Our stay at Staybridge Suites Tampa East Brandon was rather unpleasant and quite frankly unacceptable for several reasons. Upon arrival, we were told during check in that the flooring had been “replaced” in our room. We entered our suite to find damp carpet all throughout that carried a very unpleasant musky smell. I was advised by the only staff member available that there was nothing she could do, as all rooms were undergoing carpet cleaning. We specifically selected a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom suite in order to accommodate all the members of our party. The one bathroom was essentially unusable. The suite was supposed to be equipped with lighted mirrors in both bathroom areas. The one bathroom’s mirror light did not work, and instead a lamp had been placed on the counter which did not provide the proper lighting needed for applying makeup. We were forced to share a bathroom area for this reason as well as the fact that the other bathroom shower did not come with an inner shower liner. When we attempted to utilize the shower water literally flooded the bathroom floor. This was a huge safety hazard for my family. I was told that they did not have any shower liners, only the curtain provided. We wound up as a result needing many additional towels, and that process took multiple hours. The “unusable” bathroom also had visible mold in a couple places. This is just unacceptable! We also observed mold on the wall and ceiling (near the vent) of the bedroom where our children were set up to sleep. Their bathroom (the only fully functioning one) had tile damage on the wall, which could have easily caused an injury if we had not covered it up with some luggage. The furniture in the living area appeared dirty and stained, which did not leave us feeling very comfortable to relax in this area. The floor tile/grout all throughout both bathroom areas appeared very unclean and not well maintained. The lamp in my bedroom next to the bed did not work and it was the only place in the room where phone chargers could be plugged in. The swimming pool outside was disgusting! We specifically chose this hotel, as it appeared online to have a nice pool/lounge area. We were sadly mistaken! The pool lining at the surface of the water had a gross film/residue that made it apparent it had not been properly cleaned in quite some time. We did inquire about this, and then for the remainder of our time at the hotel there was a robot in the pool cleaning it, which did not permit us to swim. Overall, I am extremely dissatisfied with the quality of the accommodations we received. This was not a motel, where I paid like $100/night and would expect to find unfavorable accommodations. I paid almost $1300 to stay for 3 nights. We made this trip to Florida to tour colleges for our daughter, and in the limited time we were on site at the hotel, we felt very uncomfortable and highly unsatisfied. I do not believe this is the standard that IHG hotels and resorts holds across the board, as we had a very pleasant stay at Hotel Indigo in Tallahassee just a couple nights prior. I would hope that someone at your organization would take these complaints/concerns seriously. These concerns include health, safety, quality and comfort issues. I did attempt to speak to someone in management, and was told that a manager was unavailable two separate times over the weekend. I also have photos taken during our stay if you would like me to...

Read moreStayed at this property in mid-March with my family. We were hoping that the Staybridge would be the quality of other Staybridge suites, but it simply was not. Upon arrival we had to wait over an hour for the room to be cleaned and prepared, so we were not able to get into the room until after 4 PM which really threw off our schedule since we were attending an event at 6 PM that night and had to travel a good distance to get there.
We toured the grounds and found that the pool needed to be cleaned and the world pool/hot tub had this green color, so we never ventured into the pool area.
Upon taking a shower, the shower handle was loose and would not stay in the warm position, so I nearly was scalded when the handle fell forward on its own, making the shower super hot. Since we were only staying there two days there is no need to call anyone at the front desk since we were not able to wait for them and we’re not comfortable having someone come into our room when we were not there since all of our things were now on packed.
The next morning we went downstairs for breakfast only to find some folded eggs and only a few sausage links. They had blown out of hot oatmeal cereal and several other things some breakfast items that were not going to be replenished nor were they replenished sent was 9 AM and breakfast was only served until 9:30 AM, which I thought was very poor on their part, since they should’ve had enough to eat for everyone within the timeframe that hotel established.
Hotel was quite pricey … We thought… For the area and we don’t believe that it was anywhere near Staybridge suites standards, since we have stayed at other Staybridge properties that simply work 10 times better than this one. I also would like to add that the better properties were also cheaper, pricewise.
When we went down for breakfast that first morning at 9 AM, and came back up around 925, 9:30 AM, we found that they were already cleaning our room, which is not their fault, but it held us up another hour as we were planning on leaving as soon as we had breakfast. It’s our fault for not putting up the do not disturb or come later sticker, but one would think that they would clean our room later, who knows.
Based on the poor breakfast or lack of items from the first day, we did not even bother eating at the hotel and checked out and went to breakfast in a nearby diner, which basically defeated the purpose of having breakfast included.
Live and learn, I would not recommend this property, as there appears to be many other properties in the area that must be better quality wise.
We normally love Staybridge suites, just...
