
Read moreI first have to say after reading some of the post that people wrote. I apologize for their ignorance but honesty can be crazy. My wife and I found BRAIDWOOD MOTEL to be one of nicest and conveniently located places we had ever stayed at on our move from Chicago to Texas. We showed up around 2300 hours, I woke the manager, he had such a positive demeanor. He was very friendly, courteous and professional. Didn’t try to over charge me knowing we needed to stay there. Once I paid 45 dollars with tax 49.95. My wife and I stayed in room 8, well just say it exceeded our expectations And trust when I say that I’m not that easily impressed. The BraidWood motel is a hidden treasure and the town really has to be one of friendliest places I have been. I see the complaints about trains, really. It just made this place for us all that more charming. We have stayed in places where rude unappreciative people worked and their TVs were louder. I guess their entitled to their opinions. In closing BRAIDWOOD MOTEL is a fantastic find and we will definitely be coming back here again, even if I have to go outta my way...
Read moreWe considered staying at this motel, but we are nervous Chicago traveler people and we were unfamiliar with the area. Braidwood is a significant distance from the Chicago Metropolitan Area and is a small beautiful community which we enjoyed. The hotel is very quaint and well kept. The Southern Illinois section of Route 66 is often mentioned on Trip Advisor as the best section. This is really the beginning of the historic landmarks in Illinois; the beginning sign in Chicago is a quick photo snap, but the Old Joliet Prison and Joliet itself are well worthwhile. Southern Illinois on 66 is probably a 3 day workout and the Braidwood Motel is a great place to stay to begin a day. A reminder; Route 66 is best seen in the summer, not much was open when we...
