Bad Experience We have been coming to this Diner for many years. We have been patrons since the late 1980's when it was called the Felix #9. Tonight, I did something I've never done in my adult life... LEFT NO TIP FOR OUR WAITRESS... Upon entering there seemed to be a line at the counter whereas the host was busy with customers paying their bill so we were greeted by what would become our waitress for the evening. I believe her name was April. She seemed friendly. When she seated us we thanked her and she responded "no problem". When she asked us for our drink order, we ordered and again she said "no problem" When she brought out drinks, we thanked her and again she responded with "no problem" We both ordered Dinner. She was very friendly and seemed to understand the menu well. When she brought our soup, we thanked her and she responded again this time "not a problem" I told my wife I'll not thank her any more because it really was annoying me lol So... Our food cam and she asked if we need anything else so we asked for some drink refills, hot sauce and some napkins which she responded with... "not a problem" The napkins never came nor did the hot sauce. I helped myself to both as we were close to the servers counter. Both of our drinks remained empty since she picked up our soup cups. Finally, we asked another server for drink refills of which she responded "of course!". When she brought out refills we thanked her and she said "you're welcome!" we finished our food and our original waitress came by with the check. Never asking if we wanted anything else. Never recommended dessert to us even though both of our dinners were supposed to come with it as part of the Blackboard Special" Well... We did ask for a couple of boxes to pack up our leftovers (as we were saving room for dessert). This young lady responded to our request for takeout boxes with a big old "not a problem" This young lady is giving a service to hungry paying customers. She never once used any positive words. Never a word or phrase like: "sure" "I'll get that right out" "you're welcome" "Thanks for coming"
in my opinion this is...
Read moreHeading to Cava Bridgewater, I opted for this diner due to my preference for authentic diners. Despite its initial appearance as a wholesome diner with a bustling crowd, my disappointment set in. Observing large portions on every table, I was pleased, being a fan of generous servings. After being promptly seated, we noticed fruit-flavored iced tea on the menu, a favorite of mine when unsweetened. Upon inquiry, the waiter informed us it was sweet, so we opted for unsweet tea instead. A more attentive waiter might have suggested dilution for less sweetness, but ours didn't.
After delivering the tea, he inquired on whether we were ready to order. Given the breadth of their menu, I requested more time. He assured us to take our time and left for about 10 minutes. When he returned, I ordered the prime rib, specifically asking if it came with horseradish sauce, as I had enjoyed it at the Chart House in Weehawken (a must try). The waiter confirmed, so I ordered it. My girlfriend ordered an apple salad. We also opted for a sampler appetizer.
The sampler was terribly disappointing. Resembling chicken tenders but with a tofu-like texture, it featured mostly overly fried and greasy zucchinis. The loaded baked potato was a letdown, with excessive grease, cheese, and burnt bacon. After this dismal start, the waiter informed me they were out of prime rib and offered another steak, but confirmed that it came with horseradish sauce.
The replacement steak, akin to the sampler, was greasy and fatty, with a dry texture suggesting possible freezing. Priced at $30, it was $6 more than the prime rib I initially wanted, a detail the waiter omitted - along with the horseradish sauce. The steak came with seemingly crisp onion rings, but they lacked crunch, appearing soggy as if left under a heat lamp. In summary, the food here is not palatable. My girlfriend echoed the sentiment, expressing disappointment in her apple salad.
Should have went to Cava against our...
Read moreMy husband and I went in for a late brunch this past Sunday. We both ordered an omelette and a short stack of French toast. While we were waiting for our food, we noticed a gentleman who was I believe in charge of cleaning the tables and placing the mats and utensils on the table for customers. He was not using gloves or even washing his hands in between cleaning the tables and filling the glasses of water. At times he used his bare hands to scoop out lemons from this white plastic container near the sink and drop them into the glasses of water. When he put our stuff on the table he also smelled very strongly of alcohol and we did not touch our water after this. I cannot believe management has not seen this or even can allow such unhygienic behavior in a restaurant. We cannot have been the only ones to have ever experienced this, seeing as the location was right next to a row of booths. My husband's food was good however my omelette was horrible. It tasted like the frozen spinach was uncooked and the egg wasn't completely cooked either. There was sooooooo much spinach I couldn't taste anything else and the uncooked flavor was extremely overpowering. I notified the waitress of this and she said she would speak to the manager. She didn't even ask if I wanted it remade or if I had wanted to order something different. I was actually extremely hungry and this sort of behavior caused me to purchase my meal elsewhere after my husband finished his meal. During this time she had spoken to the other wait staff and I can observe them looking at us as she was speaking and this behavior clearly shows us that they were speaking about us. The French toast however was excellent. Overall, we won't be returning and we hope that the management staff will address these problems of customer service and hygiene so no one else receives the type of...
