UPDATE December, 2024: The glowing review I left originally is for the old owner, Cindi, and for the old house - which had all the character, charm, and soul that one could want in an old New England Inn. The new owners, while apparently nice folks, have made tasteless, atrocious renovations and design changes. The new rooms in the pictures look cheap, tacky and soulless. Gone are the century-old hardwood floors, replaced with plastic laminate boards and cheap carpet. The beautiful wooden bookcases filled with interesting books about Maine are gone and replaced with wall-mounted flatscreen TVs and fake fireplaces. The floral wallpaper which so fit the house's Victorian aesthetic has of course been replaced by grey/white drywall. Red brick walls painted white. All the usual tasteless "upgrades" that have ruined so many other great old houses in America. Tragic. I was about to recommend some friends stay here on their visit to Maine, but now I'll look elsewhere. Might as well just stay at a cheap motel, the rooms look the same and are cheaper.
The location remains 5 stars, and I'll leave the 5 stars for service to give the new owners the benefit of the doubt.
ORIGINAL REVIEW FROM 2021 (5 Stars across the board): Though it was due to pure happenstance (vehicle problems) that we ended up staying at the Noble Inn, it ended up being a fantastic experience that I'll never forget. The Noble Inn is in a beautiful old Victorian Maine farmhouse set in a scenic location just a stone's throw from a picturesque lake, and walking distance from the great small town of Bridgton. Innkeeper Cindi was very helpful in guiding us towards the most beautiful and interesting sites to visit, as well as local eateries. I could list our experiences here but the far better experience is in learning about them from locals like Cindi.
Speaking of Cindi: I canât imagine a better host for a place like this. Cindy fits the mold of the innkeeper archetype, a throwback to a time and place that many of us yearn for in this age where real-life human interaction is quickly taking a backseat to digital abstractions. With a direct and personable Texan demeanor, Cindi is welcoming, a great conversationalist, knowledgeable about a variety of topics, has a good sense of humor and is a great cook to boot. She even picked fresh mint from her garden to make one of her delicious breakfast dishes, and on my request didnât use canola oil in the dishes she cooked for us. Try getting that kind of service in some chain hotel!
My wife and I also enjoyed meeting and chatting with some of the other guests, who were similarly impressed and delighted by the old-time charm of the place. We hope to return one day and would enthusiastically recommend the Noble Inn to anyone looking to have a truly rewarding and memorable experience when traveling to, or through,...
Read moreWe visited Labor Day weekend 2021. We realize that it was still during Covid, but we stayed in a B&B the week before in Blue Hill and had a much more positive experience. We were disappointed that there was no room service due to Covid when we had received daily cleaning and towel changing in the other B&B. It seemed very unnecessary to exclude this service. We realized we could get towels (as they had mentioned in their written materials) and we did ask for more, but it would have been nice to have the bed made and linens changed each day, especially because it was damp and the towels did not dry overnight. The room was really small and tight. There is only one logical place to put a very small suitcase, so it made organizing challenging. The sheets were not great quality and would shift around a lot when the bed was in use and end up in a rumpled mess in the morning. I recommend that this room be for one person only because of it's size. The porch is nice, but it was too cold to hang out there. We loved the home made cookies every day, they were delicious! But we also experienced a rude encounter at breakfast the second morning as we were walking into the dining room. The owner/cook told the guests that they couldn't just eat as much as they wanted to, and basically scolded them for eating too much. She told them that there were still 3 more guests to come to breakfast and there wouldn't be enough for them. This was the opposite of hospitality. We recommend that if food runs out, it is a supply problem, not a consumption problem. Perhaps you could make scrambled eggs or something that is quick to prepare when other guests arrive or make more of the main dish, but you should never tell your guests they have eaten too much. We had visited the Noble House many years before with a different owner and had a very nice experience, so we were very disappointed...
Read moreFrom the moment we called The Noble House Inn and spoke to Cindi on the phone, we knew we were going to be in the good hands of an outstanding, customer service-oriented Inn Keeper. Her light-hearted humor, her warm tone and charming accent enticed us to Bridgton, Maine where we planned to experience the amazing Fryeburg Fair, just 20-minutes away by car. Newbies to the fair, Cindi encouraged us to enter the skillet-throwing contest, which we declined, and fortunately we were able to see the Fryeburg Fair skillet-throwing record broken with a throw of 64-feet! Cindi gave great restaurant recommendations for dinner, and after our first breakfast at The Noble House Inn, we knew we were at THE best breakfast place in town! We slept in the Treehouse room, which was so comfortable, we were tempted to just stay in and relax with our ottomans, chairs and good book selections off the shelves. The bath tub was very deep, which was a treat for me, as I do love my baths! We loved the white pickled pine wood walls and ceiling in the bathroom. When not at the Fair, we enjoyed the shared spaces of the house, where exquisite furniture and cozy corners were available to relax with a bird book. The other guests we met were lovely, and Ken was just as helpful as Cindi in making us all feel welcome. We could see why guests returned to The Noble House Bed and Breakfast Inn multiple times over the years. As The Terminator said, âIâll be backâ, and we look forward to another satisfying stayâŠwith evening...
