I stayed at Hampton Inn in Bridgewater for 2 weeks, and this was my experience:
The good: Staff - the staff at the front desk were accommodating and helpful. I was able to check in earlier with no problem.
Breakfast - breakfast was very good and well seasoned. Even the sausage patties, sausage links, and bacon were not salty at all, and that really surprised me since these are usually salty.
Rooms - rooms were kinda small but well decorated, and the bathroom was spacious and had a modern look to it.
Cleaniness: When it comes to the cleanliness of the room, I will give it 6 out of 10. The corners of the sink in the bathroom, the sink overflow and the drain in the shower were not clean, but I'm a neat freak, so it might not bother some people, but I had to clean it to my liking.
The Bad: Rooms - the rooms were not as spacious as some other hotels I have stayed in the area.
The pillows - I got the king-size bedroom, but the bed had small size pillows, and they were kinda flat and old looking.
Housekeeping - Housekeeping are per request and every other day.
None of the housekeepers speak English and couldn't understand simple things like - toilet paper, trash bag, towels, etc. This made it hard to communicate with them.
A condescending housekeeper - there was this housekeeper called Antonia that was very condescending. She always frowned when she came knocking on my door asking if I needed room service.
I don't know if its because I'm black, but she always had this disdainful look each time she came as if I was inferior to her.
Maybe if I were a white woman or a black woman with a suit and tie, she wouldn't look down on me the way she did. Watch out for her - SHE IS NOT NICE!
On The Other Hand, there was another staff member whose name was Mercedes, and she was complete opposite to Antonia.
Mercedes was sweet, very nice and helpful. Although her English was also limited, she was very nice and treated me like I was human.
Shower pressure - the shower pressure was low. It made it hard to take a quick shower or get in and out of the shower because you never feel like you are completely clean.
Microwave/ refrigerator - the microwave in our room was on the bottom of the cabinet, and that made it hard to use. Even as a younger woman, I had a hard time seeing the numbers on the microwave, and as a result, made it difficult to use.
Refrigerator - their refrigerator was also on the smaller side.
Hallways - the hallways were kinda warm. It didn't have air-condition and It felt like the heat was turned on for some reason.
Laundry Room - I did my laundry one time in their guest laundry room, and I was really disgusted by the mold in the rim of one of the washer - #1. And to top it off, the laundry room had no air-condition, so the room was very hot.
I would still recommend this hotel if you are looking for a decent hotel that offers a...
Read moreThis was hands down the worst hotel experience of my life. I stayed here with my two young kids and two cats while our home was being worked on, and from the start, things went downhill fast. Despite being told pets were allowed, the staff showed no empathy for our difficult situation.
The first night, my kids were quietly talking and playing when the front desk knocked on our door to say we were “too loud”—even though we were hardly making noise. Things got worse when we all started itching, and my cat developed a serious eye infection. The vet suspected the filthy carpet could be to blame. To make matters worse, we discovered we had bed bugs after multiple visits to doctors.
Housekeeping wouldn’t clean our room unless we were present, and I had to pay $70 out of pocket for a scheduled cleaning. We also had to rely on DoorDash for food since I couldn’t cook, adding stress to an already difficult situation. The hotel refused to extend our stay, citing exaggerated noise complaints, and when I complained about the bed bugs and general filth, I was met with rudeness and indifference from the front desk.
When I checked out, I was charged a ridiculous $500 cleaning fee for things that were out of my control, like the bed bugs and the condition of the carpets. The front desk refused to provide any evidence and treated me terribly. Even as a Diamond member, I received no special treatment or respect.
The only positives were the breakfast and tea station. Everything else, including the filthy rooms and rude staff, was unacceptable. If you care about your health and safety, do not stay here. This hotel clearly has no regard for its guests’ well-being. Avoid it...
Read moreCan I give 10 stars? Yes, the rooms are great (clean, spacious, accommodating with tons of various plug-ins and amenities), but the staff provides over-the-top service with smiles! Arrived late Thursday night frustrated with airline that lost luggage. Before we could even whip out a credit card, Jonathan's partner (Kathryn?) was filling a bag with toothbrushes, toothpaste, flossers, mouthwash, make-up remover towelettes, razors, shaving cream, lotion, deodorant (both Secret for me and Old Spice for hubby), water. Jonathan upgraded our room AND gave us directions to Target and Walmart so we could purchase additional necessities the next morning. Their kindness brought tears to tired bodies. He assured us he'd advised the next day's staff to be on the lookout for our suitcase. And guess what? The next morning the entire staff knew of our predicament. Hampton followed through when the #&$%* airline couldn't! The next morning, as we were leaving the hotel to head to Target, I made mention to hubby that we could get a snack and drink there at the cozy little bar next to the fireplace. Erica heard me and left the front desk to race outside to let me know that drinks, yes; snacks no. See? No detail goes undone! From housekeeping to management, everyone is watching out for the guests. I cannot say enough about how spot-on our experience here has been! We're here from Phoenix for an event honoring my husband and so New Jersey isn't on our radar for return, but because of our Hampton experience (and this being hubby's hometown), we're seriously contemplating a visit next year. Stay nowhere else and...
